Chapter 89: Chapter 85: Yin Demon

Gloomy and cold!

Chilling!

A terrifying aura made this place feel like hell.

Even with Su Tan’s astonishing Defense Power, he could feel the oppressive weight brought by the bone-piercing cold.

It did not seem like a benevolent place!

"Not used to it? That’s understandable. It wasn’t always like this. Back then, the population of Yin Demons was very small, and there was no Demonic Qi. This place was bathed in Holy Light, akin to the Immortal Realm. But... later, the number of Yin Demons increased, and the Demonic Qi grew dense. That chilling aura seeped out from the cage. The sky-obscuring Demonic Qi began to swallow everything, gradually turning this place into what you see now!"

Seeing how well the Monk understood the Void God Realm, Su Tan realized this guy really was connected to it.

And the connection was not small.

No wonder he could use so many bizarre methods in the Void God Realm. He was far from simple.

But... as a creature of the Void God Realm, one who could casually enter the realm’s control room, he actually stooped to robbing opportunities from minor cultivators... That was just too hard to understand.

Why did he do it?

Was he simply shameless?

"Who exactly are you?!" Su Tan asked coldly.

"Even now, you still don’t know who I am?" The Monk flicked his sleeves and placed his hands behind his back, a half-smile playing on his lips. "Never mind, never mind... Since I am to cooperate with you, I will no longer hide it. I’ll be straightforward with you. I... am Monk Youxin, one of the creators of the Void God Realm! The master of the Void God Realm!" he declared triumphantly.

RUMBLE!

His words exploded like a clap of thunder in the ears of the Little White Wolf and Su Tan.

The Monk was an old monster?

Even though Su Tan had his suspicions, hearing the Monk admit it himself still left him in uncontrollable shock.

This guy really was connected to the Void God Realm. To think he was actually one of its creators.

"The Void God Realm was created by me, the strongest Sacred Body Wuxin, and numerous other legendary existences," the Monk said proudly.

Soon after, his expression dimmed. He lowered his head and let out a long sigh, as if mourning something, reminiscing about the past.

"Alas... in the distant past, my fellow Daoists and I would drink wine and discuss the Dao. With a raise of our hands, our Divine Power could overturn heaven and earth. Our words bloomed like lotuses; we refined stars and were practically omnipotent. How joyful those years were... But alas, looking back, everything has changed. So many figures have been buried in history... So many close friends have turned to dry bones, and so many invincible beings have been annihilated by time. How tragic, how lamentable...

"I... am a person who should have slumbered alongside time itself. What a pity... I still shoulder a mission. I must guard this Void God Realm, watch over the cage, and suppress the Yin Demons... For endless ages... solitude has been my companion, and loneliness my confidant.

"Throughout eternity... I have witnessed my closest friends and loved ones depart one by one. My heart is filled with sorrow... and helplessness. However... I have no complaints and no regrets. Being able to stand guard here, eternally suppressing the Yin Demons to protect the peace of the world—I have never regretted it. I only... have pity. Pity that I can no longer share a drink with my ancient friends. Whenever I miss my beloved friends and family, I can only raise a toast to eternity, and drink to that distant era that belonged to my generation... Cheers!"

At this moment, an indescribable desolation emanated from the Monk. A faint sorrow hung around him...

It looked... almost real.

Su Tan was somewhat believing him at first, but this guy was getting more and more carried away as he spoke... The loopholes in his words were piling up, and it was starting to sound incredibly fake.

It felt like he was just putting on an act!

"If you’re so awesome, why did you go into the Void God Realm to rob people of their Cultivation Techniques? How could such low-level Cultivation Techniques ever catch your eye?" Su Tan spread his hands. "Moreover, why were you unable to subdue even me? Logically speaking, if you are one of the creators of the Void God Realm, this place is essentially your Realm. Within your Realm, how could you let me do as I please?

"You say you were good friends with many ancient Great Powers, but why haven’t I ever heard of you in the historical records? Could it be that you’re just... spouting nonsense?"

The Monk’s face instantly flushed red in awkwardness.

