My Child and I Married a Billionaire

Chapter 482: It's My Fault

  • Next Chapter

About ten minutes later, the delivery driver arrived. Wyatt Wynn got the order, handed it to a server, and returned to Brandon Jacobs’s side, his face etched with worry.

They watched the server go inside, but to their surprise, she came running back out toward them in a panic just moments later.

She made a beeline for Brandon Jacobs.

“It’s terrible! Sir, it’s terrible! Your wife… sh-she’s hemorrhaging! You need to go see her, quick!”

‘What? How could Faye Fisher be hemorrhaging out of nowhere?’

Before Brandon Jacobs could even react, Wyatt Wynn had already bolted toward the women’s restroom.

Zeke Walton and Damien Vaughn exchanged a stunned look before running after them as well.

By the time they arrived, Wyatt Wynn already had Faye Fisher in his arms.

Fortunately, she was wearing a black outfit. Her pants were hastily pulled up, and blood was trickling down her leg.

Brandon Jacobs’s brows furrowed. “What happened?”

The men present were all shrewd; everyone’s gaze fell on Wyatt Wynn’s face. Even an idiot could guess what had probably happened.

Wyatt Wynn knew he couldn’t hide it any longer—and he hadn’t wanted to for some time. He gritted his teeth.

“She miscarried. We’ll talk later. I have to get her to the hospital.”

As he said this, he started to rush out with Faye Fisher, but Brandon Jacobs grabbed him to stop him.

“Are you insane? My mom and her parents are out there. How is she supposed to show her face ever again? Give her to me!”

Brandon Jacobs took her from him.

Sure enough, the moment they were outside, the elders panicked.

Brandon Jacobs took all the blame upon himself. He explained that Faye Fisher had just found out she was pregnant a few days ago, but due to overexertion, she was now losing the baby. He told the elders to handle things there while he rushed her to the hospital.

The elders all sighed with pity and regret.

“Why didn’t you tell us sooner that she was pregnant? If your father had known before he… passed, he would have been overjoyed! You two…”

“I’m sorry, Mom. It’s all my fault. We had a small fight a couple of days ago. She was planning to tell you, but because she was upset with me… It’s all my fault.”

“Alright, alright. What’s done is done. Stop talking and get to the hospital.”

Wyatt Wynn quickly spoke up, “I’ll get the car. I’m counting on you guys here, Zeke, Vaughn.”

If the circumstances hadn’t been so critical, Zeke Walton would have insisted on going with them to see what was going on. For now, he had to suppress his curiosity.

They rushed to the hospital, where Faye Fisher was immediately taken into the emergency room.

Brandon Jacobs and Wyatt Wynn were standing outside the hospital room when, without warning, Brandon Jacobs raised his hand and slapped Wyatt Wynn across the face.

He used his full strength, sending Wyatt stumbling back several steps.

But Wyatt Wynn didn’t dodge. He took a few seconds to recover before looking up to meet Brandon’s eyes, a trickle of blood seeping from the corner of his mouth.

“I’m taking this slap because she’s legally married to you and what I did was wrong. I won’t fight back. I accept it. But I won’t stand for a second one.”

“Jacobs, you may have married her, but you never treated her like a wife. Your marriage was in name only. This doesn’t count as her cheating on you.”

Brandon Jacobs’s anger flared. “Whether it counts as cheating isn’t for you to say! We’ve been fucking brothers for years, how could you do this to me? When did you two get together? If this hadn’t happened to her today, how long were you planning on hiding it from me? Wyatt Wynn, you’re a despicable bastard!”

Wyatt Wynn looked at the furious man before him.

“I admit, I’m a scoundrel. I should have been honest about our relationship a long time ago. I’ve been sneaking around this whole time, so curse me out all you want. I’ll take it. But are you completely innocent in all this? Brandon Jacobs, can you dare to say you have no responsibility for things getting to this point?”

