Chapter 669: Transaction

He Rongkun climbed swiftly. Even in the second trial, he remained ahead of the pack. Though he wasn’t number one, breaking into the top three was still an incredible feat.

Yi Tianyun leisurely watched them ascend. He had originally intended to lend a hand, but it now seemed that apart from a little help at the very beginning, they no longer needed his assistance.

He Rongkun’s own skill was quite high; he didn’t need any help at all. Initially, Yi Tianyun had thought He Rongkun’s abilities were average and planned to give him a boost, ensuring he advanced even if he fell below thirtieth place.

The same held true for the second trial; if he couldn’t make it up, Yi Tianyun would have slightly reduced the difficulty. There was no need to be overly strict with these matters. After all, the goal wasn’t to select an Inheritor, so he could take his time. There was no need for excessive rigor.

Of course, now his help wasn’t needed at all. He Rongkun was ascending smoothly on his own, still holding a position in the top three! Such a performance was truly something to behold.

The other Divine Envoys didn’t ask Yi Tianyun any more questions. His previous answer had already said it all. As for what they were truly thinking, that was anyone’s guess.

Most of them were no longer focused on the disciples they had sent. While the trials were important, and one had to rank highly to receive the Martial Arts bestowed by the Ascension Divine Altar, their minds were elsewhere.

The Martial Arts one could obtain were decent, but they were by no means the best. Thus, these techniques were essentially appetizers, not the main course.

But now, an Inheritor was right here, which meant access to a vast legacy of Martial Arts. The Creation Celestial Divine King’s techniques were astounding, but his mastery of Divine Runes, in particular, was absolutely second to none. For this reason, many had tried all manner of schemes to obtain this inheritance, but alas, none had ever succeeded.

Now, the opportunity was right before them. Their gazes were no longer on their disciples but were fixed on Yi Tianyun, all of them wondering how to pry something out of him.

“Young Master Yi, I wonder if you might be willing to impart some of the inheritance to us? Of course, we aren’t asking for it for free. We are prepared to offer you an absolutely handsome reward, one we guarantee you’ll be satisfied with!” one of the Divine Envoys, finally unable to contain himself, shot to his feet and spoke.

“We would also like a piece of the inheritance. We don’t need much, just a small portion would suffice. The compensation is absolutely negotiable…”

“We…”

One after another, they scrambled to their feet, eager to trade for some of the inherited Martial Arts. Once the first person had spoken, the rest naturally followed suit.

Yi Tianyun was not the least bit surprised by their excitement. Instead, he said calmly, “I do indeed possess many legacies. But do you think the Creation Celestial Divine King was a fool who would allow me to pass them on to just anyone? Many of these legacies cannot be spoken of. I trust you all understand this.”

They exchanged glances. Such restrictive seals on inheritances were extremely common. But if that was the case, how were they supposed to obtain any part of the legacy? Their spirits dampened instantly.

“Of course, sharing the Martial Arts will be difficult, but when it comes to the Divine Runes, I have some leeway,” Yi Tianyun said coolly. “Those I can share freely. I imagine you’re most interested in the Divine Rune inheritance anyway, aren’t you? The Creation Celestial Divine King’s greatest achievement was his Divine Runes, not his Martial Arts.”

When it came to the most famous Cultivation Martial Arts, they certainly weren’t held by the Creation Celestial Divine King. Of course, the King’s own Cultivation Martial Arts were still highly coveted. It was simply that the most renowned techniques belonged to other Divine Kings.

The Creation Celestial Divine King was most famous for his Divine Runes—the Divine Runes of a Creator, whose value was in a league of its own. Across the Three Realms, there were only three Creator-level Divine Rune Masters, and the Creation Celestial Divine King was one of them.

The other two had vanished without a trace. Only the Creation Celestial Divine King had left a legacy behind, making its significance unparalleled.

“I-In that case, that’s wonderful! We are more than willing to trade compensation for the inheritance, and we’ll absolutely make it worth your while!”

“The same goes for us! We don’t need the Cultivation Martial Arts, we just want the Divine Rune inheritance!”

The previously disappointed Divine Envoys were once again energized, their faces flushing with excitement. This was the real reason they had come. Wasn’t striving for a top rank just another way to see if they could obtain the Divine Rune inheritance?

Unfortunately, trial after trial, no one had ever succeeded, and it was widely believed that no trial would ever grant it. In reality, that was true. The rewards were simply decent Martial Arts—at worst, they were high-grade Earth Level, and at best, they reached the Heaven Level. For an average power, this was already like a Treasure falling from the heavens.

“No. I don’t want your compensation. I only need a piece of information,” Yi Tianyun said, swirling the fine wine in his cup, his expression as serene as ever.

“‘A piece of information?'” The envoys exchanged glances. They had never heard of such a payment. They all assumed he would demand a certain quantity of Spirit Medicine or a number of weapons in trade.

Beside them, Wei Feizhou’s heart gave a jolt. He already had a rough idea of what was coming.

“Yes, a piece of information,” Yi Tianyun said calmly. “Help me find a Hidden Clan. They wear white robes, embroidered with a light red plum blossom. Whoever brings me the most comprehensive information will receive the Divine Rune inheritance from me. Don’t worry, I won’t go back on my word, nor will I fob you off with some useless trash. I will give you a very worthy Divine Rune legacy.”

“Of course,” he added, “if you try to fool me with just any random information, then don’t blame me for being… impolite.”

Yi Tianyun’s gaze turned cold, piercing straight into their hearts and making them tremble. A chill ran through them. ‘Could it be that this young man isn’t just relying on the Ascension Divine Altar to intimidate people, but on his own strength?’

A single look from him could make their blood run cold, as if they were facing their own Saint King.

Yi Tianyun then slowly took a sip of the fine wine, retracting his gaze. Everything returned to normal, as if nothing had happened.

This was precisely why he had revealed his identity. He didn’t have Soul Guidance, but he had power! As long as he announced who he was, the Divine Envoys would come flocking to him.

Then, he could have this whole crowd investigate for him. With so many Divine Kingdom powers at his disposal, he refused to believe he couldn’t find a single Hidden Clan. Sometimes, one didn’t have to rely on the System. With so many real-world Cultivators available to help, the search would be much easier.

As for which Divine Rune inheritance he would give them, he certainly wouldn’t part with the most crucial ones; some mid-tier Divine Runes would suffice. Even if he had to give away some high-tier ones, it wouldn’t matter. None of it was particularly important—not compared to obtaining information about Shi Xueyun.

Wei Feizhou, who was standing nearby, nodded to himself. ‘Just as I thought,’ he mused. ‘It’s all to find that woman!’

The crowd exchanged bewildered glances. They never expected his price would be to find a Hidden Clan! But this was much more manageable. A mere piece of information was far better than having to trade away a vast amount of Treasure.
