Limited Time Marriage: Nice to Meet You Mr. Foster
Chapter 606 - 605: Rejection
Chapter 606: Chapter 605: Rejection
Is the Old Master Lynch he knows the same Lynch Family?
"Grandpa only found out I was a girl last night, and today he’s arranged an engagement for me. Who’s it with?"
"He didn’t just find out yesterday; he’s always known. Nothing escapes his eyes." Nathan Foster said, then glanced at South Grant and continued, "The person you’re engaged to is Chester Lynch."
South Grant was taken aback when he heard the name Chester Lynch; it seemed to be the Old Master Lynch he was thinking of.
No wonder Nathan Foster seemed displeased when he saw Chester Lynch at the café earlier.
It would be strange if he didn’t find him displeasing under such circumstances.
"How do you know? Did Grandpa tell you?" South Grant asked Nathan Foster, but then thought through it again and didn’t continue: "Wait, wasn’t it said earlier that Grandpa arranged an engagement for you? Why is it suddenly about me?"
Harold Foster had arranged an engagement for Nathan Foster, which South Grant knew about because Nathan hadn’t hidden it from her and had told her from the start, so South Grant wasn’t surprised when Chester Lynch mentioned it.
This matter wasn’t resolved yet, so how did it fall on me?
"I refused that engagement." Nathan Foster said to South Grant.
South Grant was momentarily stunned when she heard Nathan say he refused. Before, Nathan had said it was a tricky situation; how did it get resolved in just two days after returning?
Nathan Foster looked at South Grant, puzzled. He then put his hand on her shoulder and spoke to her.
"Do you remember what I told you about the Four Families, the four treasure maps, and the treasure?"
South Grant nodded, listening as Nathan continued, "The Holt, Foster, Lynch, and Lockwood families are all in Aethelgard now. The Holt Family’s treasure map is with my mother. Back then, your grandpa married my mother just for that map. Later, after I was born, my mother feigned madness, avoiding the matter ever since. Now your grandpa and my mother have reached some kind of agreement, using my marriage as a bargaining chip to obtain another treasure map."
South Grant began to understand; apparently, Susan Fisher had been feigning madness all these years.
All driven by the interests tied to that treasure map.
"Is it the Lynch Family? The Lynch Family doesn’t have anyone your age. Wendy Lynch is still a minor this year, so it can’t be her, right? That would be too shameless."
South Grant couldn’t honestly understand; how much wealth does it take to satisfy one’s greed?
Someone would protect a treasure for generations, leading their descendants into madness.
Thinking about what Nathan had said, South Grant thought of her mother and how Harold Foster had used her back then.
"It’s not the Lynch Family."
Listening to Nathan say it wasn’t the Lynch Family, South Grant thought for a moment, then whispered, "If it’s not the Lynch Family, could it be the Lockwood Family? Lockwood... Vivian Lockwood?"
"Yes." Nathan Foster nodded.
"..."
At this point, South Grant couldn’t help but sigh; a woman’s intuition is innate. The first time she met Vivian Lockwood, she had a strange feeling.
She always felt Vivian was after Nathan Foster, and now it turned out she was right about this matter.
"So you refused this engagement, do you think Grandpa will let it go?" South Grant knew Harold Foster’s obsession with the treasure wouldn’t let him give up.
"Yesterday when I came back, I met Vivian Lockwood and directly told her my stance on this engagement. From what I know of Vivian, she’s proud. I personally told her I was against this marriage, and after she returned, she’d definitely tell Old Chief Lockwood. Having her refuse it is better than if I said it myself."
