Chapter 858: Chapter 75: Gains from Drinking with the Immortal

Suddenly, Li Xin felt that the Immortal was also staring at the wine, his eyes full of soul fire flickering. The gourmet association’s cuisine is one of the few things that can awaken the taste buds above the angels, maybe this wine can too.

"Immortal Sir, if you’re free, would you like to have a drink together?" Li Xin tentatively asked.

The Immortal slowly turned to look at Li Xin, hesitated for a moment, and nodded.

Li Xin was overjoyed, this wine has something special, perhaps even more potent than the gourmet association’s dishes.

Having a good connection helps things go smoothly. It was rare to encounter something that caught the Immortal’s interest, so Li Xin hurriedly moved a chair. Although there were no wine glasses, the bowl for drinking water would suffice, and drinking wine is lonely when alone but signifies friendship when shared by two.

The amber-colored Monkey Wine was poured into the bowl, Li Xin lifted the bowl lightly to clink, "This is the ceremonial feeling of drinking wine."

As the bowl of wine entered, a refreshing and pungent sensation went down the throat, followed by an invigorating mellow aroma slowly spreading in the mouth, with a lingering finish.

Li Xin smiled as he looked at the Immortal, and the soul fire in the Immortal’s eyes flickered as well, clearly appreciating the benefits of this wine.

The Immortal of the Secret Castle was once a mighty being, but the curse of immortality and the long years wiped away excess humanity, or perhaps only numbness remained.

Those with eternal life besides the Immortal included the Divine Being, experiencing or about to experience the ultimate form of eternal life.

Divine Beings clearly had it much better than the Immortals, while for them, living was simply living; indeed it was a curse.

The Immortal placed the empty bowl in front of Li Xin. Li Xin smiled and filled it, "This is Monkey Wine, rumored to be brewed by monkeys on Spirit Mountain, quite rare. This small bottle is for Ma Liu, let him study it. Maybe he can figure out how to make similar wine, and we won’t be short of drinks anymore."

The Immortal did not respond, merely looked at the bowl of wine, lifted it to clink with Li Xin.

Li Xin smiled and raised his bowl, "Cheers."

This fine wine seemed more fitting when drunk from a bowl than a glass.

After three bowls, Li Xin began to feel excited, "The Secret Castle is impressive, despite the supposedly exclusionary laws of the Divine Land, you can still come and go freely."

The Immortal gently placed the empty bowl down, reaching into his bosom to retrieve an ancient scroll, a contract.

Looking at the unfolded contract, the contents detailed a collaboration between the Divine Land and Secret Castle, allowing the Immortal to travel in and out of Divine Land, while the Divine Land could participate in the inheritance of the Secret Castle’s Divine Relic.

"Wow, it’s possible!" Li Xin placed his bowl down, picked up the jug, pouring it fully for the Immortal, and himself.

Indeed, only with sufficient power did laws become bargaining chips. This was not to say the Immortal of the Secret Castle was immune from the Divine Land’s law obliterations but rather that such obliterations couldn’t break the curse of immortality. The Divine Land’s allowance meant the State Lord and Golden Scale Guard wouldn’t interfere.

...On the flip side, it suggested the Secret Castle had enough influence in the Divine Land, so couldn’t he keep on benefiting from this tiger’s might?

With a contract, it meant the Immortal wasn’t afraid of being seen by others!

"Immortal Sir, cheers, I salute you, thank you for your care!" Li Xin poured praise shamelessly, unsure whether this emotional value affected the Immortal, but a welcoming smile was always correct.

This jug of Monkey Wine hadn’t been drunk much last time and was kept by Li Xin, enough for him and the Immortal to drink. Such magical wine made the Immortal’s stably burning soul flame become exceptionally active.

Suddenly, the Immortal opened another blank Contract Scroll, and with his withered fingers tapping on the scroll, black soul fire writing began to appear: You have two unusual powers within you.

"Oh, yes, one is remnants of the Bloodthirsty Monarch, and one should be power nicknamed the creator from the Song of Hell’s singer. There currently seems to be no way to dispel them."

