My Tribrid System: More than a Monster
Chapter 514: Pot Calling the Kettle Black
Chapter 512
Purple particles rose higher and higher into the air with such fierce intensity that they illuminated nearly half of the entire chamber.
Then, just as rapidly as they had risen, they descended behind the Tribrid, swirling downward until they hovered a few inches above the ground.
An Ogre was about to take a step forward regardless when—
SCREEEEECH—!
The sound was terribly loud, like something furious tearing through the air. It carried enough force to make the surrounding Ogres instinctively hesitate, as though the shriek itself were warning them not to take another step forward.
Ray’s System flashed past his eyes.
[-70 Echo Essence]
Ray almost coughed out blood when he saw what had flashed across his vision.
’Fuck! How—? Oh yeah. Nebula is an Emperor-rank summon, so it makes sense... The good thing is that my Echoes don’t consume Essence while they’re out.’
He heaved a sigh of relief as something began emerging from the blanket of purple mist behind him.
Ray’s attention remained fixed on the Ogre King, but because he was observing it so intently, he noticed a tiny twitch in its expression the moment another blast of energy burst outward.
The chamber practically shook for several seconds as the purple mist churned violently, before something finally unfurled completely and landed behind the boy with a soft, elegant thud.
Except instead of a twenty-foot-tall spider with numerous eyes and eight colossal legs, what stood behind him was a seven-foot-tall, humanoid-looking spider.
Two colossal legs anchored her firmly to the ground, making it seem as though not even the strongest gust of wind could move her.
Two equally colossal hands extended from her arms, their sharpened edges resembling blades capable of splitting even the strongest armor in half.
A dozen crimson eyes lined her face, each one staring forward with an eerie, unsettling intensity.
And instead of a pair of human-like mouths, she retained her sharp mandibles—the very same mandibles that had once crushed Ray close to death only a few months ago.
Even her body was covered in the same durable violet chitin as before, its surface almost glowing beneath the dim light of the chamber.
"Allow me to introduce you," Ray began as he looked straight into the Ogre King’s eyes.
"...Nebula, the Spider Queen. Oh, wait! Can you believe this?" The Tribrid almost chuckled as he lightly turned his head toward Nebula, then back at the King.
"She was a Queen, you are a King. You both will make a great couple, especially since you will soon become my summon after this battle is over."
Ray grinned as he clinked his daggers together.
As if the Ogre King were exhausted by the entire show, it simply heaved a heavy sigh before turning its head toward Nebula for a few seconds, then back at Ray.
"Human too arrogant. Arrogant humans die at my hands."
Ray curled his lips into an ’O’ shape before shifting into a stance.
"Fair."
TAP!
The Ogres all abandoned the fear they had felt toward Nebula as the aura she exuded was almost on par with their King.
Yet, Ray’s senses flared up almost immediately as something streaked toward his back with astonishing speed.
’Huh?’
Whirling around almost immediately, Ray crossed his daggers in front of his face.
CLANG!
One of Nebula’s colossal hands struck his daggers with so much force that it forced him backward for several moments before he dug his feet deeper into the ground, finally regaining his footing.
His hands trembled for a second or two as he stared deep into the Spider Queen’s numerous crimson eyes.
Slowly, his lips curled upward into a grin as the spider retracted her hand and turned her gaze away, as if the event that had just happened a second ago had never occurred.
Straightening himself, he smirked.
’Oh! Still want to kill me, h—oh, no. That wasn’t to kill me. Was that to test my strength? I have grown immensely from the day we clashed.’
Now, the Ogres surged toward them after the command their boss gave them.
Nebula’s eyes glided across the chamber for a few moments.
Then—
She moved.
No hesitation.
No command needed.
She simply blurred forward with such terrifying speed that, for a split second, it seemed as though she had teleported.
The next moment, heads shot into the air like bouncy balls.
Blood sprayed like fountains as Nebula crashed into the midst of the Ogres.
Her colossal hands sliced through the air with practiced ease and brutal efficiency.
No delay.
No hesitation.
No armor could stop her.
The King-rank beasts were nothing more than toys in front of her as she moved with such overwhelming agility and strength that the creatures fell within mere moments.
Mere bl—
No.
A blink was too much time to describe the speed the Spider Queen exuded right now.
Even the Ogre King seemed to sit upright in his seat, his brows drawing closer as he watched his soldiers crumple to the ground like puppets whose strings had suddenly been cut.
Nebula had no mercy.
The moment her purple chitin came into view, before a beast could even register what was happening, it was already falling.
Ray gulped silently at the sight.
His heart raced with each passing second as he watched the Spider Queen dance through the beasts with stunning grace.
Weapons sliced past her effortlessly.
’Fuck... I almost forgot that she had easily killed her King-rank children in her prime. Talk more of now that she’s slightly weak... fuck no! She ain’t weakened.’
Slowly, Ray turned his head toward the Ogre King.
His heart thumped once.
’And I’m going to fight something on par with that? Well, good thing is that I won’t have to do it all alone, though.’
SCREEECH!
Ray’s head snapped back toward the fight.
Nebula was vaulting backward, effortlessly avoiding a club that smashed into the spot she had occupied only a moment ago.
Another Ogre lunged toward her from the side, its spear thrusting straight toward her body.
Nebula blurred forward.
Her mandibles opened wide.
Then—
CLANK!
She caught the spear between her teeth.
The steel weapon trembled violently between her mandibles.
Just like brittle glass...
...No.
More like a twig.
The spear shattered into countless shards.
Before the Ogre could react, one of Nebula’s colossal hands sliced forward and pierced straight through its neck.
In that same fluid movement, she yanked her hand free and immediately swung it into the side of another beast, ripping a deep gash through its body.
The surrounding Ogres barely had time to react before another blur of violet chitin tore through their formation.
Yet Nebula was battling more than a hundred King-rank beasts, and she didn’t even look like she was breaking a sweat.
Ray could do it.
He had already done it.
But he had needed to rely on his bloodline skills, lightning, weapons, and enhanced techniques to achieve it.
Nebula?
She was doing it with nothing but her body.
No ability.
No special technique.
Just pure strength.
Pure speed.
Pure instinct.
Overwhelming agility.
And absolute physical dominance.
Ray’s eyes widened slightly.
’A monster.’
