My Child and I Married a Billionaire
Chapter 479: I Can't Be Without You
The doctor finished speaking and was about to leave, but Faye Fisher, though weak, insisted.
“There’s no need to discuss it with anyone. It’s my body, and I’ll make my own decisions. I said I don’t want it, and that’s final. Don’t worry, I won’t come back and cause trouble for you. Just hurry up and examine me. I’m really dying from the pain.”
The doctor was at a loss and looked back at Wyatt Wynn.
Wyatt Wynn knew Faye Fisher had been drinking a lot recently. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to take responsibility for and accept this child, but under the current circumstances, they really couldn’t keep it.
His heart ached again and again. He turned his head aside.
“Listen to her. Go ahead and make the arrangements.”
After all the fuss, Faye Fisher was finally taken into an examination room.
It wasn’t a perforated stomach or gastric bleeding, but the situation was just as bad.
Faye Fisher was admitted. After taking some medicine, she was put on an IV drip in the infusion room.
It was already midnight. After taking the medicine and being hooked up to the IV, she finally felt a little better and fell asleep, her face pale.
Wyatt Wynn watched over her by the bedside. Suddenly, Faye’s phone rang. The word “Mom” flashed on the screen.
She hadn’t come home so late; her parents were bound to be worried. Wyatt Wynn had no choice but to answer for her.
“Hello, I’m a friend of Faye’s. We had a class reunion tonight, and she had a bit to drink. She’s a little drunk and has already gone to sleep with two of her female friends. The moment she wakes up tomorrow morning, I’ll have her call you right back, okay?”
In the eyes of her elders, Faye Fisher had always had the image of a good, obedient girl. Hearing that she had been drinking and was planning to stay out all night, Mrs. Fisher was quite displeased.
“Who is she staying with? Where? Faye never stays out overnight. That’s too dangerous. Send me the address, and I’ll have our driver go pick her up.”
Wyatt Wynn sent her the hospital’s location.
“An old classmate of hers is a doctor, and she didn’t have time to go out tonight, so we just hung out in her office for a bit. Faye is lying on a patient bed right now. Don’t worry, we didn’t go to any shady places, and it’s absolutely not dangerous. She’s already fast asleep, so let’s not disturb her.”
When Mrs. Fisher saw the location was a hospital and that the classmate was a doctor, she was relieved.
“Alright, then. Just have her come back first thing tomorrow morning.”
The medicine made Faye Fisher sleep soundly. Wyatt Wynn dozed at her bedside all night. The next morning, Faye woke up a little after six.
The slightest movement startled Wyatt Wynn awake.
“Faye! You’re awake? How are you feeling? Any better? Should I get the doctor?”
He hadn’t slept well all night. Resting in that awkward position for so long had made his legs and arms go numb, and he’d even had nightmares in his groggy state.
Faye Fisher saw the exhaustion on his face. His worry for her didn’t seem feigned, and she couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.
‘She both loved and hated this man. It was like he had cast a spell on her for life.’
“I’m fine. It doesn’t hurt anymore.”
Wyatt Wynn insisted on calling a doctor over. After an examination, they confirmed she was fine and just needed to continue taking her medicine for a few more days at home.
Wyatt Wynn told her about her mother calling last night. After getting the prescription filled, he wanted to take Faye Fisher home, but she refused. She said she was going to the gynecology department; she didn’t want to delay dealing with the baby for another second.
Wyatt Wynn couldn’t quite describe how he felt about this child, whose sudden arrival had left them completely unprepared.
In the past, he and Faye Fisher had fantasized about having a child together—what the child would look like, whether it would be a boy or a girl, how they would raise it.
He never imagined that when she finally did get pregnant, it would be under circumstances like these.
They couldn’t keep it, and that was that. Wyatt Wynn didn’t want to say anything overly sentimental; he just felt incredibly sorry for Faye Fisher.
