Chapter 521: Chapter 521: Entrustment, Gather the Players

Rosa looked at Flora Sullivan, agreeing wholeheartedly with the young girl’s sentiment.

"The little girl is right. Those people thought they were pursuing Power, pursuing eternal life, pursuing godhood.

But they didn’t know that the moment they made their first evil choice, they had already begun to destroy themselves."

Rosa paused, her gaze falling upon Seraphina Sullivan.

"Child, I already learned from Sean Chandler that you Players have a quest to complete.

You must save one hundred Native People, survive in this world for a month, and... cleanse my brother’s remains."

Seraphina Sullivan nodded.

"’Cleansing the remains’ means killing those five Ancestral Witches."

Rosa said, "They ate my brother’s flesh and blood. His Divine Power still remains within their bodies.

Only by killing them can my brother’s remains finally rest in peace, and only then can the Power of Demonization in this world gradually fade."

She stood up shakily, walked over to Seraphina Sullivan, and looked up at the young woman who was a head taller than her.

"Child, I know this is an outrageous request." Her voice was hoarse. "But I still want to beg you—"

"Kill those five beasts."

"Let my brother... truly rest in peace."

Seraphina Sullivan didn’t answer right away.

She looked into Rosa’s expectant eyes, silent for a few seconds before speaking slowly.

"Ma’am, you must understand that with just the few of us, it’s impossible to kill the Ancestral Witches."

Rosa’s body stiffened slightly.

Seraphina Sullivan continued, "Those five devoured the Demon God’s body and obtained Demigod Level Power.

They’ve lived in this world for who knows how many years and know everything about this place like the back of their hands.

And us—we’re just a few Players who have just entered this instance, knowing nothing about this world, nothing about the Ancestral Witches’ Abilities, and not even where they’re hiding."

"If we challenge them like this, how is that any different from suicide?"

Rosa opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but in the end, she could only hang her head in defeat.

"You’re right..." Her voice was hoarse and weary. "I was too hasty. I’ve waited for so many years, and I finally saw Players arrive again, finally saw a glimmer of hope... I..."

She couldn’t go on.

Seraphina Sullivan watched her hunched back. The Demon God’s Pillar in her hand trembled slightly, as if resonating with her inner anguish.

"Ma’am." Seraphina Sullivan’s voice softened. "I didn’t say we wouldn’t kill them."

Rosa’s head snapped up.

Seraphina Sullivan’s gaze was calm and firm. "But what we need isn’t impulsiveness or a suicide mission. We need more Players, better preparation, and more comprehensive intelligence."

"Revenge isn’t something that can be accomplished in a day.

We also need to understand the Ancestral Witches’ situation: how many there are, what Abilities they have, where they’re hiding, and what their Weaknesses are.

Only after we’ve figured all this out can we formulate a viable plan."

Rosa stared at her blankly, a glimmer of hope gradually appearing in her cloudy eyes.

"You mean..."

"Gather more Players," Seraphina Sullivan said, her words deliberate and clear. "There are tens of millions of Players in this instance.

They come from different worlds, with different Abilities and different combat experiences.

If we can unite them to deal with the Ancestral Witches together—"

She paused, her tone resolute. "Then it won’t be a suicide mission. It’ll be a hunt."

Rosa’s lips trembled slightly.

She gripped the Demon God’s Pillar so tightly her knuckles turned white.

"You’re right... You’re completely right..."

She murmured as two streams of murky tears slid down her wrinkled cheeks, "I was too hasty. I just wanted my brother to rest in peace so badly... I’ve waited for so, so long..."

Seraphina Sullivan said nothing, just waited quietly for her to compose herself.

After a long moment, Rosa took a deep breath, wiped her tears with her sleeve, and looked up again.

In those eyes, besides sorrow, there was now a newfound determination.

"Child, thank you," she said. "You’re right, we can’t be hasty. I’ve waited all these years; a little longer won’t make a difference."

Leaning on the Demon God’s Pillar, she slowly walked back to her chair and sat down, her gaze shifting to the busy Native People outside.

"So what do you plan to do now?"

Seraphina Sullivan also looked outside.

The Native People—the elderly, women, children, and a few able-bodied young men—were all busy with their own tasks in the settlement.

Some were mending damaged wooden huts, some were drying animal hides, and others were tilling the soil and planting seeds in a small, cleared patch of land.

Their faces showed fatigue and numbness, but also a tenacious will to survive.

"Now, let’s discuss the matter of saving the Native People," Seraphina Sullivan said.

Rosa looked at her.

"This quest—" Seraphina Sullivan paused. "Perhaps this is the Demon God’s wish. To save all of you who are in peril."

Rosa’s eyes reddened again.

Seraphina Sullivan continued, "Next, we will gather our strength here and help you through this difficult time.

We need a safe base, we need to learn more about this world, and we need to wait for more Players to gather."

"Then, when the time is right," her gaze sharpened, "we will go and vanquish the Ancestral Witches."

Rosa slowly stood up and walked over to Seraphina Sullivan.

She reached out with her age-spotted hands and gently took Seraphina Sullivan’s.

"Thank you."

Her voice was hoarse, but it carried a heartfelt sincerity.

"Thank you, child."

Seraphina Sullivan felt the coarse hands trembling slightly.

She lowered her head, looking at the old woman in the twilight of her years, at the tears shimmering in her cloudy eyes, and a complex emotion suddenly welled up inside her.

’This old woman is the Demon God’s sister.’

’She watched her own brother transform from a mortal into a Divine being, watched him protect this world with his Divine Power, and then watched as he was murdered and devoured by traitors.’

’How many years has she lived? How much suffering has she endured?’

’And through all these long years, how many days and nights has she waited, clutching the scepter her brother left behind?’

Seraphina Sullivan didn’t ask.

But she knew she would definitely fulfill this old woman’s request.

’It’s not just for the quest, not just for the reward.’

’It’s also for this long wait that has spanned countless years.’

Of course.

Seraphina Sullivan had another thought.

Her gaze swept imperceptibly over the scepter in Rosa’s hand.

’The Demon God’s Pillar.’

’A Divine Artifact forged from the Demon God’s own spine.’

’It can communicate with the Demon God’s residual consciousness, sense the degree of Demonization, and guide the Power of Demon God.’

’If I could use something like this during the campaign against the Ancestral Witches...’

Seraphina Sullivan lowered her eyes, saying nothing more.

’Asking for the Demon God’s Pillar now, before I’ve done anything, would definitely cause resentment.’

’After I’ve helped these Native People get back on their feet, after I’ve gathered enough Players, and when the campaign against the Ancestral Witches truly begins...’

’That will be the perfect time to bring it up.’