“Do you remember what you were doing when you went to Seacliff? Do you remember what you did on all those nights you didn’t come home? Is it that because you’re a man, whatever you do is fine, but she’s the immoral one? You can say whatever you want about me, but you can’t say a thing about her. If you had shown her just a little warmth, given her a glimmer of hope, she never would have come looking for me again.”

Brandon Jacobs’s anger gave way to confusion.

“‘Looking for you again?’ What does that mean? You two knew each other before this?”

Wyatt Wynn looked at him and laid out the truth.

“That’s right. We’ve known each other for a long time. Remember that girlfriend I had when I was studying abroad? That was her. We broke up over a misunderstanding and lost touch for years. If she hadn’t suddenly married you and appeared before me, I probably would have never seen her again in my life.”

Brandon Jacobs understood.

‘No wonder Faye Fisher insisted on marrying me, even though she knew I didn’t like her. No wonder she always looked so utterly desolate. It was all for Wyatt Wynn.’

‘Fucking hell, what a mess!’

“So you still love her? And you two were planning on getting back together from the moment you first reunited?”

Wyatt Wynn replied, “At this point, what’s the use in talking? What’s done is done. I’ll repeat myself: I was in the wrong. You can blame me, and I’ll accept it. But you can’t talk about her. The two of you are just as bad as each other, really. After you’ve handled your father’s affairs, please do her the favor of divorcing her. I plan on taking her away from Veridia for good.”

“So at the end of the day, you get to be the devoted lover, while the two of us are just the scumbag and the bitch, is that it?”

Brandon Jacobs found it laughable.

“If you’re going to make it sound so noble, so righteous, then why do you have to take her away?”

“I’m taking her away to spare her the psychological torment. She feels terrible, especially about your parents. I don’t want to make things awkward for everyone down the line.”

“And have you fucking thought about your parents? Her parents? You just wash your hands of it and leave, and what are they supposed to do?”

Wyatt Wynn was surprised. He hadn’t expected Brandon to still be thinking about Wyatt’s own parents at a time like this.

“We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. The bottom line is, I don’t want her to get hurt again.”

“Who the fuck said I was going to hurt her? Am I that kind of person?”

After hearing everything Wyatt Wynn had to say, Brandon Jacobs was no longer angry.

‘Wyatt Wynn was right about one thing: he and Faye Fisher were six of one, half a dozen of the other. Faye Fisher hadn’t been sitting idly by, but he hadn’t exactly been a saint, either. He couldn’t apply one rule for himself and another for everyone else, could he?’

“You don’t need to hide from me. I’m not so petty that I’d be plotting revenge on you two. If you’d told me from the beginning, I would have divorced her, no questions asked… For now, just don’t let my mom know.”

Wyatt Wynn was stunned. “So you mean…?”

Brandon Jacobs said, “It doesn’t mean anything. We all have to face the consequences of our own actions. I don’t blame anyone.”

With that, Brandon Jacobs slumped into a chair.

Seeing how exhausted he looked, Wyatt Wynn felt a fresh wave of guilt and sat down across from him.

“I never wanted to fall out with you, and I never meant to hurt you. I’m truly sorry things turned out this way. Jacobs, I cherish our brotherhood…”

“You say that as if I fucking don’t. I already said I’m not holding a grudge, so why are you still going on about it?”

Wyatt Wynn started, “I…”

Brandon Jacobs cut him off. “Even without you, she and I would have divorced sooner or later. Enough, let’s not talk about it. Don’t pity me, and don’t worry about me not being able to take it. I have women in my life, too.”

He had long known that Brandon was never idle, but hearing him admit it himself still left Wyatt Wynn with complicated feelings.

“So who is this woman? Is she the reason you’ve been acting so strange lately? Is it difficult for you two to be together? Otherwise, if you already had someone, why did you marry Faye?”

Brandon Jacobs closed his eyes and sighed.

“Just like you, I guess I’m an idiot. If only we’d been as brave as Vaughn and Zeke Walton from the start, we wouldn’t be in this fucking mess.”