“Your stomach pain just got better. Having a procedure so soon would be terrible for your body. Why don’t we wait a few more days? I’ll stay in Coalmont for now. I won’t leave. Once you’ve recovered a bit, I’ll come back with you.”
No.
Faye Fisher knew she had cheated on her husband and was now pregnant with another man’s child. Her conscience was eating her alive, and she truly didn’t want to let this drag on for a second longer.
Wyatt Wynn couldn’t win the argument, so he could only accompany her to the gynecology department.
After an examination and some questions, they determined the fetus was only about 30 days old.
“The embryo is too small for a painless abortion procedure. If you’re absolutely set on not keeping it, your only option is medication. The pill is less damaging to the body initially, but it comes with certain risks. If it doesn’t completely clear out the uterus, you’ll need a D&C, and that’s much harder on the body.”
‘A D&C? What’s a D&C?’
The doctor briefly explained it to them. Just hearing the description made it sound incredibly painful.
Wyatt Wynn refused and pulled Faye Fisher out of the office.
In the hallway, Faye Fisher stopped and lashed out at Wyatt Wynn.
“You can’t possibly understand how I feel, and I’m not asking you to, but this is my body! Don’t I get to make my own decisions? Let go of me! If it’s medication, then it’s medication! If there are risks, then there are risks! I’m willing to bear them myself. It has nothing to do with you! I’m not clinging to you and demanding you take responsibility, so why are you acting like you’re carrying the weight of the world?”
The more she said, the more pained Wyatt Wynn felt.
Ever since Faye Fisher had reappeared in his life, he had been filled with pent-up frustration. He hadn’t had a single day of peace.
‘And this is how she sees me?’
Wyatt Wynn’s anger flared.
“If I had known you hadn’t forgotten me, if I had known you still had feelings for me, then dammit, I would have never let you marry Brandon Jacobs! I stayed away from you out of respect for your relationship, but that doesn’t mean I stopped loving you or that I was playing with your feelings! Faye Fisher, we’ve known each other for so many years. Don’t you know what kind of person I am?”
“Dammit, you know better than anyone that we broke up in a fit of anger! In all the years since we broke up, I’ve thrown myself into a life of meaningless pleasure, trying my hardest not to think about you. But every time someone tried to set me up, or whenever I tried to get to know another woman, I couldn’t help but compare her to you! I couldn’t fall for any of them! Dammit, don’t you get it? I can’t love anyone but you!”
“I thought you hated my guts, that you never wanted to see me again, so I held back and never came looking for you. I thought you would find a new man, have a real relationship, a good marriage. But instead, you married Brandon Jacobs and showed up in front of me in that lifeless relationship of yours. Do you think I’m happy watching you live like you’re half-dead? I’ll tell you the truth—that night in Seacliff when he left you all alone, I wanted to beat the hell out of Brandon Jacobs!”
“I was a coward before. You said to act like nothing happened, and I didn’t want to ruin my friendship with him, so I… But I’ve realized recently—I can’t. I just can’t, Faye Fisher!”
“You’re mine. I love you. My mind is out of control, thinking about you every day. I can’t stand you spending the rest of your life by Brandon Jacobs’s side like this. I can’t stand seeing you but never being able to touch you, or having to touch you in secret, like we’re some damn adulterers! I’m going to confess to him. I’m going to make you divorce him, and I’m going to make you come with me!”
“This child is not some bastard, not some product of an affair! It’s our baby, our first baby! Even if it can’t be born, it still deserves respect. I won’t let you talk about it like that!”
“Come back with me. Back to Veridia, right now. If Brandon Jacobs wants to hit me or curse me out, let him. All I care about right now is you being okay! All I want is for you to come back to my side!”
Since their breakup, Faye Fisher had fantasized countless times about Wyatt Wynn coming to her, apologizing, asking to get back together, and whispering passionate words of love to her.
She had thought about it so much she’d become depressed, hopeless.
She never would have expected to hear these words from the bottom of his heart under today’s circumstances.
