My Mother-in-Law Gifted Me a Building
Chapter 437: The Martial Arts Venerable Makes Breakfast
That was just how Chu Feng was. No matter what anyone said, his first thought was always for his family.
He didn’t care what people said about him; his family would always come first.
Everything else was secondary. If he had time, he’d look into it. If not, he’d just forget about it.
As for the old saying, “With great power comes great responsibility,” Chu Feng didn’t buy it.
He simply did as he pleased. If he was in a good mood and felt like doing something, he’d do it.
If he didn’t, it was useless for anyone to ask.
“You… Never mind. Just go,” Su Miaoke said. She had wanted to say more, but ultimately held her tongue.
She’d been with Chu Feng long enough to know his personality. Saying anything more would be pointless; he wouldn’t change.
As Chu Feng was leaving the Venerable Hall, he happened to run into Bai Han.
“Did you just get back from the arena?” Chu Feng asked curiously.
“Yes, everything over there is handled. I killed a few Ninja from the Wo Country, so those guys should be quiet for a while,” Bai Han said with a nod. However, her aura seemed unsteady, and there were several cuts on her clothes, as if she’d been slashed.
“Looks like you took a few hits. Your clothes are torn,” Chu Feng said, slightly surprised.
He hadn’t expected that even with Bai Han making a move, her opponent could still manage to land a few slashes. While she wasn’t injured, her clothes were shredded.
“Yes. They almost got me. Thankfully, I managed to kill them,” Bai Han replied. It was clear she had faced a powerful foe and had a close call.
“They were that strong? I’ll head over later to check things out. If you’re all right, you should go get some rest. I’m going to make some breakfast first,” Chu Feng said.
“I’m fine. But… what did you just say you were going to do?” Bai Han frowned, thinking she must have misheard him.
“Make breakfast. I’ll head over after I eat. You go get some rest,” Chu Feng said.
“You know how to make breakfast? You don’t have to do that yourself, do you? Aren’t there people who handle that?” Bai Han asked, confused. Her face was a mask of disbelief.
After all, Chu Feng’s status was anything but low. He was a Martial Arts Venerable.
One of the highest-ranking individuals at the entire Martial Arts Grand Ceremony, and he needed to personally make his own breakfast? If word got out, no one would believe it.
“My wife just woke up and said she was hungry. She wants me to make her breakfast, so that’s what I’m going to do. She hasn’t had my cooking in a long time,” Chu Feng explained.
With that, he paid no mind to Bai Han’s expression and simply headed toward the kitchen.
Bai Han remained rooted to the spot, completely dumbfounded and in utter disbelief.
She couldn’t wrap her head around it. He was already a Martial Arts Venerable; why would he ever need to cook for himself?
‘Ah, that girl Miaoke really found a good husband. She’s so lucky,’ Bai Han thought with a smile.
‘How many people in the world could ever claim to have eaten a meal cooked by a Martial Arts Venerable? That kind of treatment was a rarity beyond compare.’
‘Once someone reached that level, they simply didn’t cook for themselves. Everything was typically arranged for them by dedicated staff.’
In the kitchen, the busy chefs saw Chu Feng arrive and all called out respectfully, “Venerable Chu Feng!”
They had all witnessed his power and knew his status, so they were extremely deferential.
“Yes, it’s fine, it’s fine. You all carry on with your work. I just need to use a stove to make some breakfast,” Chu Feng said.
The chefs froze for a moment upon hearing this. Then, as if they’d received a shock, they hurriedly said, “Venerable Chu Feng, just tell us what you’d like to eat! We’ll prepare it right away and have it sent over. There’s no need for you to do it yourself.”
“No need. Just do your own work. I’ll handle it myself. If it’s really a problem, you can all go out for a smoke or a walk. You can come back when I’m done,” Chu Feng said with a wave of his hand.
He then picked up some eggs and began to fry them.
Seeing this, the chefs felt helpless. Their words carried little weight, so how could they dare to say anything more?
So, they simply left the kitchen.
Chu Feng paid no mind to the chefs’ gossiping.
To them, it was a shocking and unbelievable event, but to Chu Feng, it was completely normal.
After all, he’d been born into a poor family and had learned to cook for himself at a very young age.
It was only later, after meeting the God of Wealth, that his fate had been reversed.
Otherwise, he’d still be slogging away at some miserable job in Beihai City, earning a paltry three to five thousand a month and barely scraping by on that pittance.
In less than half an hour, Chu Feng had cooked some porridge, fried a few eggs, and prepared some other side dishes. He packed it all up and brought it back to the Venerable Hall.
Su Miaoke was sitting in a chair by the window, mesmerized by the scenery outside.
“Stop daydreaming. Come and eat breakfast,” Chu Feng said.
“Honey, you’re such a powerful figure now. Doesn’t it feel… beneath you to still be making breakfast for me?” Su Miaoke asked.
“Why would I feel that way? Aren’t you my wife? Now stop overthinking things and eat,” Chu Feng said.
