Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard
Chapter 1239: Romanian Longhorn_2
Therefore, not only can they find treasures, but they are also adept at hiding things… however, the condition is that these must be things the Niffler isn’t interested in. If it’s gold coins or gems, there’s a high chance they’ll end up directly in the inner pocket.
But parchment with writing on it, the Niffler isn’t interested in.
“All hidden?” Kael asked.
The Niffler patted its chest with its little short hands, as if to say, “Trust me, I’ve got it covered.”
“Very good.” Kael once again took out a gold coin and tossed it to the Niffler, whose eyes gleamed.
While he was doing this, Dumbledore had been waiting nearby. It wasn’t until the Niffler burrowed back into Kael’s suitcase that Dumbledore asked, “Can we go back now?”
“Hmm… not yet.” Kael said somewhat apologetically, “Actually, I still have one more thing to do.”
“One more thing?” Dumbledore was taken aback.
How long has Kael been here… and wasn’t he supposed to take me back? Why does it feel like he’s the one here on business?
“It’s just a small matter; it will be resolved quickly.” Kael thought for a moment and said, “How about this: Professor, you rest here while I go by myself and come back as soon as possible.”
Looking at Dumbledore’s frail appearance, Kael wasn’t sure if he could withstand another long-distance journey.
And as he said, there’s really only one small task left this time. If all goes well, he could be back in a few minutes, and there’s no need for both of them to go together.
Dumbledore thought about it and agreed.
Although he wasn’t weak to the point where he couldn’t use Apparition or a Portkey, they were going to use a Time Turner afterward.
A time span of nearly a hundred years is no small challenge; he still wanted to conserve a bit of energy.
“I’ll be back as soon as I can,” Kael said as he casually broke off a branch.
“Portus.”
The branch began to vibrate, emitting a burst of blue light, and then took Kael away.
Kael preferred to use a Portkey over the more mentally draining Apparition when the distance was too great.
Kael traversed through a swirl of indistinct colors and soon landed back on solid ground.
The barren mountain landscape turned into a bustling bar, but the people around him didn’t find his sudden appearance at all surprising.
Everyone here was a wizard, long accustomed to such sights.
Kael paid no attention to them either, simply tidying up his clothes before striding through the Leaky Cauldron and entering Diagon Alley from the back courtyard.
It seemed that Hogwarts was about to start a new term; the incoming students had all received their admission letters, so compared to last time Kael was here, Diagon Alley was much busier now.
Walking down the street, wizards of all ages could be seen, among whom the eleven-year-olds about to start school were the most numerous. Most of them would stand in front of certain shops, exclaiming in amazement, completely dazzled by everything around them and thus easily recognizable.
Kael squeezed through the crowd and stopped in front of a shop in the middle of Diagon Alley.
When he left last time, there was still a ‘Closed’ sign hanging on the shop’s door, but now it had been removed. The owner was inside, enthusiastically showing a group of… seemingly teenage young wizards the goods on the shelves.
“Chomping Disc… looks no different from a regular plate, but if you try to eat the food in it, it’ll jump up and bite your nose.”
“Sir, you have sharp eyes! Freshly picked sour Explosive Pod Fruit, one bite and you’ll lose your sense of taste for a whole day.”
…
Kael raised an eyebrow; he hadn’t noticed before. But hearing the owner now, it seemed like this was a joke shop from a hundred years ago?
About a month ago, when he first came to Diagon Alley, he had bought a Fire Dragon Egg eggshell here, an Antipodean Opaleye eggshell, one of the essential potion materials for Felix Felici. In addition, he had also placed a high-priced order for a complete Dragon Egg.
It was just that the shop didn’t have it at the time. The owner said he needed to go elsewhere to find it, and as a result, it took several days—far beyond their agreed time.
Kael originally thought the owner had run into trouble—after all, even at this time, a complete Fire Dragon Egg was a rarity and it wouldn’t be surprising for it to be targeted.
Later, due to some trouble with a Dark Wizard, he had to leave Diagon Alley early to avoid being tracked by Aurors.
Then, because of Arianna’s issues, he gradually almost forgot about it.
It wasn’t until Birdman suddenly mentioned the Fire Dragon Egg when they were at the Romanian Fire Dragon Reserve, that he remembered the unfinished deal he had at Diagon Alley and thought to check it out before heading back.
He didn’t have much hope initially because the owner had already been delayed so many days before. But since Fire Dragons were rare, getting one more could only be a good thing.
Since there was a Portkey, it wouldn’t take long to come here anyway.
To Kael’s surprise, the owner had actually returned.
Perhaps Kael’s gaze was too obvious, for the owner who was promoting his products instinctively turned his head.
Their eyes met.
“I’m sorry, kids.” The owner named Willie Tom cleared his throat and said, “The shop is now closed. If you need anything, please come back when we open next time.”
“But it’s not even noon yet,” someone said with discontent.
“Well, I have to eat lunch.”
Without giving them time to complain or provide any explanation, the owner used a near-brutal method to drive them all out and then slammed the door shut.
