My Mother-in-Law Gifted Me a Building
Chapter 456: Great Crisis
Chu Feng then shrank the Innate Eight Trigrams Compass to the size of an ordinary pendant and hung it around his neck.
He kept it tucked under his clothes, where no one could see it.
Even if someone did see it, what of it? Few would recognize it, and most people certainly wouldn’t know what it was.
“Chu Feng!” Just as Chu Feng was feeling pleased with himself, a voice called out from outside, followed by persistent knocking.
It was Chu Tianshan. He hadn’t been in the Venerable Hall earlier because he’d gone to find some contacts and get information.
Chu Feng opened the door and asked, “What’s going on? Did you find anything out?”
“I did. Spirit Sword Valley is making a ruthless move this time. They’ve gathered numerous Martial Arts Sects, with dozens of cultivators at the Martial Arts Peak Realm alone. They plan to hunt you down together, then move on to eradicate the Celestial Sword Sect. The Chu Family, of course, is on their list too,” Chu Tianshan said with a grave expression.
“Do you have an exact number?” Chu Feng asked.
“I don’t know the exact count, but it should be in the dozens,” Chu Tianshan said.
“That old hag is truly vicious. She rounded up so many people just to kill me? How shameless can you get?” Chu Feng said, somewhat exasperated.
“You’re just figuring that out now? I told you before, those old women from Spirit Sword Valley are not to be trifled with. What now? We should just run for it! If we’re too slow, we’ll be chopped into mincemeat sooner or later!” Chu Tianshan exclaimed. His courage was failing him; he was genuinely terrified.
‘There are only two of us. How can we possibly fight against dozens of Martial Arts Peak Realm Cultivators?’
‘If each of them landed just one blow, we’d be torn to shreds.’
‘Even with the Three Swords Sect and the Celestial Mountain Sect on our side, that’s still less than ten Martial Arts Peak Realm cultivators combined. That’s not even close to enough.’
“Run for it? That’s wishful thinking. They’ve already made these preparations; do you really think they’ll let us get away?” Chu Feng said.
At this point, Spirit Sword Valley and its allies would have surely made all sorts of preparations. They would definitely be intercepted before they could even get off the Big Snow Plateau.
“Are you out of your mind? They have dozens of cultivators at the Martial Arts Peak Realm! You think you can beat them? Even if you can handle a few at once, can you take on dozens? Do you think you’re some kind of god?” Chu Tianshan said, shooting Chu Feng an exasperated look.
The man was scared witless, and who could blame him?
After all, he had only just reached the Martial Arts Peak Realm and was still a long way from the true Martial Arts Limit. He had no desire to throw his life away.
In this situation, even a master at the Martial Arts Limit would be useless. You’d need a dozen or two of them to have any chance of turning the tables.
But it was obvious they couldn’t find that many people at the Martial Arts Limit. If they truly had such connections, Spirit Sword Valley wouldn’t have dared to try and hunt them in the first place.
“What’s with all the nonsense? There’s still time. The rewards haven’t even been awarded yet. I reckon if they’re going to make a move, it’ll be after the award ceremony,” Chu Feng said.
‘He didn’t care about anything else, but he had to get what was his first.’
After all, his Southern Venerable Hall had produced several people in the top ten, including the first-place winner. Naturally, there would be corresponding rewards for that.
“Then get some for the family while you’re at it,” Chu Tianshan said.
“Yeah. When the time comes, you can take the Martial Techniques and Skills they award me back to the Chu Family. And ten Martial Cultivation Spirit Stones as well,” Chu Feng said.
“Excellent! As expected of Venerable Chu Feng! So domineering, so generous! Even the scraps you cast aside are a fortune to the Chu Family.” Chu Tianshan’s face broke into a wide grin, his eyes crinkling. The more he looked at Chu Feng, the more he liked what he saw.
“Oh, right. There might be some precious swords and other rewards, too. Take them all. I have no use for them,” Chu Feng said.
‘He truly had no use for such things at the moment. All he needed were Martial Cultivation Spirit Stones. Other Cultivation Techniques were useless to him, unless it was one that could strengthen his Divine Soul. That might pique his interest a little.’
“You guys probably aren’t short on money, but take that too. I can’t be bothered with it,” Chu Feng said.
Being a Martial Arts Venerable came with a stipend, as well as various rewards and subsidies.
“We don’t need that. It’s not worth much, just good for buying meals. The Chu Family isn’t short on cash these days. But I definitely want those swords,” Chu Tianshan said with a smile.
He no longer had any interest in money. After all, they had recruited many agents in the mortal world, and the Chu Family was now wealthy, not destitute like when they had first re-emerged.
“Don’t worry,” Chu Feng said. “None of this is useful to me.”
“Let’s have a drink,” Chu Feng said. “Once this is all over, I’ll head back to Xixiang. If you’re going to Fuhe Village, it’s right on the way. Wang Hong has already arranged for people to wait for us.”
“Yeah, let’s talk about that later,” Chu Feng said. “First, let’s see how things go tonight. It’d be best if we can resolve this all in one go.”
