Chapter 154: Chapter 154: Sleep Until The Lunch Time

The class monitor looked down at Qiao Meixia, and then turned his head to glance at Yin Junjie.

Both of these infamous students were sprawled across their desks, sleeping like logs. Indeed, these two were practically fated to be deskmates.

Having no other choice, the class monitor lightly knocked his knuckles against Qiao Meixia’s wooden desk.

Qiao Meixia slowly opened her eyes, her gaze foggy and unamused.

"Student Qiao, time is up. I need to collect your test paper." The class monitor said, keeping his tone as polite as possible.

"Oh..." Qiao Meixia mumbled groggily.

She blindly grabbed the test paper from beneath her arms and handed it over to the class monitor. Thinking her duty was done, she prepared to bury her face back into her arms. She fully intended to go right back to sleep, but the class monitor remained standing awkwardly right beside her desk, making no move to leave.

"Student Qiao... Could you please ask Student Yin to hand over his paper as well?" The class monitor pleaded in a low whisper, thoroughly backed into a corner.

He simply did not have the courage to wake up Yin Junjie directly, especially considering the guy’s notoriously explosive temper when disturbed during a nap.

Qiao Meixia shifted slightly and looked over at Yin Junjie, who was indeed fast asleep beside her. Without giving it much thought, she raised her hand and knocked firmly on Yin Junjie’s desk.

Feeling his peaceful rest abruptly shattered, Yin Junjie’s eyes snapped open. A dark, murderous aura instantly radiated from him, furious that someone had dared to interrupt his sleep. He was just about to explode and shout at whoever was responsible when a cool, familiar voice cut through his anger.

"Hand over your test paper." Qiao Meixia said flatly.

"Huh?" Yin Junjie blinked, his sleep-addled brain struggling to process the situation.

"Your test paper." Qiao Meixia repeated, casually pointing a finger at the nearly blank sheet resting on his desk.

Yin Junjie followed her finger and finally spotted the exam sheet.

"Oh..." Yin Junjie’s brain finally caught up to reality.

He grabbed the paper and thrust it toward the trembling class monitor.

The class monitor snatched it up like a lifeline. "Thank you, Student Yin!"

Yin Junjie did not bother offering a response. He simply folded his arms on the desk and buried his head back into them, clearly intending to dive right back into his nap.

Qiao Meixia glanced at him for a brief second. Her own eyelids were feeling impossibly heavy as well. Since the test was officially over, she saw zero reason to force herself to stay conscious any longer. Turning back toward her own desk, she rested her forehead on her folded arms and closed her eyes.

The class monitor looked back and forth between the two sleeping figures, shaking his head in complete helplessness.

It seems literally nothing short of a natural disaster could keep these two awake today.

Just as he turned around to walk out of the classroom with the stack of test papers, he suddenly remembered that the next subject teacher was due to arrive in just a few minutes.

He let out a long, pitying sigh.

Well, dealing with these two stubborn sleepers is going to be the next teacher’s problem.

The teacher entered the classroom and immediately spotted two students asleep at the very back of the room. He knew one of them was Yin Junjie, the most notorious troublemaker in all of First Hannan High School, so seeing him sleeping through class did not surprise him in the slightest.

However, he certainly had not expected to see the transfer student sitting right beside him passed out cold as well. Was Yin Junjie’s bad influence already rubbing off on her so quickly?

Well, the teacher lacked the courage to wake either of them up. He was only there to deliver his lecture, and frankly, whatever they chose to do during class was none of his concern. He was terrified that if he meddled too much in the affairs of these influential students, he might end up losing his teaching job altogether.

And so, Yin Junjie and Qiao Meixia slept peacefully straight through until lunchtime.

Yin Junjie was the first of the two to stir awake. As he opened his eyes and stretched, he was startled to find Qiao Meixia’s sleeping face just inches away from his own, facing directly in his direction.

Yin Junjie panicked slightly and tried to stand up without making a sound. Unfortunately, the harsh friction between the metal legs of his chair and the floor produced a sharp, screeching noise, startling Qiao Meixia awake in an instant.

"I am sorry!" Yin Junjie blurted out, his face flushing as he quickly dashed out of the classroom like a startled cat.

Qiao Meixia, who had barely just opened her eyes, felt utterly bewildered as to why Yin Junjie had suddenly apologised to her before bolting out the door like his life depended on it. Still groggy, she did not dwell on the strange interaction for long. She glanced over at the wall clock.

It was already lunchtime.

’No wonder my stomach feels so empty.’ Qiao Meixia thought.

Scanning the room, she saw that the classroom was nearly deserted, with only a handful of students still sitting at their desks. Most of the class had already dispersed to get their afternoon meals.

Qiao Meixia stood up, stretched her sore shoulders, and walked out of the classroom, making her way down the hallway toward the cafeteria. As she drew closer to the main dining hall, the lively chatter of hungry students echoed down the corridor. She stepped inside and glanced around the space.

It was only half-full.

A large portion of the student body had likely headed over to the secondary cafeteria located in the school’s west wing. She had chosen this specific dining hall simply because it was the closest one to her building.

She walked up to the counter and carefully read through the lunch menu.

After a few seconds of contemplating her options, she made her decision, paid for her meal, and picked up her food tray.

Just as she turned around, a voice suddenly called out her name from across the room.

"Meixia... Meixia... Over here."

Qiao Meixia looked across the crowded dining area and spotted her three friends waving at her from a corner booth. Holding her food tray securely, she began navigating her way through the rows of tables toward them.

As she walked down the central aisle, she immediately noticed a male student casually extending his leg directly into her path.

The boy was clearly intent on making her stumble and crash to the floor. Knowing she was carrying a heavy tray filled with soup and dishes, he undoubtedly thought it would be absolutely hilarious to watch her trip, fall, and make a chaotic mess of herself in front of everyone.

However, Qiao Meixia did not even bother wasting her breath on a warning. With effortless grace, she fluidly stepped right over his leg, avoiding the crude trap entirely without breaking her stride.

"Hey, you!" The student barked, his angry tone causing several nearby tables to turn and stare in their direction.

He immediately looked foolish for failing, but instead of backing down, he decided to double down on his hostility.

"I heard you are supposed to be Jiang Yanna’s twin sister, but you don’t look a single bit like her!" The student sneered, looking down his nose at Qiao Meixia condescendingly.

Before Qiao Meixia could even open her mouth to respond, another student sitting at a nearby table spoke up on her behalf.

"Hey, are you completely stupid or what? Do you even know what fraternal twins are?"

"In case your tiny brain does not know, fraternal twins don’t share the exact same face!"

The arrogant student who had tried to humiliate Qiao Meixia earlier instantly flushed bright red with embarrassment.

In truth, he genuinely had no idea how twin genetics worked.

He had foolishly assumed that all twins were identical and had to look completely indistinguishable from one another. Overwhelmed by the humiliation, he glared bitterly at Qiao Meixia one last time before hastily scrambling out of the cafeteria.

A chorus of quiet chuckles and snickers erupted from the surrounding tables.

Feeling the secondhand shame, the group of boys who had been sitting with him earlier quickly grabbed their belongings, stood up, and hurried out of the cafeteria right behind him.

Qiao Meixia calmly walked over to her friends’ table, set her heavy tray down, and slid into the booth.

"I honestly did not expect someone from Class One to be that blatantly dumb." Ruan Jiaojiao scoffed, taking a bite of her food.
