Chapter Sixty-Two: Snape in a Fury
Vesey mentally called for Dumbledore and the others.
She no longer had to disguise herself. Her entire face was pale.
Harry and Ron didn’t look much better either. Their bodies were covered in bloodstains and scratches from the debris.
Hermione also had a long gash across her face.
This is too tragic.
Vesey thought about the original plot. Even when the trio had gone off on their own and gotten into trouble, things had never ended up like this. This had almost cost her her life.
She reflected on herself for a moment.
Then Vesey immediately suppressed her guilty conscience.
She took a breath and deliberately put a panicked expression on her face.
"Brother, Ron, Hermione, are you all right?"
Harry and Ron finally came back to their senses.
The explosion had been so violent that they hadn’t been able to hear anything for a while, but their hearing was gradually returning.
"Vesey! Vesey, how are you?"
Harry got up and walked toward Vesey.
However, he stopped a short distance away.
Tears filled his eyes.
Vesey’s body was covered in wounds, and blood was still flowing from many of them. There was even a cut on her face that almost reached her eye.
She stood there and forced a smile, but she couldn’t hide the trembling and fear in her body.
"Vesey, how are you?"
Harry asked again.
He wanted to hug Vesey, but he was afraid of hurting her.
Vesey shook her head.
"Brother, I’m fine. I’m just shaking a little, and I can’t walk yet."
The remains of the troll were scattered not far from her feet, and she was worried about accidentally touching them.
This is so disgusting.
Just thinking about that thing falling on her made her shudder again.
"Brother..."
Vesey was about to say something else when the footsteps in the corridor suddenly accelerated again.
A figure quickly appeared beside her.
"Vesey! Vesey!"
Snape called her name in a trembling voice.
His face had gone pale, and he looked extremely frightened.
"Professor, I’m fine!"
Vesey quickly reassured him.
"My legs are just a little weak, but everything else is fine..."
She spoke softly.
Snape’s expression didn’t improve at all. He suddenly drew his wand.
Vesey almost thought Snape was going to hit her with it out of anger.
She flinched, only to realize that Snape was casting a spell on her.
Something about her condition was clearly wrong, and Snape’s expression became increasingly solemn as he examined her.
He suddenly waved his wand.
A large number of potion bottles flew over and landed beside Vesey.
Vesey remembered her last experience with Snape’s potions and instinctively wanted to refuse.
But before she could say anything, Snape had already poured one of the potions into her mouth.
Before she could even react, he had started giving her a second bottle.
After the second potion was poured down her throat, Vesey couldn’t help grabbing Snape’s sleeve.
"..."
The moment she opened her mouth, she yawned.
A heavy wave of drowsiness swept over her.
She could barely keep her eyes open.
Still, she forced herself to resist the sleepiness and said, "Professor, it’s not my brother’s fault. It’s my brother’s... business..."
Before she could finish, she fell into a deep sleep.
Madam Pomfrey hurried over and caught Vesey’s falling body.
"Give her to me!"
She said worriedly, then quickly carried Vesey toward the hospital wing.
Snape watched Madam Pomfrey’s figure until she disappeared from sight before finally withdrawing his gaze.
"What happened?"
He suddenly turned around angrily and glared at Harry and the others.
"Why are you here? Because you wanted to show off, didn’t you? Because you..."
"Severus."
Dumbledore interrupted Snape.
"I think Harry and the others are frightened as well, and they’re injured too. They should also go to the hospital wing."
Snape glared at Dumbledore.
"They don’t need it. This is the result of their own recklessness. They..."
Dumbledore sighed and shook his head helplessly.
Then he looked at Harry and the others with a gentle smile.
"Children, can you tell me what happened?"
Harry and Ron hesitated for a moment, then prepared to tell the truth.
They were worried about Vesey now.
Judging from Snape’s and Madam Pomfrey’s reactions, it was obvious that Vesey was seriously injured.
They would rather lose a hundred points than waste any more time before going to see her.
But before they could speak, Hermione spoke first.
"Professor, it’s all my fault. I read about trolls in a book and thought I could defeat one. Vesey and Harry came down to find me. Fortunately, they saved me!"
Harry and Ron’s eyes widened in shock.
They really hadn’t expected Hermione to lie for them one day.
Hermione’s face was slightly red, but she still stubbornly maintained her story.
Dumbledore chuckled softly.
"Child, what you did was wrong. First-year students shouldn’t try to face a troll directly!"
Snape beside him snorted coldly.
He sneered and was about to say something, but Dumbledore spoke first.
"All right, children. Can you tell me how Vesey did it?"
That was something Harry and the others could answer.
They described everything Vesey had done in detail.
"I don’t know how Vesey was able to use such a powerful spell, but I remember that the spell was Thunderbolt Explosion. It appears in the fifth-year Charms textbook. There’s nothing wrong with Vesey!"
Hermione was worried that Dumbledore and the others would misunderstand Vesey and think she was a bad student, so she explained seriously.
She still remembered that the diary had said Dumbledore was very suspicious of Vesey, and she hoped to reduce the suspicion surrounding her.
Vesey was obviously a good person, and she hadn’t done anything wrong. How could Dumbledore doubt her like that?
Hermione pursed her lips.
She even regretted what had happened.
She had been happy because the diary said that she and Vesey would become good friends on Halloween.
But now that they really were likely to become good friends, she felt uncomfortable.
If she had known that the price of becoming good friends was for Vesey to be injured so seriously and sent to the hospital wing, she would never have looked forward to this day.
I wonder how Vesey is doing?
And what kind of potion did Professor Snape give her?
Did it work?
She really wanted to go to the hospital wing and ask Madam Pomfrey. She was extremely worried.
"Oh, Miss Granger, we’re not bad people. Please stop crying."
Dumbledore said with a smile.
Hermione wiped her eyes and realized that she had shed quite a few tears.
The tears ran into the wound on her face, making it sting.
"Hmph. The person who really ought to be crying hasn’t cried yet!"
Snape said coldly.
Dumbledore shook his head helplessly.
"All right, children. Go upstairs to the hospital wing and ask Madam Pomfrey to examine you. You were all seriously injured today."
Harry and the others breathed a sigh of relief and hurriedly prepared to leave so they could see Vesey.
But Snape stopped them with a cold, malicious tone.
"Sorry. I believe the Headmaster hasn’t finished speaking yet. As your professor, I have to deduct some points from you. Can you understand?"
