My Online Girlfriend Has a Twin Sister
Chapter 774: The Grand Wedding Day (Part 3)
Students who had come from that small county town were now scattered across universities in different places. They had once been good friends with Chen Yuan, but they had all gone off to different cities.
And today, they too received a special letter.
Ultimately, all this surprise and shock converged into an extremely lively discussion in their old class group chat.
After all, Chen Yuan was the first in their graduating class to get married.
Even their old homeroom teacher, who had personally seen this batch of students off, popped up in the QQ group chat.
“What? Chen Yuan’s getting married? How come I didn’t know about this? His dad didn’t tell me either! Are you sure this isn’t fake news?” the homeroom teacher asked in shock.
Most of the boys in their class had been on good terms with Chen Yuan, so they were mostly happy for him after hearing the news. The girls, however, weren’t quite as thrilled… After all, in their small-town high school, Chen Yuan had been one of the most outstanding guys on campus—handsome, tall, and a good basketball player.
Back then, plenty of girls from other classes had been jealous that they got to be in the same class as Chen Yuan.
Those childish memories had long since vanished like smoke. Someone had even written Chen Yuan a love letter and stuffed it in his desk. The news brought all these dusty memories of their youth flooding back, one after another.
It felt as if it had all happened just yesterday.
「Meanwhile.」
Far away in Hainan, Rourou had also heard the news.
She sat on the edge of her bed, her heart a tangle of emotions.
‘This time,’ she thought, ‘I truly understand. Other than offering my blessings, there’s nothing else for me. Chen Yuan’s life and mine have truly reached a fork in the road. From now on, there are no other possibilities.’
The letters, like birds with wings, spread far and wide.
They reached Jiangg Yao’s online friends, people she’d known in a group chat for years. They had never met in person, but they shared a bond as deep as sisters.
Jiangg Ning’s old acquaintances from abroad also received the news and would be rushing over from across the ocean, just as the letters invited them to.
To witness their happiness together.
…
「July.」
July 15th. A sweltering summer day, a season brimming with boundless passion. The blazing sun relentlessly cast its heat down upon the world.
The entrance of the Empress Hotel.
Countless luxury cars had gathered, a truly dazzling sight. The parking lot was already full, with many spilling out onto the street. Even the wedding car parked outside the main hall’s revolving glass doors had been squeezed for space.
The heiresses of the Huaxia Jiang Energy Company were getting married today. Only close friends and family had been informed. Outsiders had no idea what was happening, staring in shock as a procession of Rolls-Royces paraded through half the city, their hoods covered in vibrant roses.
Guests arrived from all corners of the country, gathering on the lawn behind the Empress Hotel, which had been specially prepared for the wedding ceremony.
Sunlight spilled down, bathing the lush green lawn in a golden glow. Hedges of white roses enclosed the area. A series of arched trellises stood on the grass, with pure white silk ribbons draping down from their tops.
A gentle breeze rustled through, creating a picturesque scene.
A red carpet stretched from the floral arch all the way to the ceremonial stage. On either side were seats for the guests, and flower children were scattered about.
A champagne tower and bottles of red wine were arranged neatly on the tables as the elegant, unending melody of string music filled the air.
“Whoa, this is seriously grand.”
“Didn’t you see it yesterday when they were setting up? Why are you marveling at it again?”
“It’s worth marveling at a hundred times. Now *this* is what you call extravagance. *This* is extravagance.” Liu Nan steadied himself on Wei Zhen’s shoulder. Both wore boutonnieres with the word “Groomsman” clearly visible, indicating their roles.
They were stealing a moment of leisure amidst the chaos.
After all, as groomsmen, they had a ton of things to do. They were the backbone ensuring the wedding went off without a hitch.
“Who’s at that table over there?” Liu Nan poked Wei Zhen’s back and jutted his chin toward a table of girls on the lawn.
“Probably friends of Jiangg or Yaoyao. They look about the right age.”
“They’re all so pretty…”
“Of course. Birds of a feather flock together. Pretty people hang out with other pretty people.”
“You’ve got a point. No wonder Old Third is our bro. Guess the four of us in our dorm are all on the same level, looks-wise. Tsk, tsk,” Liu Nan said, stroking his chin.
Wei Zhen was speechless and immediately rolled his eyes at him.
“Stop your yammering and come with me to Chen Yuan’s room. A whole table of senior figures is waiting for someone to serve them tea. We need to accept our roles as servants for the day.”
With that, he dragged away Liu Nan, who was still reluctant to stop staring at the beautiful girls.
Meanwhile, at that not-so-distant table, a group of girls was chattering nonstop.
“Yaoyao is seriously loaded, no joke. Look at this whole setup. She must be marrying into a super-rich family.”
“Hey, don’t say that! I’m getting a piece of the dowry, you know… Wait, have you guys seen a picture of Yaoyao’s husband?”
“Yeah!”
“HOLY SHIT, he’s so hot. Totally my type,” a gorgeous woman who was over 170cm tall and wearing high heels—giving her almost perfect ‘nine-head’ proportions—said excitedly. “You think I could ask Yaoyao to let me borrow her husband for a couple of days?”
“Get lost! How can you act the same way in real life as you do in the group chat?” a girl with pink hair, dressed like Seraphine, shot back.
Her retort instantly sent the whole table of girls into a fit of laughter.
“Hmph, at least I dare to say it. It’s called being brutally honest,” the beauty with long, straight black hair retorted stubbornly.
These two were the resident live wires from Jiangg Yao’s “rich girls” group chat. They bickered all day long but were actually very close. One’s username was “Tyrannosaurus Defying-Heaven Black-Emperor Beautiful-Girl,” while the other had a slightly more artistic name, “One-Night Maple.”
Regardless, Jiangg Yao had finally given everyone, who had sought comfort in their online community, a chance to move from being online friends to meeting up in person.
Inside the hotel, since the ceremony hadn’t started yet, the groom was, as is tradition, keeping the elders company. He was listening to their earnest advice and insights on marriage, which was really just a lot of casual chatter. The brides, busy with makeup, couldn’t make an appearance yet.
So, Chen Yuan was entertaining a room full of guests.
Among them were Chen and Liu He’s friends and relatives, as well as high-level executives from the company. Fortunately, the atmosphere was pleasant, and there were no awkward situations. In fact, the men were deep in a heated discussion about national affairs, while the women were talking about marriage. Each group stuck to their own topics, which strangely seemed to work out perfectly.
The fragrant, mellow tea fueled everyone’s enthusiasm for conversation.
Chen Yuan relied on the lively atmosphere to try and ease his own nervousness.
‘I can’t believe this dream-like wedding day came so quickly.’ Before it arrived, he had been counting the days on his fingers, wondering when he would finally be able to marry the two women he loved most.
And yet, in the blink of an eye, the big day was here.
All of today’s preparations, all the guests who had gathered, were here to witness the happiness of the newlyweds. Marriage is the greatest moment of transformation a boy will experience in his life.
It meant he would now support a small family on his own, sheltering his loved ones from the wind and rain.
It meant that he and the ones he loved would join hands and look forward to a lifetime together, finding meaning in the simple, everyday moments of life.
Dressed in a suit, Chen Yuan looked exceptionally handsome. Of all the men present today, none looked as dashing as he did.
Because he was the only groom.
