Chapter 585: Chapter 585: I Seriously Suspect You’ll Be Unfriendly to the Baby in the Future
Theo Rhodes wanted to book a presidential suite as well, but they were all taken, so he had to settle for a standard room.
With their accommodations settled, Claire Sinclair pulled out her laptop, ready to go over her work from the past few days with him, hoping it would help with his own work.
However, to her surprise, The Great Demon King Quincy pulled her into the room, ready to make a move.
Claire Sinclair stopped him just in time. "I feel like I haven’t had my period in a long time. Do you think it’s possible I’m pregnant?"
Adrian Quincy’s expression turned serious. He silently pulled out his phone and called Helen Wallace. "Go buy a pregnancy test."
After hanging up, he fixed his wife’s slightly messy hair with a hint of reluctance. "Claire, I’m starting to have some regrets."
"Regret what?"
"I shouldn’t have agreed to us having a baby so soon."
"Why?" Claire Sinclair felt a little surge of panic, afraid he was about to go back on his word.
Adrian Quincy gently tapped her on the nose and complained with a helpless sigh, "If you’re pregnant, I won’t be able to touch you for at least a year and a half. And you’ll pour all your love into the baby. You’ll neglect me."
Claire Sinclair couldn’t help but laugh. "I’m not even pregnant yet, and you’re already getting jealous of our future baby?"
Adrian Quincy admitted freely, "I’d go insane."
"So do you want me to be pregnant, or not?"
"..."
His silence meant he was thinking, not hesitating.
He almost never hesitated in her presence. The only exception was when he couldn’t bring himself to tell her about the miscarriage.
It was unexpected that the topic of a child had become the one thing he was most unwilling to contemplate.
In the end, Adrian Quincy relented. "Let’s just let nature take its course," he said calmly.
"Saying it like that makes me seriously suspect you won’t be very good to our baby in the future!"
"Claire, whether it’s you or the baby, I’ll cherish you both. But I will always love you just a little bit more. No one can ever dream of taking your place in my heart."
’...’ ’What else could she say to that?’
’Oh, well. Let nature take its course.’
Claire Sinclair took his hand and led him back to the laptop. "Adrian, let me show you the fruits of my labor from the past few days."
"Alright," Adrian Quincy nodded.
Claire Sinclair opened her laptop and played the videos and audio files she had collected for him.
There was quite a lot of material, so she only showed him the key clips and verbally summarized the rest. Finally, she said, "The people you lent me are still out there looking for more evidence. I believe we’ll have results soon."
Adrian Quincy’s face was grim, and he said expressionlessly, "The network behind Miracle Health Clinic likely goes far beyond what you’ve found. I received some solid intelligence myself before I arrived. Things are about to be turned upside down here."
Claire Sinclair tilted her head back to meet his gaze, her own eyes filled with resolve. "I’ll be right by your side to help!"
The words had barely left her mouth when the doorbell rang.
Adrian Quincy started to get the door, but Claire Sinclair, guessing it was Helen Wallace back with ’that thing’, rushed to the door first and opened it.
Helen Wallace was drenched in sweat. She let out a sigh of relief and said, "This godforsaken place... it took me half an hour of running around to find a decent pharmacy. I’m dying of heat."
As she spoke, she handed Claire a white plastic bag.
Claire Sinclair thanked her and, unable to wait, hurried back inside and went straight to the bathroom.
Adrian Quincy gazed at the closed bathroom door, shaking his head with a smile.
’She hadn’t gotten pregnant all those other times, so he wasn’t taking this too seriously. He’d bought the pregnancy test mainly to put her mind at ease... and hopefully, get the green light from her afterward.’
His gaze fell back to the laptop, and he clicked on the video that had made him suspicious earlier.
