Kamille listened intently to the words, trying to understand them. His brows almost furrowed, wondering what it meant.

This was the core consciousness, and there was only one who could convey these words and the lingering emotions within. He did not do anything and only listened.

The opportunity he needed seemed to lie within those words or be accompanied by it.

[Why...]

[Tell me...]

[Why am I different?]

[From both of you.]

[What is this feeling? I don’t want this.]

[Ah... I want to be like you. Tell me, how?]

There was a significant pause, and as it returned, the grating voice now became frosty and malicious.

[I’ll take it.]

[So die...!]

Kamille finally furrowed his brows at this time. A kind of repulsion rose from within him, and he almost could not control himself from taking action, even though he also did not know how in that state.

Was this his first time feeling like this? Kamille did not know, but at that moment, every bit of his being was rejecting that voice.

Who was it... who was he?

At that thought, the voice whispering in his ear faded. Kamille pondered so hard that he even almost forgot where he was, only consumed by the massive rage that appeared out of nowhere.

Or perhaps, it was never that abrupt. It was always there, and it piled up through countless lives.

Ah, his hatred for the owner of that voice seeped into his soul, unable to be reconciled.

With these thoughts swirling through his mind, the darkness slowly faded. It started from the ground until it illuminated everything.

Kamille finally felt his presence, and the passage of time flowed once more. An eerie white expanse greeted him. Kamille did not intend to ponder deeply on where he was.

He only wanted to know that at the center of it, at that glowing book... was his goal.

Kamille’s gaze froze for a moment, staring in a daze at that book. He had seen it earlier, but seeing it now, it carried more weight.

His heartbeat suddenly accelerated, and the rage inside him fumed. But at the same time, there was a kind of exhaustion and yet relief that bloomed within him.

His crimson pupils shone from emotions he himself could not describe.

Kamille unknowingly touched his chest, feeling his heartbeat. He looked down at it for a second before he returned his gaze to that book.

This time there was some clarity in his gaze.

He had no memories of it. Nothing of the past or who he truly was. He only knew one thing at that moment. That book... he was searching for it for so long.

It was almost like an obsession. No, it was an obsession. However, no matter what he did, he could not reach it. Much less lay his eyes upon it. And now, it finally showed itself.

Having no memories or impressions did not deter Kamille. He slowly moved and stepped toward it. While his movements were slow, the distance he could cover was not short at all.

Kamille knew it would not be easy.

With the distance he could cover with a few steps, he should have already closed it, and yet there was this impression that he still had a long way to go.

The distance between him and the book seemed to stretch the more he tried to go near it. Kamille’s expression did not change much, he continued walking towards it.

Several minutes had passed, and the situation remained, but Kamille eventually felt some resistance. His movements became stiff and heavy. It was as if something was pulling him away but at the same time also pushing him into it.

Like a tug-of-war, Kamille had become the object of this strange game. He did not mind.

There was only one goal in his mind. His gaze was only in that one direction.

Still, inevitably, he felt that his efficiency was not good. Soon, another element was added in that white expanse, becoming stained by the black fire that attempted to swallow the void.

Heh.

Kamille narrowed his gaze slightly; a playful smile now graced his lips.

It was not obvious at the start, but as time passed, Kamille could feel the temperature getting higher, and his surroundings began to shake.

The white expanse was trembling... No, that existence was afraid.

He did not stop in the slightest. His footsteps were steady amidst the quake. Kamille’s hair danced in the suddenly appearing winds, accompanied by the murmurs in his ears.

[Leave...]

[Now... I don’t want you here.]

Kamille continued without a slight change in his expression. His footsteps even went faster as the voice became increasingly anxious.

The distance also slowly became closer, the pull becoming weaker.

[WHY DON’T YOU LISTEN!]

[LEAVE!]

At some point, a face appeared in front. It hovered above the book, glaring viciously toward Kamille. It was a familiar face.

For the first time in this space, ruthlessness flashed in Kamille’s expression.

"You dare copy his face." He almost growled, his crimson pupils glinting maliciously.

The face was eight points, similar to Rise. It was only that the expressions were not the same; otherwise, they truly looked so alike. Kamille now finally understood something from its words.

"Change it," Kamille coldly ordered. The intensity of the fire around them rose, and so did the temperature.

The face remained as Rise, fiercely glaring at him.

[I’ll kill him]

[And take his place.]

Sure enough. Kamille sneered, his hands trembled with rage. Was this the reason after all? The reason this world will gain self-awareness?

Kamille paused, just a few steps away from the book and that face. That did not mean his fire stopped; it quickly surrounded the surroundings, firmly locking the book.

The trembling of the space intensified, and a painful expression flashed in that face. Kamille frowned slightly, seeing that. It was only for a moment, and killing intent surged through his gaze.

"I’ll wipe out your existence before you do that."

[You can’t!]

Kamille ignored him, and with his gaze he signaled for the fire to swallow the book, but then the face suddenly howled and offered resistance.

[He’ll die...]

Suddenly it seemed to stop being muddled and tried to communicate.

[Kamille, if you wipe out my consciousness... You can’t go back. Both of you will be forever imprisoned in this world. Only I... can let you leave.]

Kamille wanted to ignore its words; he did not trust it. However, something within him seemed to have been triggered by its words, and he paused his actions.

Although he did not trust its words, it was not like what it said was nonsense either.

It did not miss the pause and continued, grasping at straws, and its words became chaotic but not as incomprehensible as earlier.

[You want me to stop. I can do it. I can let you leave this world.]