"Ahem... Sigh, later generations do not understand my suffering... To think you actually doubt me. I knew it—even if I told you, you wouldn’t believe it. Never mind, never mind... Let’s not dwell on this. Who I am doesn’t matter. What matters is that we have to go in and reinforce the cage. We can’t let the Yin Demons escape, otherwise... we will truly enter an era of dark turmoil!" The Monk spoke in a tragic, lamentable tone, acting like someone deeply misunderstood.

However, Su Tan felt he was just changing the subject.

No matter how you looked at him, this guy seemed like a God Stick, not a so-called ancient Great Power. He lacked even the slightest hint of a Great Power’s bearing and composure.

But if he wasn’t an ancient Great Power, who could he be?

Who else could enter the control room of the Void God Realm? Who else could become the final barrier guarding against the Yin Demons?

It was truly perplexing.

ROAR!!!

At that moment, a guttural screech carried in from beyond the black smoke, interrupting their conversation.

Unlike the roar of an ordinary beast, this sound was quite piercing. It lacked a Mountain-Flipping Sea-Sweeping momentum, yet it was enough to strike terror into one’s heart. That sound was like a malicious ghost in the night... screaming deep within a dark jungle, catching one entirely off guard.

"It doesn’t matter if you don’t believe me, but you must believe that this is a major event concerning the safety of the world. That terrifying cry just now... was the roar of a Yin Demon! Come here, I’ll let you see just how terrifying it is inside the cage, and exactly how many Yin Demons there are!" the Monk said.

Su Tan was speechless. He was a freaking blind man! How the hell was he supposed to see anything?

The Monk seemed to realize he had misspoken and paused. "I know you can’t see. I can transmit the image directly into your mind so you can perceive it."

Su Tan and the Little White Wolf were very curious about what a Yin Demon actually looked like. They followed the Monk to the edge of the platform.

"Open!"

Using some unknown Magical Treasure, the Monk gave a gentle wave. The black smoke at the edge parted to the left and right, revealing the world outside the mountain pillar.

It was a blood-red world. The sky and the earth were both the color of blood.

Within this blood-colored space, the only striking things were the Yin Demons.

Pitch-black Yin Demons.

The red and black formed a stark visual contrast.

The Yin Demons were grotesquely shaped. They resembled beasts yet walked upright, their bodies covered in jagged spikes that looked like heavenly blades. They had gelatinous skin with the texture of a black toad’s hide.

Their appearance was incredibly ugly, but it was a brazen, fiendishly vicious kind of ugly. Their massive physiques gave them a uniquely ferocious aura.

Outside the mountain pillar, it was packed with Yin Demons. They stretched out as far as the eye could see, constantly battering against the protective barrier shielding the mountain pillar.

Su Tan couldn’t see the Yin Demons, but he could hear their shrieks and the dense, ceaseless pounding against the barrier. Their sky-piercing murderous intent sent a chill down his spine.

It was absolutely terrifying!

His physical instincts warned him. He didn’t even need to see to know that right in front of him... was a horde of horrifying monsters. If he were to accidentally wander into their midst, it would definitely be like a bug falling into an anthill; not even his bones would remain.

"They really... They really are Yin Demons... Heavens... Why are there so many Yin Demons?" The Little White Wolf saw them.

His expression grew uncharacteristically solemn... or rather, fearful!

There weren’t many things that could scare him. At least, Su Tan had never seen the Little White Wolf truly afraid before. But right now... even he was palpitating with fear.

Just what kind of monstrous image lay on the other side?

"One of these things once appeared in the real world. But even though it was just one, it turned the world upside down. Who knows how many living beings lost their lives. Later... it took numerous powerhouses joining forces and paying a massive price just to destroy that single Yin Demon!" Su Tan remarked.

"They’re that terrifying?"

"Logically, their physical bodies shouldn’t match up to Demon Beasts, and their comprehension shouldn’t compare to humans. They shouldn’t pose much of a threat. But in reality, those things grow at an insane rate... The Yin Demon that appeared in the real world back then was only at the Body Refinement Realm when it first showed up. But in just half a year, that guy had already grown to the Peak of Saint Realm. If it had been discovered a step later, it probably would have become a Saint King!" the Little White Wolf explained. "If that horde of monsters across from us all escaped into the real world..."

He didn’t dare to imagine it.
