Chapter 860: Chapter 77: Mosel

Mosel Kingdom, Cantona sat in the luxurious carriage, finding solace in being away from the islands and feeling grounded once more.

His current identity was that of a noble in the Mosel Kingdom, the secret channel of the Death Church. This noble had long been made into a semi-permanent skin suit by the Death Church. At this moment, Cantona wore this skin suit, having just escaped from a nobles’ banquet.

The power of the Death Church extended further than he imagined, and he was beginning to gradually reach some of its core areas.

Among the followers of the Death God, there must be a mask maker angel, otherwise, such a masterpiece couldn’t be created. The other party was walking the darkest path of the retro genre. Previously, he underestimated the Death Church, and now he realized it was his own naivety. If it were so easy to deal with, his teacher wouldn’t have been so cautious.

The waters here were too deep and too dark.

The carriage stopped at the noble’s mansion.

The moonlight was bright, shining through the wrought iron fences of the estate. A group of servants welcomed their master’s return. They weren’t believers of the Death God and were unaware that their master had long been replaced. When not needed, this noble would leave under the pretense of maritime trade, only returning in this precious skin suit for important Mosel festivals to maintain the noble’s image and status.

Cantona dismissed the servants to the secondary house and activated the secret array of the main house. In the moonlight, the main house was eerily silent.

In the bedroom, Lunalei crawled out of bed and twisted in front of Cantona. Her crimson nails grazed the face of the skin suit, "Aren’t you going to use Haus’s face to enjoy yourself with me for a bit?"

Cantona reversed his grip and pinned her back to the bed, applying pressure until she couldn’t breathe: "Didn’t I tell you not to use your seductive woman’s tactics on me?"

Lunalei twisted, her body like a boneless snake, her eyes blurry as she squeezed her words from her chest with her last breath, soft and sweet: "But what can I do, I really need a man now, a very strong man."

Cantona flung her aside, watching her as she gasped for air, her chest heaving, so stark white that it blinded. He couldn’t discern the truth in her words.

He raised his hand, fingers threading through thick hair until he touched a seam so fine. His nail traced it lightly, like peeling a long scar, and with a slight shiver of his hand, he injected a special, fluctuating hidden power. The skin suit slipped down noiselessly under the drive of the hidden power, then neatly rolled into a sticky ball.

"Hm... your original look is indeed more handsome, but it’s more thrilling to be sneaky,"

She was a seductive woman, her entire being exuding an attitude of love and need for him. The love was false, but the need was real. Hers was the kind of gaze that looked lovingly even at a dog. Cantona’s gaze darkened slightly as he extended a hand to control her again. He knew she truly needed nourishment, and he too needed some relaxation. The Death Church kept pushing harder, and acquiring the Wish Crystal perhaps was not just a task.

Renalei was like a tide, requesting wave after relentless wave. When their legs entwined, Cantona sometimes felt they weren’t intimate but wrestling in an arena, both striving to suppress the other. He could feel she was drawing a special hidden power of the seductive woman’s path from this extreme confrontation.

A sleepless night, when dawn broke, Renalei sighed with contentment and appeared radiant with satisfaction: "It’s good you’re here. Recently, I didn’t find other men... so I kind of erupted ahead of time."

There were multiple paths for a seductive woman, some who resisted their instincts to draw power, which was a difficult path but yielded great strength, a wealth of techniques, and very high potential.

Others like Renalei indulged in pleasure, drawing power from their pleasure and that of dual cultivation partners. They progressed quickly and had many methods but limited power, often serving as auxiliary means. In battle, their combat capacity was less than culinary masters of the same realm. However, seductive women who chose this path rarely faced direct annihilation from others, not due to strength, but because regardless of gender, at the final strike, people often hesitated looking at a seductive woman’s face, even in deep hatred, sometimes averting their eyes and turning their heads to kill... Cantona experienced this deeply.

"Speak about the task," Cantona said as he retrieved the skin suit again. The hidden power interfaced with it, and the rolled-up suit instantly transformed into mucilage, climbing and growing like slime mold till in a few breaths, it seamlessly covered Cantona, sealing his true aura. A Mosel man in his thirties stood by the bed.

"Heartless man." Lunalei gave a seductive smile, raising a snow-white long leg at him, her toes pointed, slowly pulling the black stocking over her foot with elasticity, pressing tightly to her skin.

"The latest intelligence, the Third Prince of Mosel also acquired a piece of Wish Crystal." She tugged at the stocking, her voice lazy: "So, our target now can include the Third Prince. Also, it has just been uncovered that Balang is an ally of the Crown Prince. How is your side?"

