Chapter 166: Lamia’s Arrival
Chapter 166: Lamia’s Arrival
Leon’s eyes widened slightly. ’Princess? She’s a princess too?’ he wondered as he compared Lamia with Renata.
One belonged to the Phoenix Clan, while the other came from the Serpent Clan. Yet both were Divine Beasts.
’I don’t know whether this is an incredible stroke of fortune... or whether my past self simply planned everything this perfectly.’
By now, Leon no longer doubted Lamia’s words about his past life. Although he still knew nothing about it, he found himself looking forward to uncovering the truth.
A spatial rift opened from the shattered crystal.
"I’ll be taking shelter in your Soul Sanctuary then, Master," Lamia said. The next moment, her figure disappeared, entering Leon’s Soul Sanctuary.
Without the slightest hesitation, Leon stepped into the rift. A moment later, he emerged inside Jenny’s hospital room.
The instant he appeared, Stanley, Jessica, Frenrir, and Noira all rose to their feet.
Earlier, Noira had already explained to them what she and her brother truly were. At first, Stanley found it difficult to believe such an unbelievable thing, but after witnessing Noira transform with his own eyes, neither he nor Jessica had any reason to doubt her.
Since then, they had been eagerly waiting for Leon’s arrival.
Because Frenrir had told them that Leon had gone to bring back another beast.
And he had proudly claimed that this one...
Was beyond any rank or class they could even imagine. Even if every hunter in this world stood on one side while the newcomer stood alone on the other, she would only need to lift a single finger to erase them all.
Because of that, both Stanley and Jessica waited with undisguised anticipation.
However, when Leon stepped out of the spatial rift, Stanley and Jessica saw only him.
Only the two of them, though.
Frenrir and Noira had already sensed the icy aura silently spreading throughout the room.
"Mr. Cooper, you’re still here?" Leon asked in surprise.
"Uh... yes." Stanley cleared his throat awkwardly. "We heard you were bringing another... friend. So we decided to stay and meet this new friend of yours."
Someone who could stand against every hunter in the world... Just the thought of such an existence was terrifying. So he and Jessica were desperate to see who it was.
In truth, even Leon had no idea what kind of being he had brought back with him.
Before he could say anything else, Lamia stepped out of his Soul Sanctuary.
The moment Stanley and Jessica saw her, they were left completely speechless. She looked less like a living person and more like a flawless sculpture carefully crafted by a deity.
"It’s nice to meet you," Lamia said politely.
However, there was very little warmth in her voice.
After all, she had already made her opinion of humans clear during her previous conversation with Emily.
And only now did Stanley and Jessica truly feel the aura radiating from Lamia.
Earlier, they hadn’t sensed anything because she had been inside Leon’s Soul Sanctuary. Frenrir and Noira, however, had felt her presence all along due to their connection as Leon’s tamed beasts.
The instant her aura washed over them, both Stanley and Jessica stiffened.
An overwhelming chill ran down their spines.
"I-It’s... nice to meet you too," the two replied almost in unison.
Leon then turned to Stanley. "Mr. Cooper, please don’t mind, but I’ll have to leave for the moment."
Stanley nodded.
Leon shifted his gaze to Lamia. "This is my sister," he said, pointing at Jenny. "Can you please look after her while I’m away?"
He paused before continuing. "Just two days ago, a Disaster Class knight and ten S-Class knights attacked her. More precisely, they were trying to abduct her. I’m worried they’ll try again while I’m gone."
’Until I find out who those people are, I can’t let my guard down,’ Leon thought. ’This time, I caught them off guard by using Berserk Mode. As long as it’s active, I don’t believe anyone can match me. But once that single minute is over, I’ll be left helpless for who knows how long. If they come prepared next time, things could become dangerous.’
His eyes settled on Lamia. ’But her... she’s far beyond anything I can imagine. As long as she’s by Jenny’s side, no one will be able to harm my sister.’
Hearing his request, Lamia’s expression dimmed slightly. "How long will you be away, Master?"
"For now, I’m going to take a test. So it won’t be much long."
"A test?" Lamia blinked. "Is it a battle? Then there’s no way I am staying behind, master. We’ll take your sister with us and watch it together."
She was already walking toward Jenny, clearly intending to pick her up.
"No, no, no!" Leon hurriedly stopped her. "She’s still injured. And it isn’t a battle. I have my college finals. It’s a written exam... that kind of test."
"College?" Lamia frowned in confusion. "A written exam? Why would you waste your time on something so trivial?"
Leon blinked.
So did Stanley and Jessica.
Only Frenrir and Noira managed to force awkward smiles.
Leon glanced at the time on his phone before speaking hurriedly. "Lamia, I don’t have time to explain everything right now. Can you please take care of Jenny while I’m away?"
"Very well, Master." Lamia nodded. "Since she’s your sister, she’s my sister as well. Go and do whatever you need to do. Just come back as soon as you can."
"Thanks."
Leon then turned to Noira. "Please take me to the college. I’m running out of time."
"Of course, Master."
With a wave of her hand, Noira opened another spatial rift. The two of them stepped inside and disappeared.
Silence filled the hospital room. Stanley and Jessica could only stare blankly at the spot where they had vanished.
Leon...
He felt more like a mirage than a real person.
The abilities he possessed at such a young age, the beings who stood by his side, and the unbelievable events that seemed to follow him wherever he went...
None of it felt normal anymore.
It never had.
But now...
It had gone far beyond the limits of common sense.
