I Have a Dice Left by a God
Chapter 859 - 76: Original Martial Heart Technique
Hearing Fang Chi's title, Li Xin couldn't help but laugh; actually, such a Young Sect Master wasn't so bad.
"Young Sect Master, I've been busy with this matter these past days. Sect Master Fang saved my life, how could I not repay him? Although my abilities are limited, I'm an outsider, and there are quite a few outsiders in the Divine Land. Don't we have a hometown association? When they learned I joined the Martial Heart Sect, everyone was optimistic about me. So I managed to borrow some things for our sect to use, even if it's not much, it's a token of appreciation. I'll continue finding ways to gather more," Li Xin said.
Fang Chi's lips almost broke into a smile, but then his gaze turned sharp as he thought of something: "Li Xin, you wouldn't be falsely representing the Martial Heart Sect, would you? If my sister finds out, she'll flay you, and nobody will be able to protect you!"
"How could I? I understand the rules. Our Martial Heart Sect is a prestigious and upright sect, a respectable Zhengyang Sect that takes saving lives and upholding justice as its mission. I used to be in the Night Patrol, you know that, I wouldn't do anything illegal," Li Xin replied with a wry smile.
"Nice words, but do you think Spirit Stones are easy to obtain just because you're an Outer Disciple of the Martial Heart Sect?" Fang Chi looked coldly at Li Xin, his gaze gradually becoming severe, "You wouldn't be treating me like a child, would you?"
Li Xin was speechless; this kid actually had brains.
"Young Sect Master, how could you think of me like that? You, dignified as you are as the Young Sect Master of the Martial Heart Sect, might not feel it, but do you know how tough it is for us outsiders? Some are quite wealthy and well-developed, rooted in the Divine Land by their skills, acquiring wealth, but without a sect, they're either suppressed by others. Knowing I've entered the Martial Heart Sect brings them joy, even if I'm just an Outer Disciple. With your support, I'll eventually become an Inner Sect Disciple. We outsiders in the Divine Land just want peace and not to be bullied. They probably just pin their hopes on me, and if I don't progress over time, they won't sponsor me anymore. But rest assured, borrowings are my responsibility, not the sect's, and you don't have to worry about it either, to avoid future troubles," Li Xin assured, patting his chest.
His heartfelt words made Fang Chi feel embarrassed, knowing the rules of the Divine Land. Unless one enters as a child, recognition by a sect as an adult is unlikely.
Seeing Li Xin's eyes almost turn red, Fang Chi cleared his throat, "I didn't mean it that way. Well, my sister's willingness to save you with a Guiyuan Pill already proves you're a decent person and you've done many good deeds. I can't take advantage of your kindness. Since it's all for the sect, go ahead, you can make a reasonable request. But don't ask to become an Inner Sect Disciple; that's my sister's decision, and it'll take at least three months."
"Young Sect Master, given my current state, meeting the Sect Master's requirements even after three months will be tough. External cultivation methods differ from those in the Divine Land. I'm starting from scratch. Is it possible for me to learn the Martial Heart Technique to establish a foundation?" Li Xin inquired.
Fang Chi glanced at Li Xin, hesitated, then suddenly slapped his thigh, "Teaching is prohibited, but if I accidentally lose something and you coincidentally find it, you don't understand the rules anyway. Just have a look, and return it to me by tomorrow morning. How much you learn is up to you, don't tell anyone."
"I understand, Young Sect Master!" Li Xin promised, patting his chest.
Fang Chi handed over a gold-glowing jade and silk slip, "I've lifted the restriction on it. You can enter by channeling your Spiritual Ability. This is the unabridged Martial Heart Technique of our Martial Heart Sect. The operational laws are a bit complex; don't try to understand it all. Focus on the main meridians, and return it to me tomorrow."
"Thank you, Young Sect Master!"
Fang Chi patted Li Xin's shoulder, "Junior Brother Li, work hard. I have faith in you; when I become the Sect Master, I'll find a position for you as an Elder at the very least. Fatty Nine and Idiot Zhu just reported you for damaging sect property and occupying new housing."
"It's my fault; they challenged me last night, and we accidentally wrecked the place. Gan Jiu said the house in Dong Nanjia was vacant and I could live there. I'll move out shortly," Li Xin said helplessly.
"No need to move, stay there. You're the Outer Sect Steward, be strict. Don't let them bully you; if they dare retaliate, tell me."
"No, Gan Jiu and Shi Dazhu have actually been very supportive of me."
Fang Chi shook his head helplessly, thinking Li Xin was too kind-hearted. They say Night Patrol are rigid, and indeed, they are.
"Junior Brother Li, ahem, tell your townsfolk, Spirit Stones are better than Gold Coins."
"I got it, Young Sect Master!"
Fang Chi walked away cheerfully, knowing Gold Liras do little but with Spirit Stones it's a different story. The sect, now without levels, finds Spirit Stones extremely scarce. He's been swindling others for them, having little left for regular training, it's hard to satisfy oneself without using Spirit Stones.
Unexpectedly, Li Xin gave him a pleasant surprise, acknowledging his sister's sense.
During the day, Gan Jiu and Shi Dazhu didn't dare cause trouble. Fang Qingning and others hadn't come down at all, their training intensity increasing. Elder Wang reportedly contacted other sects in Cloud Mist Mountain for sect sparring to assess recent cultivation results.
Li Xin returned to his room, shut the door, set a restriction, and took out the jade and silk slip Fang Chi had given him. The texture felt like jade, but when struck, it sounded metallic and was intricately carved, seemingly ancient.
Li Xin slowly channeled Spiritual Ability, immediately feeling his soul being drawn into a space, akin to a Round Table Conference experience, not a big deal.
Entering a marvelous introspective state, his soul had a third-party view overlooking his body and the humanoid projection forming in the jade and silk slip. The body appeared transparent and was illuminated by Spiritual Ability.
The projection showcased, with the head and the Dantian as two cores, surrounded by over a dozen bright main meridians, dense branching networks encircling the main meridians, called meridians.
The cultivation techniques of the Divine Land drive one's own Spiritual Ability through the meridians to gain great power, a tradition from ancient times when Spiritual Energy was abundant. However, the present Spiritual Energy in the Divine Land is scarce, making it challenging to operate techniques solely with one's own Spiritual Ability, requiring the aid of Spirit Stones. Completing the meridian operation is called Small Circulation, comprising dozens to nearly a hundred meridians, varying with different techniques.
Completing full meridian and spectrum operations is called Grand Circulation.
In the Ancient Dragon Era, cultivators could complete Grand Circulation using strong spatial Spiritual Energy. But with energy waning, achieving a Grand Circulation has become extremely difficult, even impossible, with any interruption risking deviation. Thus, sect techniques have simplified, abandoning most meridians.
New jade and silk transmissions have seen many changes, as strong sects retain needed meridians per their characteristics. The entire process involved centuries of exploration, preserving much of the original technique's power within limited Spiritual Power.
As the Young Sect Master of the Martial Heart Sect, Fang Qingning entrusted the original jade and silk scroll of the sect's lineage to Fang Chi. Her ultimate wish is to train her brother to become the sect master, returning the sect to its former glory.
