Chapter 586: Chapter 586: Marriage and Childbirth Are a Normal Part of Life
He waited for several minutes, but his wife still hadn’t come out.
Adrian Quincy grew a little suspicious. He walked up to the bathroom door and knocked. "Claire, what are you doing in there?"
’She’s been in there for so long. Could she be pregnant?’
The next moment, the door opened.
Claire Sinclair grabbed his hand and pulled him over to the toilet. She looked down with a distressed expression at the pregnancy test in the bowl, its result hidden from view.
"Adrian, I accidentally dropped the pregnancy test in the toilet. I want to get it, but I just can’t bring myself to do it."
Adrian Quincy stared at the "corpse" of the pregnancy test lying in the toilet, his brow furrowing slightly. "I’ll have Helen buy a new one."
"Then what about this one?" Claire Sinclair asked, pointing at the toilet.
"We’ll call housekeeping to come take care of it."
"Um..." Claire Sinclair said, a little embarrassed. "That would be such a bother for them. Besides, what if word gets out? It could be bad for your reputation."
Adrian Quincy wasn’t concerned. "Claire, getting married and having children is a normal part of life. There’s nothing to be ashamed of."
"But..."
"Would you rather pick it up yourself?"
"It’s a little... you know... dirty." Claire Sinclair couldn’t hide her disgust.
Adrian Quincy said in a low voice, "I can’t really bring myself to do it, either."
’It’s more like you can’t bring yourself to do it at all!’
Claire Sinclair looked up at him, and then, as if suddenly remembering something, she exclaimed, "I just remembered! I have a pair of disposable chopsticks in my bag!"
With that, she ran out excitedly, returning a moment later.
She took out the disposable chopsticks, carefully plucked the pregnancy test from the toilet, and tossed it into the trash can.
As she did so, she caught sight of two red lines on the test. She froze for a moment before reaching out and tugging on his sleeve. "Adrian, I think... are those two lines?"
Adrian Quincy glanced down, his brow furrowing slightly. He couldn’t shake a bad feeling.
"If a pregnancy test falls in the toilet, would that affect the result?" Claire Sinclair asked.
This was a first for Adrian Quincy. Even though he’d read up on the basics of pregnancy, he wasn’t sure what to make of this particular situation.
After a long moment, Adrian Quincy said, "We’ll buy a new one and you can test again."
"Okay." ’I guess that’s the only thing to do in this situation.’
Before leaving the bathroom, Claire Sinclair couldn’t help but glance back at the pregnancy test in the trash can, her feelings a complicated mix.
’Two lines means pregnant, but this test fell in the toilet, so...’
’I probably can’t take it seriously, right?’
Adrian Quincy called Helen Wallace in again and instructed, "Go and buy another pregnancy test."
"Didn’t I just buy one? Another one?" Helen Wallace groaned, instinctively turning to look at Claire Sinclair.
Claire Sinclair looked embarrassed. "I accidentally dropped it in the toilet..."
Helen Wallace was speechless. "I’ve gotta hand it to you. Someone who can’t even hold onto a pregnancy test... Just wait. A round trip to the nearest pharmacy will take half an hour."
she said, already heading for the door.
Claire Sinclair felt terrible. Looking up at the man’s coolly handsome face, she asked, "Did I just cause trouble for Sister Helen?"
Adrian Quincy said in a deep voice, "Running an errand isn’t trouble."
"But it’s so hot outside. I’d probably get heatstroke if I were out there for just ten minutes."
"Helen isn’t as delicate as you are."
Claire Sinclair pouted. "It’s not like I’m weak on purpose..."
Adrian Quincy took her small hand, led her back to the computer, and had her sit down. "Claire, I didn’t mean to make fun of you."
Claire Sinclair rested her head on his arm and looked up at him. "So, tell me... if I am pregnant, will you be happy?"