The Immortal’s finger tapped the scroll again, and Hera Language reappeared on the scroll, "The Divine Land’s Cultivation Techniques can refine it."

The two powers currently didn’t affect Li Xin, but they were always a worry, and Li Xin had always wanted to deal with them, but to no avail.

"Thank you, Immortal Sir, I salute you three bowls!" Li Xin said.

Li Xin and the Immortal drank heartily, but the jug of Monkey Wine also reached its bottom. The two drank bowl after bowl, but even more wouldn’t suffice. Though unwilling to stop, they ran out, and the Immortal stood up, taking away the bag Li Xin intended to give Ma Liu.

Seeing the Immortal disappear into the mist, Li Xin rubbed his mouth, from one session of drinking to gaining two incredibly useful pieces of information, cultivation technique...

The Immortal didn’t mention which cultivation technique, Martial Heart Sect... yes, the Martial Heart Sect used to be an Earth-level Sect and shared origins with the current first Major Sect, Ten Thousand Swords Sect, so the cultivation techniques shouldn’t be lacking.

Try to get hold of Martial Heart Sect’s Martial Heart Technique; if it doesn’t work, then consider other options.

By now, dawn was breaking, and Li Xin lay down on the bed for a little rest. Life in the Divine Land began to settle into a routine.

In the morning, birds on the mountain were already having their first meal; these birds were mostly colorful, their calls crisp, indeed more beautiful than those outside, though it’s uncertain how good they are when roasted.

Fang Chi was already down for breakfast, and much of Martial Heart Sect’s members adhered to the rules, but Fang Chi was different; he liked to eat abundantly. In his words, the Young Sect Master is the sect’s face, if he doesn’t eat well, it’s not good for the sect, so whenever he was up, he’d come down for his exclusive meal; Fatty Nine and Idiot Zhu knew how to serve people well.

When Li Xin arrived, the two henchmen were revolving around Fang Chi. Seeing Li Xin, Fang Chi frowned slightly, "Where’ve you been all day without saying?"

Li Xin glanced at Fatty Nine and Idiot Zhu, both showing innocent expressions.

"What are you looking at? I’m asking you, though you’re temporarily in charge of the outer sect, that’s both power and responsibility. You must manage well for me to let you, if not, I’ll replace you!" Fang Chi pretended to be mature.

"Young Sect Master, step closer for a word." Li Xin said.

"Junior Brother Li, is there anything that can’t be said in front of everyone?" Gan Jiu said, feigning surprise.

"It’s about sect management and development, I have some immature thoughts to consult with the Young Sect Master. Is it something a cook and a menial disciple chopping wood and fetching water can get involved with?" Li Xin asked quizzically.

Fang Chi glanced at Li Xin’s bulging waist, put down his chopsticks, "You two carry on with your tasks, I say Li Xin, because I am the Young Sect Master, that is to teach and caution him. You two carry on, soon it’ll be meal time, the junior brothers and sisters have had a heavy training schedule lately, hurry up, finish well and deliver up!"

Gan Jiu and Shi Dazhu stood frozen, Fang Chi frowned, "What, do you two plan to rebel?"

Gan Jiu and Shi Dazhu quickly activated, while Li Xin followed Fang Chi outside.

Fang Chi put his hands on his waist looking at Li Xin, "Now, tell me what you’ve been doing every day, you’re hardly seen, all the work left to Fatty Nine and Idiot Zhu. Your days seem more fulfilling than mine as the Young Sect Master."

Li Xin quickly pulled out a small pouch from his bosom, inside were several Lira and Spirit Stones, of course, only a small portion, dealing with young ones requires a gradual approach, overindulging once makes it difficult later.

Fang Chi initially only aimed for some pocket money, but didn’t expect Li Xin would get Spirit Stones, including Lower Grade ones, even a Middle Grade Spirit Stone, his gaze suddenly softened: "Junior Brother Li, where’d you get these?"
