Chapter 186: Chapter 186: Zachery Isn’t Holding Back: Your Show of Force Is Lame

As soon as Thea York finished speaking, "Christian" clutched his chest and began to dry heave. Mia immediately rushed forward with exaggerated concern. "Aunt York, what did you do to Christian?"

Thea bit her lip lightly. "I didn’t..."

She also wanted to ask the little bastard the same thing! Why was he dry heaving when she was just talking to him?!

"Mia, don’t blame Aunt York. It’s because of my poor health," Zachery said, tugging on Mia’s sleeve. He continued, his tone laced with heavy sarcasm, "I’m sorry, Aunt York. This is just how I am. Because of my poor health, I can’t go anywhere. I’m very happy that you’re taking me to the York family’s home, but with my sickly body, what if you end up despising me?"

Mia swallowed hard. She wondered how his fighting spirit had become so strong just by swapping identities.

She silently took two steps back while "Christian" pressed his advantage. "Usually, Daddy hires a lot of people to take care of me. At the Kendrick Family’s home, Grandma also does everything herself. Aunt York, if I go to the York family’s home, can you and your parents take care of me?"

Thea gave a gentle, elegant smile. "Of course. You are my godson and a guest of our entire family. We will handle everything personally."

"That’s good." Zachery smiled in satisfaction and shot Mia a meaningful look. "Then I’ll go with you."

Catching his hint, Mia deliberately chimed in, "Christian, maybe we should forget it. You’re too innocent to understand the ways of the world. You might not know this, but some people nowadays actually enjoy hurting children on purpose. What if something bad happens to you at the York family’s home?

"Besides, I heard that Aunt York’s mother absolutely hates children born in wedlock! You are a proper legitimate child, Christian. What if she dislikes you and bullies you? No, no, I don’t agree to this!"

"Christian" put on the guise of a comforting older brother. "Mia, it’s fine. I believe Aunt York wouldn’t dare harm me in broad daylight. If anything were to happen to me at the York family’s home, Daddy would definitely level their entire estate to the ground."

Before Thea could reply, Zachery added, "Furthermore, regarding all that talk about illegitimate and legitimate children... Even though Mrs. York is a mistress who manipulated her way to the top, and even though Aunt York is an illegitimate daughter, I still believe that people are inherently kind. Isn’t that right, Aunt York?"

Thea clenched her fists, silently cursing Christian Sloan eight hundred times over in her heart. She had already explained that it was Stella York and her mother who refused to step aside! Otherwise, how could she possibly be an illegitimate daughter?

Dizzy with anger, Thea could barely maintain her composure, yet she forced out a stiff smile. "Of course... Christian is our guest. How could anything happen to him?"

Only then did Mia appear relieved. "Alright, alright. Then you can go, Christian."

Laura Jennings and Thea immediately left with "Christian."

Half an hour later, the car arrived at the York family villa.

Mrs. York had received the news well in advance and was waiting in the living room, ready to put Christian Sloan in his place.

Two minutes later, Thea walked in with Zachery. As soon as Mrs. York saw "Christian," she let out a cold scoff. "Just as expected of a child with a mother who didn’t raise him. You have absolutely no manners. You don’t even know how to greet me when you see me!"

Thea closed the front door and smiled faintly. She had promised not to let anything happen to Christian Sloan, but so what? If he couldn’t handle the pressure and ended up committing suicide, it would only be his own fragile mental state to blame. If anyone brought up the fact that her mother had scolded him, they could just claim this was simply how the York family educated children. They could say her mother just couldn’t stand his behavior at the time and scolded him a bit, never expecting him to die from it. Who could possibly be blamed for that?

After her tirade, Mrs. York scrutinized him from her high horse, eagerly waiting for Christian Sloan to burst into tears. However, the entire living room fell into a dead silence.

When Mrs. York’s words went unanswered for a long time, it made her look exceptionally foolish. Flustered and exasperated, she slammed her hand against the table with a loud THUD. "Christian Sloan, I am talking to you! Did you hear me?!"

"Christian," however, looked completely baffled. "Huh? Were you talking to me just now?"

Mrs. York was absolutely furious. This little bastard really was ill-bred! She was going to teach him a good lesson on his parents’ behalf. "Of course I was talking to you! Is there anyone else here?!"

Zachery gasped in shock. He immediately looked at Thea, then back at Mrs. York, his implication crystal clear—wasn’t there another person standing right here?

Scratching his head, he looked incredibly apologetic and sheepish as he sincerely admitted his mistake. "I’m so sorry. The moment I walked in, before I could even say a word, you started cursing.

"Aunt York said that I was a guest. I figured Mrs. York couldn’t possibly start hurling abuse the second she saw a guest, so those words couldn’t possibly be directed at me. After all, who would randomly attack a stranger who is visiting their home?

"I actually thought you were talking about Aunt York. You are her mother, so if you want to teach your own child a lesson, you surely have your reasons. That’s why I kept quiet.

"I didn’t expect you to be talking about me! I am truly sorry. I didn’t know you were calling me ill-bred. Next time, could you please mention me by name? Otherwise, I really won’t know how to react."

Zachery let out a long sigh. "I’m sorry, I admit my mistake. How about this? I’ll call Daddy right now and repeat Mrs. York’s words to him so he can teach me a proper lesson."

Trying to show him who was boss clearly wasn’t working out.

Mrs. York and Thea both choked on their own breath. Zachery pulled out his custom-made phone and prepared to make the call. Mrs. York nearly suffocated from anxiety and reflexively shrieked, "Don’t you dare—"

"Christian, you misunderstood." Thea shot Mrs. York a warning look. They absolutely could not let Christian Sloan call Nathaniel Sloan right now; otherwise, how would their plan proceed? Thus, Thea forced a helpless smile and said, "My mom just has this kind of personality. She probably didn’t realize you were Christian and thought you were some other disobedient child. She wasn’t targeting you on purpose."

Zachery rolled his eyes thoughtfully. "Oh, so she wasn’t targeting me. Does that mean Mrs. York still considers me a guest?"

Mrs. York and Thea exchanged a glance, both clenching their fists. "Of course."

After all, Nathaniel and so many people from the Kendrick Family were watching. If anything happened to Christian Sloan, she couldn’t afford to take the blame. Therefore, they could only rely on making Christian Sloan despise himself. That psychological expert had said that for the psychological manipulation to succeed, they first had to make Christian Sloan trust them.

Mrs. York nearly ground her teeth to dust as she forced a rigid smile. "Christian, Thea is your godmother, making you the young master of our York family. When you visit us, just treat this place as your own home."

That was exactly the sentence Zachery had been waiting for. He blinked innocently. "I can do whatever I want?"

Mrs. York gritted her teeth with great difficulty. "Of course you can."

Zachery nodded, then turned to Thea. "I’m thirsty. Go make me some snow pear soup. Make it sweet, and it better be chilled. Hurry up."

Recalling how spoiled brats usually acted, he mimicked them to perfection. "I don’t care! I don’t care! I want to drink it! You said you wanted me as a guest at the York family’s home, but you don’t actually care about me at all! I’m going to tell Daddy!"

The veins on Thea’s forehead bulged.

Zachery chuckled inwardly, wondering if they were already getting mad.
