My Mother-in-Law Gifted Me a Building

Chapter 478: Are You Okay?

Chu Feng didn’t say anything else. While it would cost a fair bit of money, it was undeniably for the benefit of the community.

The next day arrived quickly, and Uncle Wang took the initiative to gather the villagers.

He was actually the village chief of Fuhe Village, but since everyone was usually so friendly, he never put on airs.

But whenever a major decision had to be made for the village, he was always the first to step forward.

Before long, everyone had been assembled.

Many villagers owned land around the reservoir, which meant compensation for the land that would be used was a factor. All of this had to be made perfectly clear.

Chu Feng was adamant about this—they absolutely could not take advantage of anyone.

If any land was used, even a single meter, it had to be compensated, and compensated generously at that.

“The money for building the road around the reservoir this time is being fully funded by our village’s wealthiest resident, Chu Feng,” Uncle Wang said. “All everyone needs to do is cooperate with measuring the land that will be affected. Once we determine the area for each family, there will be compensation.”

“Village Chief, surely the compensation isn’t necessary, is it?” someone spoke up. “Xiao Feng has already built large villas for every family and given each of us a car. If we still took his money just because the reservoir project uses a little bit of our land, what kind of people would that make us?”

“Exactly! Xiao Feng has helped us so much. How could we possibly take his money? In any case, I won’t be accepting any payment for my land.”

“That’s right, I don’t want any money either. If you need an extra hand, just give me a shout.”

A chorus of voices chimed in. Everyone had benefited greatly from Chu Feng’s generosity—with cars and houses, it all added up to several million.

Any normal person with a sense of gratitude would likely have felt the same way.

“Everyone, listen to me! Quiet down!” Village Chief Wang called out, silencing the crowd.

Everyone immediately fell silent and stopped arguing.

“Regarding this matter,” Village Chief Wang said, “Xiao Feng has made it clear. No matter whose land is involved, everyone will be compensated. Refusing payment is not an option. You *must* be compensated!”

His words set everyone to murmuring.

Of course, all of them were singing Chu Feng’s praises.

“That Xiao Feng is really something else,” one person said with a laugh. “I knew he was special ever since he was a kid. Destined to make a fortune. And look at him now—I was right!”

“Yes, yes, I could tell even when he was a kid. Xiao Feng is kind and grateful. No matter how much money he makes, he never forgets the people of his village,” another person added in firm agreement.

Everyone was full of praise and satisfaction for Chu Feng’s actions.

After all, when the money is right, who wouldn’t be satisfied?

“Since no one has any objections, follow me in a bit, and we’ll measure the land area. We’ll get the money distributed to everyone afterward,” Village Chief Wang said with a smile.

Afterward, the group made their way to the reservoir and began measuring the land.

For some families, entire fields were involved; for others, it was just a small section.

Just then, Little Overlord Hei Tian arrived.

After all, Chu Feng had told him to take full charge of these matters.

The real reason was to prevent anyone from causing trouble. Plus, it gave Hei Tian a job to do. With him overseeing things, it was only natural that no one would dare to stir up any problems.

“How are things with the construction team you contacted?” Chu Feng asked.

“Brother Feng, don’t you worry. I already contacted them last night. They should be able to start work very soon,” Little Overlord Hei Tian replied.

“Good. Just make sure you stay on top of it. If any hitches or issues come up, I expect you to handle them,” Chu Feng said.

Throughout the morning, Chu Feng kept a close eye on the proceedings.

He had initially been worried that people might argue and haggle over the land issues. But as it turned out, not only was there no quarreling, but everyone was surprisingly on the same page.

They didn’t want high compensation; everyone insisted on being paid the lowest possible rate, saying a token amount would be more than enough.

Everyone felt that since Chu Feng had blessed the village with so much and done so many good deeds for them, it would be wrong to take his money.

Even so, Chu Feng insisted on compensating everyone according to the original plan.

As everything proceeded, things went smoothly and peacefully.

“Honey, are you getting ready to go to the Southern Border?” Su Miaoke asked.

The two of them were taking a stroll through the village after dinner.

The village was far more luxurious now than before. Anyone who didn’t know better might mistake it for a community of millionaires.

“We’ll see. I’m not in a rush right now. To be honest, I’m more interested in going to the Misty Immortal Mountain than the Southern Border,” Chu Feng replied.

“Mm,” Su Miaoke said, nodding. “In any case, most things have been wrapped up. You should take a good rest for a while before slowly dealing with the rest.”

But just as the words left her mouth, she suddenly bent over and retched, dry heaving again.

“Miaoke, what’s wrong? Are you okay?” Chu Feng asked, his face etched with worry as he looked at her.

“I’m fine,” Su Miaoke said, shaking her head. “I just suddenly felt a bit nauseous. I probably ate too much for lunch.”

“Let me take a look,” Chu Feng said. Then, he immediately used his Divine Soul Power to examine Su Miaoke’s body.
