I Am Not a Villain, Okay?
Chapter 17: Learning Begins With a Video
Levi’s eyes lit up.
Five EP would allow him to use enlightenment for a minute. He needed this, but he wouldn’t use it right now.
If possible, he wanted to save it until he could gain ten EP and use two minutes of Enlightenment.
According to his father, Enlightenment could completely change a Martial Artist’s understanding of an Art or Technique.
Because of this, Enlightenment was known as a rare occurrence, and only beings with amazing talent could be enlightened.
In fact, enlightenment depended heavily on a person’s talent. Unlike normal people, Martial Artists could harness the effects of enlightenment better.
The longer the enlightenment, the more knowledge one could gain.
But it was also harder since enlightenment was a spontaneous reaction of the brain.
After learning that, Levi understood why his parents agreed to let him use that system and even erased their memories.
The ability to give enlightenment to others was something too amazing.
More importantly, if he said he had a special physique that could give him enlightenment faster than others and prove it, nobody could object.
After all, there was equipment to measure the blood energy level, cell density, gene information, and even analyze the spiritual energy.
That meant humans could figure out what his physique was and whether he had it or not.
So, the best way to prove that he had a physique was through enlightenment.
That’s also the reason why he wanted to save the EP. If he had to prove it, he could use EP on the spot to prove it.
"Anyway, let’s go back to watching Mathew explain Spearmanship!"
Levi muttered and opened his phone before clicking the play button.
As the video started, Mathew began explaining the core reason why people choose spears as a weapon.
"First of all, if you have chosen the spear, congratulations, you have chosen one of the hardest weapons to master."
"Getting started with the spear isn’t difficult, but mastering it to fight other weapons is more than difficult."
"The spear is basically a pole with a sharp tip. How could it be hard to master? That’s what you are thinking, right?"
"I mean, the spear is humanity’s oldest weapon. But as I said, it is easiest to use but hardest to master."
"What you need to understand is the variety of weapons that a Martial Artist can use. Many of them have a sharp edge."
"The shaft of the spear can’t be made with wood while facing an iron sword. It must be made from iron; then you are holding a weapon much heavier than other weapons."
"Now comes the difficult part: you have to learn to balance the spear with your fighting style. If you are agile, this only gets harder."
"If you are a strength-type, the guy who wants to end the battle with a powerful attack, then you need to be able to move the spear with that much accuracy."
"Because if you miss, you will be pretty exposed to the opponent’s attack. In this kind of situation, you need to be skillful at using the spear."
He started using different stances, holding the shaft as he thrust the spear forward, creating a whoosh in the air every time.
"As you can see, this is one of your two main attack methods. Except for those spear tips that have an edge, this will be your only attack method."
"Unlike the sword that can stab and slash, stabbing is the only method, so how do you branch out?"
"That’s exactly what mastering spear use means. Using one attack method to create countless derivatives."
He thrust his spear so fast that it left a sonic boom in the air. Then, he thrust his spear towards a metal dummy, piercing through the metal plate.
He continued by twisting his wrist, allowing the spear tip to attack two places simultaneously.
He used his three fingers to spin the spear in his palm while still holding it, and he used the spear tip to drill through the metal plate.
After doing these four moves, he thrust his spear forward with so much force that it deformed the structure of the metal without poking a hole.
"As you can see, all the attacks were stabs, but by changing attack methods, I was able to create five derivatives."
"But each of those attacks has a proper stance. I can use those attacks without stance because I have mastered my spearmanship."
"Now, it will be your turn. I will show you Four Stances."
"Watch closely; this is the first move!"
As he said that, he crouched slightly, putting his left foot forward while holding the spear in his right hand.
Then, he thrust his spear forward. Throughout his attack, except for his right hand, nothing moved.
"This is the First Stance. In this move, you use the stability of your back and feet to generate strength in your arm."
"There is no specific training method except for continuous practice. Just use the same stance as mine and thrust your spear."
"When your spear starts creating a piercing sound in the air, you have successfully mastered this stance."
"You can use this stance to release powerful attacks that take time with your blood energy."
"Now, let’s go to the Second Stance."
In this stance, he stood straight, holding the spear shaft with both of his hands as he started moving his hands.
His body didn’t move, but his hands kept thrusting the spear in different directions.
He was holding the middle of the spear shaft with his left hand and the end with his right hand.
"As you can see, this stance doesn’t require you to generate strength from your whole body. Instead, it requires a lot of arm strength."
"But it also has one great advantage. You can use this stance to block an enemy’s attack, launch attacks in their vital organs, or even use rapid-fire thrusts."
"The Second Stance is one of the most used stances during a battle, so you must increase your arm strength."
As he said that, he removed his left hand and started using the spear with his right hand.
"This is where you don’t launch powerful moves or rapid fire moves. The Third Stance is made to parry opponent’s attacks while also launching sharp attacks against their vital organs."
"This is also where you can use the sweeping motion of the spear, and it’s incredibly useful if you have an edged spear tip."
He started moving the spear in a circular motion between his spear, showcasing amazing control and power.
"This is what you can do if you manage to use the spear with one hand. This is a defensive move, allowing the user to block bullets with ease."
"But this requires a lot of practice."
"Finally, let’s talk about the Fourth Stance."
Unlike the previous grip, he held the spear like a throwing weapon.
"This stance is rather a one-move attack because it is used to throw your weapon towards your enemy."
"If you can’t finish your enemy with a single strike, then congratulations, you have lost your weapon."
"But this move has one advantage. It can be used as a projectile, and since there are Martial Arts that allow you to throw spear energy at opponents, this has been incorporated into the Four Basic Stances."
"The stance includes your body position. It doesn’t include your spear position. If you talk about spear positions, there are a lot of stances."
"For example, this!"
He raised his spear above his forehead, then he placed it parallel to his waist.
"Or, this!"
He moved the spear parallel to his chest.
"Or, this!"
He held the spear with one hand, pointing it downward while standing sideways.
"This is also a stance."
He grabbed the end of the shaft with both hands and stabbed it upward.
"This is another stance."
He removed his left hand and thrust his spear horizontally.
"This is another stance. Look, my hand is no longer in the middle but at the end. This is different from the Third Stance."
After showcasing these stances, he swung his spear and struck the ground with the blunt end.
"This is your Spear lesson. These are all the stances you need to master. The Four Basic Stances will help you generate power, while the other stances are necessary for different positions."
"This is very important for you. Mastering every stance will require a lot of effort, talent, and time."
"Once you do, you will reach the perfection of the First Level of Spear Technique."
"Remember one thing: the First Level of Spear Technique is all about using the basics of the Spear, nothing more, nothing less."
"Even so, this will be extremely time-consuming and difficult. If you give up in the middle, no one will blame you."
"But if you do manage to master these moves, you will realize the fun of using the spear."
"It’s not just a weapon; it’s an extension of your body. It’s not just your tool but also your friend."
"It is your partner. When you realize the meaning behind these words, you have reached the Second Level of Spear Technique."