Lunalei finished putting on one stocking, gave Cantona a look, then lifted her other white leg, pointing her toes at his eyes as she leisurely continued with the second one.

Cantona’s gaze was deep, "This identity has been well maintained, always in business abroad. Now, drawing the Third Prince’s attention through smuggling Hex-Tech cores is not difficult."

A photo of a Hex-Tech Core and a prophecy from a trustworthy Divination Master were the backbones. Of course, the core was real, and the smuggling to Mosel was real, but not belonging to Cantona’s current identity, instead intended as new assets from the Death Church being planted in Mosel.

He spoke while bowing slightly to don his clothes, concealing his gaze. After a night of madness, he should be in absolute sage mode now, yet Lunalei’s simple teasing just now unexpectedly aroused a physical reaction in him again!

His heart was stirred. How far was she from becoming a Preparatory Angel? Or perhaps she already was one?

Lunalei was completely unaware that her routine teasing had aroused Cantona’s curiosity about her strength. After putting on her stockings, she didn’t wear shoes, stepping directly onto the white carpet. The stark contrast of black and white formed a strong visual impact, and her expression was particularly indifferent and serious: "It needs to be hurried, the Church is already dissatisfied with the progress of the mission."

...

The next evening, the court banquet.

Cantona received a special invitation to the gaudy golden banquet hall. He, or rather the identity of this mask, Captain Haus, was like a fish in water here. A Mosel person who could transition from Li Long to a Hex-Tech Core was quite the celebrity these days.

Li Long mastered the most advanced Hex technology on the whole Dao Yuan Continent, yet it was still restrained by capacity and technology. The number of cores produced each year could be counted on one’s fingers. One technological core equated to one Hex production line, and what exactly it was depended on the number and technical configuration of the supporting Hex technology production modules.

An eunuch approached briskly: "Sir Haus, the Crown Prince wishes to speak with you."

Cantona glanced at the eunuch, slightly bowing. That gesture was not one to be easily refused. He didn’t move, merely took a sip of wine: "I wonder what guidance the Crown Prince has."

The eunuch’s gaze flickered, "Naturally, it is about the Hex-Tech Core in your possession. This is the latest technology, and His Highness said you may name your price and ensures your business will be unimpeded throughout the Netherworld Sea."

Cantona maintained a proper smile; such promises of smooth business were evidently redundant, implying a reversed threat, "It’s a pity, the core I acquired by chance has major defects and is currently being calibrated, making short-term selling impossible."

The eunuch’s face momentarily stiffened, then recovered: "We can acquire the technical staff along with it."

Cantona smirked: "Acquiring Hex Technology researchers? Is this His Highness’s intention or yours? Does Mosel have the groundwork for them to continue research and development of Hex Technology? At best, these researchers only agreed to assist in calibration on Five Claw Island, and... I am not necessarily inclined to sell it to the Crown Prince, am I?"

"Well said."

A cold voice came from the side. The Third Prince, Gael, approached, his gaze sharp as a knife toward the eunuch, "Get out, and tell my dear brother that Father has already entrusted me with this matter."

Gael turned his scrutinizing gaze upon Cantona, as if he could see through him. Cantona maintained a smile, "Greetings, Prince Gael."

"You needn’t rush to set up a production line," Gael said with a smile.

The Crown Prince’s goal was to expand his power, hoping to arm his troops with Hex Guns, while what Gael wanted was to enhance Mosel as a whole.

Cantona inclined slightly, "Due to the core’s defects, there are currently only two application venues. One is producing average-power Hex Bombs, roughly equivalent to a full-force strike of a Two-Life Knight, limited by materials hence costly. Another is the more powerful enhanced Hex-Tech Gun. However, if calibration succeeds, perhaps there are other options too."

Gael nodded, showing no expression on his face.

And just then, Cantona suddenly changed the subject, "Prince Gael, what do you think of Duke Balang?"

There was still nothing ascertainable on Gael’s face, merely a slight eyebrow raise indicating Cantona should proceed. He would not directly express his views.

"Recently, I heard a matter: the Crown Prince once saved Duke Balang’s life, but upon this return, I heard Duke Balang is very close to you, Prince Gael, and somewhat indifferent to the Crown Prince."

The air solidified.

Cantona chuckled, "It might be my misinformation. Please forgive me, Your Highness."

Finally, a hint of a smile appeared on Gael’s face, then widened, revealing two neat rows of teeth, gleaming white. He raised his glass toward Cantona: "Then it was your mistake."

The two clinked their glasses, the crisp collision sound being exceptionally harmonious and melodious.
