(Author’s POV)

"HAHH??" Brian’s mouth fell open, and his eyes widened in stunned silence.

Catherine, already out of patience, turned and stomped ahead, leaving him behind.

Brian’s gaze darted between her and Myra, but when he saw Catherine was about to leave, he hurried after her. Then he began speaking, his words coherent at first: "Elder Richards~ ... that girl with Dion Everests’~ .... she~ ..."

Catherine shot him a glare but kept walking steadily. "What is it now?"

"She was with the youngest Everests just now~ .... they were kissing~ ..." he said, sounding a little bewildered.

Catherine sighed in frustration. "Brian Tape, have you gone completely senile? Now you’re interested in the useless love drama of those Lycans? How useless can you be?"

"No~ ... no~ .... i~it’s not that. What I wanted to say is~ ... that girl~ ... her face looks familiar. I think~ ... I have seen her somewhere~ ...." Brian said, still trying to place her.

She scowled and kept moving. "Didn’t you meet her a couple of weeks ago? What are you on about?"

Brian recalled the incident and answered, "At that time, I didn’t go in person. I sent one of my men to get her. She never came. So, I never got to see her face." He paused, then added, rubbing his temples, "But I am sure I have seen her face before. Just don’t remember where." He bit his lower lip in frustration.

At the end of her patience, Catherine reached her parked car with him and barked, "Until you remember, keep your mouth zipped and don’t mention any of them to me~ .... got it." She settled into the back seat. "Once I am done, contact Chris. I got to talk with him."

Brian pressed his lips together and, without another word, took the driver’s seat. The engine started, and they sped off.

Back there, Myra came to her senses and quickly pulled away. "It’s okay, Elio. I am totally fine."

Elio’s hands hung in midair. She mistook her shyness for discomfort, and a long shadow crossed his face. But he quickly recovered and said, "I have a salve with me. I will bring that to you."

Myra didn’t say no or yes.

Dion then opened the door and gestured for her to get in the passenger seat. She settled quietly.

The car pulled away as the three brothers, left behind, kept their gaze fixed on the receding vehicle. They sighed collectively and started to walk inside the mansion.

Just when they were about to step inside, Chris’s voice stopped them: "Young Alphas of the Moon Shine Pack."

Their steps halted at once as they looked at him, expressionless. "Secretary Shadow, didn’t you leave with the vampire king?"

"I am staying," he said in a serious tone, though there was something slightly off about his tone. "Master told me to keep an eye on the business operation and also to look after the people who were closest to the young master in his absence."

Brave’s face hardened at his remark. He and the other two knew exactly who this was all about.

He then continued, "The young master was quite close with Ms. Miracle, her family and Ms. Yates. So, they need extra care."

Alaric glared at him, spouting, "Your concerns won’t be necessary, Chris Shadow. Yelena Yates has already returned to her hometown. As for the Miracles, they aren’t going to stay in Esteria."

Chris’s brows knitted at his statement. "What do you mean, they won’t stay here?"

Alaric opened his mouth, but before he could answer, Gunnar came hurriedly. "Secretary Shadow, Healer Hector wants to speak to you urgently."

Chris looked at Gunnar, then at Alaric, then finally settled his gaze on the phone in Gunnar’s hand and took it.

"Healer Hector," he muttered her name, a bit irritated.

"Secretary Shadow, where are you?" she asked, her voice hectic, hurried.

"At the Larson mansion," he answered.

"Is there anyone beside or near you? I have something important to tell you," Iris said in a hushed tone. "Can you go to a secluded place?"

Chris looked at the Everests with a side eye, then walked inside the mansion, his footsteps urgent.

"Bro Al, what were you about to say? Didn’t Myra already decline going with us?" Elio said.

Alaric closed his eyes and took two deep, long breaths. Then answered, "I don’t like his cockiness. As for the Miracles, yes, she declined to return with us to Kimberg. But we can arrange another place for them: a place that is both safe and within our reach when necessary."

Brave immediately understood his twin’s words and agreed, "Al is right. If she doesn’t want to go to Kimberg, we can just find a different spot for her and her family."

"And what if she refuses even that?" Elio inquired, pressing.

"She won’t," Alaric answered with absolute surety. "She is ambitious. Everests’ Cooperations has endless branches and subsidiaries. An internship call from any of them will bring her on board."

Elio hummed, finally understanding Alaric’s words. With Myra’s refusal, this was their best shot to keep her and her family safe and out of reach of those vicious bloodsuckers.

"This will also keep her occupied. She is already stressed and sad because of Fabian," Brave added.

They all came to an agreement and walked inside to pack their luggage. The private jet was already arranged for this evening. They wanted to make arrangements for the Miracles before that.

"Myra~ ...." Dion called her name, soft and gentle.

Myra hummed.

"Will you~ .... will you really not consider coming with us?" he said, hesitant, hopeful.

She bit the corner of her lips and uttered, "Dion, I have already told you why I can’t go with you."

"But~ .... this place is dangerous," he said before he could stop himself.

"Dangerous?" Myra looked at him with genuine confusion.

"Uhh~ ... I mean. Last night, with Elisa and her team of followers. She might have died, but that lover of hers is still on the loose. Also, Elisa posed as one of Chairman Larson’s assistants, and that lover, Damon, pretended to be a student at Red Stone. We don’t know who was involved with them. That’s why I said it is dangerous for you to stay here," Dion laid it out.

"You think someone from Mr. Larson’s side is involved with that demon pair?" Myra questioned.

"Though it’s not confirmed, it’s still a possibility," Dion replied.

Myra didn’t say anything after that. She just leaned against the seat.

"I’m not going to force you into something you don’t want to do. But think about what I just said. I~ ... we all want you and your family to be safe and away from any mishap," Dion voiced.
