Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure
Chapter 1113 - 1122: Staying by Her Side
"Why didn’t you text me back! Why didn’t you answer my calls?"
A whole day without contacting him scared her to death.
"Don’t you know I’m afraid?"
Ethan Grant looked at the tearful Serena Sullivan, feeling both heartbroken and amused as he responded, "I was too busy during the day to find time to text you back."
He was genuinely busy, so much so that he only had a few bites on the plane, and now he was still a bit hungry.
"I also wanted to surprise you."
"This isn’t a surprise, it’s a scare!"
Serena retorted angrily and turned to head back into the house.
Ethan hurried to catch up with her; his surprise really frightened Serena.
"Serena."
He called out, but Serena, with her back to him, ignored him.
"I hurried to finish everything so I could see you sooner."
"After getting off the plane, all I could think about was seeing you, and I forgot to turn my phone back on."
While speaking, Ethan took out his phone to show Serena.
Indeed, the phone was off.
"With you not texting me back or answering my calls, my imagination ran wild." Serena softly sobbed, but seeing Ethan helped her calm down.
"Serena, I’m sorry!"
Upon hearing his apology, Serena turned around and threw herself back into his arms.
"Ethan, I don’t want your apology, I just want you to be safe and sound."
"Hmm!"
Ethan smiled as he looked down at Serena, crying like a little wildcat under the light, and chuckled, "Look at you, crying like this."
"Don’t cry anymore, I’ll text you back."
Saying this, Ethan powered on his phone and sent Serena a text.
Serena’s phone on the bed rang, she picked it up, opened the message, and seeing Ethan’s reply, she pressed her lips together, smiling contentedly.
"Honey, I miss you too!"
Early the next morning, Simon Sterling and Claire Sullivan rushed over.
After receiving Serena’s tearful call, they slept uneasily the rest of the night. Even after Serena called back to say it was all fine, they were still worried.
Claire Sullivan had raised Serena; she knew her daughter’s temperament better than anyone.
Serena had a stubborn streak; she didn’t shed a tear when Joel Quinn and his daughter wrongly accused her.
Now, in the dead of night, she cried so heartbreakingly over Ethan turning off his phone, how could they not worry?
Simon felt the same.
Contrary to their concerns, when they arrived at Serena’s room, she was lying on a lounge chair reading a book, with Ethan beside her working on a computer.
The atmosphere was very harmonious, without a hint of last night’s distress.
"Dad, Mom."
Seeing Simon and Claire at the doorway, Serena called out in surprise.
She was about to get up, but Claire gently held her hand, "Stay lying down."
"Why are you here?"
Serena asked, puzzled.
Last night, Simon had taken Claire to The Sterling Residence to rest.
Claire enjoyed sleeping in for health reasons, and with her pregnancy, she was particularly sleepy these days.
"You cried so heartbreakingly last night, your dad and I were worried."
Claire sat beside Serena, speaking with concern.
This made Serena feel embarrassed, she had cried out of sudden anxiety the night before.
"I explained it on the call; Ethan’s phone was off because he was on a plane."
"I’m fine now."
Serena emphasized.
Her cheerful smile showed she was indeed alright.
Claire and Simon were still uneasy, Simon said to Ethan, who had stood up to greet them, "Let’s talk outside."
