Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure

Chapter 1114 - 1123: One Is Enough

Ethan Grant glanced at Serena Sullivan, smiling at him, and followed Simon Sterling outside.

Ethan wasn’t sure what Simon wanted to discuss, but it was surely related to Serena.

"Serena was very upset yesterday and cried a lot," Simon said directly. "She rarely cries like that."

"I know," Ethan said apologetically. "I was busy rushing over to see her and forgot to reply to her messages."

"Her condition has been a bit off lately."

Simon continued.

"Yes, I’ll spend more time with her."

During the early stages of pregnancy, Serena rested in bed, and he hadn’t seen her so troubled.

"Ethan," Simon spoke softly, his tone prompting Ethan to look back seriously, "Dad, if you have something to say, just say it."

"If there’s anything I’m doing wrong, please tell me."

The father and son-in-law rarely engaged in such earnest conversations.

Simon scrutinized Ethan from a father-in-law’s perspective, finding no faults in Ethan?

If there were, he wouldn’t have truly let Serena marry him.

Not liking him stemmed from Ethan’s past offenses against Serena, causing her to become disabled and spend so long in a wheelchair.

The pain of the past often resurfaced, making Simon blame Ethan, but also blame himself.

"You haven’t done anything wrong."

Simon spoke softly, looking at Ethan, "I want to ask you a favor."

"Dad, just say it."

It was rare to hear Simon speaking to him so seriously, even using the word "ask."

"If Serena gives birth to a daughter this time, don’t let her try for another child."

"Her health isn’t very good."

The successful surgery pulled Serena back from the brink of death, but the car accident took away half her life.

There’s no telling what her condition will be a few years down the line!

Ethan had thought about this issue long ago; even without Simon mentioning it, he wasn’t planning on having more children.

"Just having Serena and me is enough."

Serena was determined to have this child, and Ethan had strongly opposed it, yet he couldn’t persuade her.

"She fears you won’t have a child, fears you would become a sinner of The Grant Family."

"What sin or sinner!" Ethan laughed. "The Grant Family is the sinner."

If it weren’t for The Grant Family tearing them apart, if he hadn’t missed that call, how would Serena have suffered so much?

"Dad, what you’re saying, I’m aware of."

"Don’t worry, this child will be our last, whether boy or girl."

Ethan promised.

"If she wants to conceive again, I won’t allow it."

Ethan stated firmly.

"Yes!" Simon nodded, "The Grant Corporation needs someone to take over. What I’m doing is a bit selfish, but I don’t want the old to send off the young, I hope you can understand."

"That won’t happen, Serena will accompany me into old age."

Ethan disliked hearing anything about Serena’s poor health.

Simon expressed his disagreement as well.

"Yes, yes!"

Simon agreed, lifting his hand to pat Ethan on the shoulder, "I’m assured leaving Serena in your care."

Though Ethan hadn’t done well in the past, Simon believes he’ll do well in the future!

And so, Ethan stayed in the old mansion in Imperial Capital again, handling matters of The Grant Corporation during the day, conducting video meetings, and spending evenings like in Solaria, chatting with Serena and the child.

They together anticipated the arrival of this child.

The child, their continuation—as Serena thought, so did Ethan.

But truly, just one would be enough.

Whether boy or girl.
