Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure
Chapter 1205: Stirring Up Trouble Won't Work
“That girl from the Caldwell Family, right!”
The Old Master knows exactly who he’s talking about, and so does the Old Mrs. Lockwood.
Sure enough, following their gaze, Miss Caldwell is holding a wine glass, heading towards Carter Lockwood.
Just as he does with others, Carter Lockwood maintains a stern face, engaging Miss Caldwell in conversation because of their cooperation with Caldwell Group.
Miss Caldwell is accustomed to Carter Lockwood’s cold demeanor, yet her smile remains poised.
“Forget it.”
Old Mrs. Lockwood shakes her head, “This girl from the Caldwell Family has pursued Carter for so long, yet he hasn’t been moved one bit. Trying to pair them up, hmph!”
“Anna is better.”
Old Mrs. Lockwood has always liked Anna Morgan when she’s with Sean Lockwood.
Though she can’t be a granddaughter-in-law, being a daughter-in-law is even better.
The banquet concludes, and Anna Morgan, along with Mrs. Monroe and Eldest Master Monroe, bids farewell to the Lockwood Family.
Unlike with others, Old Mrs. Lockwood looks at Anna Morgan with a cheerful smile, examining her thoroughly, and the more she sees, the more satisfied she becomes.
“Anna, come visit the Lockwood Family more often.”
“Sure, Auntie.”
Anna Morgan replies instantly.
“Old Mrs. Lockwood.” Mrs. Monroe looks at Old Mrs. Lockwood’s attitude towards Anna with confusion, recalling what Miles Morgan said to her at the banquet, she feels even more uneasy.
“It’s dark and cold outside, no need to see us off, our car is right at the door.”
“Hmm.” Old Mrs. Lockwood nods, “Alright.”
She turns to look at Carter Lockwood standing nearby, gently tapping her cane, “Quick, see Anna and Mrs. Monroe off.”
“No need, no need.”
Mrs. Monroe wouldn’t dare have Carter Lockwood see them off.
He’s the one in charge of the Lockwood Family, and his style intimidates Mrs. Monroe somewhat.
It’s better to decline first and save herself some grace.
“Auntie, this way please.”
Carter Lockwood follows Old Mrs. Lockwood’s instructions, walking over to Anna Morgan, guiding Mrs. Monroe and Eldest Master Monroe towards the Lockwood Family’s entrance.
He shows no sign of annoyance, and his term “Auntie” clearly indicates he’s trying to please Mrs. Monroe.
Old Mrs. Lockwood sees Carter Lockwood taking initiative, smiling with pursed lips.
It looks like this daughter-in-law is inescapable.
“Grandma.”
As Old Mrs. Lockwood turns back, Sean Lockwood and Zoe Quinn are standing behind her.
They intentionally delayed leaving, hoping to stay at The Sterling Residence.
After waiting and waiting, since the Old Master Lockwood didn’t say anything and went to rest, they had to seek out Old Mrs. Lockwood.
“Did Mrs. Monroe and Eldest Miss Monroe leave?”
Zoe Quinn asks with a smile, standing beside Old Mrs. Lockwood, appearing gentle and submissive.
Unfortunately, her level is too low, confronted with the astute Old Mrs. Lockwood, who already sees through her intentions.
“Yes.”
Old Mrs. Lockwood replies.
“Miss Monroe and Uncle’s relationship seems quite good.”
Zoe Quinn indirectly remarks, hoping Sean Lockwood would warn Anna Morgan, and when Sean returned absent-minded, she asked him questions but got no response.
This strange behavior forces Zoe Quinn to suspect that Anna Morgan is truly interested in Carter Lockwood.
If Anna Morgan ends up with Carter Lockwood, she’d be Sean Lockwood’s senior, and Zoe’s too.
For a lifetime, Zoe would be overshadowed by Anna Morgan.
“However, Miss Monroe used to like Sean so much…”
Zoe Quinn intentionally brings up Anna Morgan and Sean Lockwood’s past, trying to remind Old Mrs. Lockwood that Anna Morgan was once Sean’s fiancée.
The relationship between a nephew and his uncle’s former fiancée would surely provoke gossip.
“You yourself said ‘used to’.” Old Mrs. Lockwood rudely interrupts Zoe Quinn’s words.
Zoe Quinn, rebutted, doesn’t know what to say, feeling aggrieved, her eyes habitually redden—but alas, she’s dealing with Old Mrs. Lockwood.
