"Of course I am," Theo Rhodes admitted readily.

"And I suppose your family is loaded?"

"My dad’s the chairman of Rhodes Apex Group. You didn’t know?"

"Three cars entered and exited Xenogen Pharmacy last night. I’ve already got people running checks on them. I’ve also sent people to discreetly investigate St. Nina’s Private Hospital. Once we have irrefutable evidence, someone else will take over the next steps. Then, we can write our story."

"So, we just wait for the results now?"

Claire Sinclair nodded. Then, a thought occurred to her. "How exactly did you get rid of Joan Jacobs earlier?"

"I told her to find proof that we slept together. She’s probably at a hospital right now."

"This is a woman who betrayed Cyrus Marshall for money. She won’t hesitate to come after you. You should head back for now."

Theo looked confused. "Back where?"

"Back to Aethelgard. Don’t let Joan Jacobs find you. If she manages to pin something on you, or worse, gets humiliated and hires people to come after you, you’ll be in real danger."

But Theo, with the classic fearlessness of youth, was undaunted. "I’m not scared, Master. Besides, with you here, I have even less reason to be."
