Chapter 724: Chapter 724: Whose Child Is It?

Ivy Tanner’s final words on the matter were, "Ethan Kingsley is a volatile man. I won’t fight him, but I won’t listen to him either—not unless he shows up in front of me."

Granny signed something to her, then turned and left.

Ivy Tanner went back to watering her vegetables, paying no mind to his threats. ’If he has the guts, he can come deal with me himself.’

And as it turned out, the very next day, the man actually came. He was alone.

As Ethan Kingsley approached the log cabin, he saw her from a distance, crouched on the ground. She was carefully reaching a hand toward a vegetable plant, though he couldn’t tell what she was doing.

Just then, Granny suddenly came out, signing frantically as if something terrible had happened.

Ivy Tanner looked up at her, smiled, and said, "Granny, there’s a caterpillar here. It’s so cute!"

’Dammit!’

Ethan Kingsley understood Granny’s signs. He strode over, yanked the girl up from the ground, and snapped, "That kind of caterpillar stings! Don’t touch it!"

Ivy Tanner froze, startled by his sudden appearance. Just as she was about to speak, a wave of itchiness washed over her arm.

’What’s happening? It’s so itchy all of a sudden...’

Ivy Tanner scratched her arm vigorously, discovering a large patch of red welts that itched like crazy.

Seeing this, Granny turned and went back into the house.

Ethan Kingsley growled, "Idiot! I told you that caterpillar stings!"

Ivy Tanner ignored him and turned to go back inside, calling for Granny. "Granny, do you have any medicine? My arm is so itchy!"

Ethan Kingsley followed her inside.

Granny took a tube of ointment from the medicine box and hurriedly applied it for her.

Before long, her arm finally stopped itching.

Ivy Tanner said in pleasant surprise, "It’s not itchy anymore. This ointment is amazing."

Granny made a quick sign and left.

Ivy Tanner tried to follow her out, but Ethan Kingsley grabbed her arm. "Stay put!"

Ivy Tanner had no choice but to turn and face him. "If you’re here to cut out my tongue, then get on with it. Don’t waste your breath."

"Are you trying to die?" Ethan Kingsley’s face darkened, and he felt the urge to strangle her.

Ivy Tanner smiled faintly. "I’ve never felt like I was alive in the first place."

Ethan Kingsley’s hand trembled. A suffocating tightness clenched his chest, and he abruptly let go of her arm. "Whose child is it?" he demanded in a low voice.

Ivy Tanner enunciated each syllable clearly, "I. Don’t. Know."

Ethan Kingsley’s cold eyes narrowed. "I’ll give you one more chance. Is the child mine?"

Ivy Tanner said nothing.

Ethan Kingsley clenched his fists and gritted his teeth. "If you won’t talk, you can stay here for the rest of your life."

With that, he turned and left.

Ivy Tanner bit her lip, walked over to the bed, and sat down. She hung her head, looking like a deflated balloon.

She thought he was really gone, but he returned just as suddenly, tossing one last threat over his shoulder. "After you give birth, I’ll have a paternity test done. And whether that child is mine or not, it will die."

Ivy Tanner’s eyes flew wide. She rushed in front of him. "You can’t do that! The child is innocent! He’s innocent!"

Ethan Kingsley gave her one final chance. "If you don’t want me to do that, then tell me right now. Whose child is it?"

Ivy Tanner bit down on her lip so hard it turned white. After a long moment, she finally spoke. "It’s yours."

"Heh..." Ethan Kingsley laughed, then reached out and viciously yanked her hair. "Little Cutie, you love to lie so much. Do you really think I’d believe you now?"

Ivy Tanner felt as if her scalp was about to be torn from her head. She knew he was punishing her, so she endured the pain without begging for mercy. She only said, "If you push me into depression, I’ll kill myself for you to see. Stop torturing me."
