Chapter 513

Ever since getting his Echo in the Red Gate world, this was the first time Ray was using her in a real fight.

Even during the Aberrant invasion, he had intentionally refused to summon her because he didn’t want to reveal everything he could do to humanity.

His enemies were watching the invasion that day.

Besides, if he had shown that he could use the Lightning ability, transform into a werewolf, and then summon beasts, there wouldn’t have been any need for a trial.

He would have been executed on the spot.

Because only members of the Kyre family could summon beasts through their Beast Taming ability.

If Ray had revealed that he could do the same without being a member of the Kyre family, he would have been deemed a spy and executed immediately.

Ray had studied the Legacies enough to know that these people didn’t like anybody they couldn’t control—or someone who wasn’t even part of them to begin with.

So as Ray watched Nebula massacre dozens of King-rank beasts, he found himself genuinely in awe of what she could do.

Especially since this was the first time he was seeing her fight in this form.

Recalling his battle with the spider, and how he had genuinely been brought incredibly close to death for the second time, Ray was glad he had managed to get her.

Though he wasn’t so sure he would be able to get the Ogre King in the same way.

Hopefully, he would.

Otherwise, he would be incredibly pissed.

Whoooosh!

Nebula leaned her body backward with such elegant grace, watching as a sword sliced past her body and continued hurtling through the air.

In the same motion, her colossal hand struck the Ogre’s elbow, slicing its entire arm off before she snapped back upright and bashed her mandibles into its head, ripping through its eye sockets.

Spinning around to get behind the beast, Nebula seized the Ogre’s head in her sharp, talon-like hands.

With minimal effort, she tore it free before hurling it forward, watching as it smashed directly into the head of another Ogre.

’I don’t get it. Don’t these beasts have an ability or something? I haven’t seen them use any.’

And just like that, Nebula continued her massacre, giving the Ogres no chance to even retaliate while their King watched.

His finger tapped silently against his war hammer as his eyes narrowed, focused entirely on Nebula and nothing else.

Ray turned his head toward the Ogre King, noticing how fixated the beast was on the Spider Queen.

"Oh wow. Is bro in love already? Don’t worry eh, I will make sure I join you both in—"

Swoooosh!

Ray swiftly tilted his head to the side as a strand of silk tore past him with lightning speed before smashing into the ground.

His brows furrowed as he stared at Nebula, who was still fighting as though nothing had happened.

"—I guess she doesn’t like you."

Then, at that moment, some of the Ogres realized they wouldn’t be able to damage the Emperor-rank beast at all.

So they turned their attention toward their next target.

Determined not to disappoint their King, they all dashed toward the Tribrid.

Ray unequipped his daggers, returning them to the System.

Then—

Bang! Bang! Bang!

He weaved between their weapons.

His head tilted from left to right with practiced ease as attacks passed inches from his face.

Seizing one of the beasts by the hand, he tucked its arm beneath his armpit before driving his head into its face, sending the Ogre sliding away.

Bending forward, Ray thrust both fists ahead with all his might.

Crack! Bang!

His knuckles slammed into two abdomens, sending both beasts blasting backward.

Nebula jumped backward with minimal effort, and just like that, she was right beside Ray.

Her colossal hands shot out to either side, catching two Ogres who hadn’t anticipated her movement and impaling them through their bodies.

Ray lunged forward to meet the confused beasts his Echo had been battling.

One hand moved to his side, and a dagger materialized into his grasp just in time.

Swinging his arm forward, a lightning slash tore through the air.

It ripped through the chests of two beasts, sending them skidding away with blood spraying from their wounds.

A shield came flying through the air at rapid speed, only for Ray to launch himself upward, allowing the shield to hurtle beneath him.

The next second, however, a golden lasso appeared and wrapped itself around the shield.

Ray yanked his hand forward.

The shield abruptly changed direction, blasting back toward the beast that had thrown it.

With a powerful swing, the heavy shield tore through the necks of three Ogres before losing momentum. The golden lasso immediately vanished, dissolving into a rain of sparks.

Landing on the ground, Ray watched as Nebula slid backward and came to a stop beside him once again.

Without wasting a second, the Spider Queen twirled around and bolted toward the group of beasts ahead.

"Considering how we both started off, we make a pretty good team, don’t you think?" Ray chuckled as he tilted his head to the side.

A spear suddenly sliced past him and lodged into the ground beside him, sending chunks of concrete flying into the air.

Ray barely reacted.

An Orb of Light could now be seen swirling around his palm.

He thrust his hand forward.

The orb ripped through an Ogre’s stomach, blasting a gaping hole through its torso before continuing forward and sending two more beasts flying backward.

In short, Ray and his Echo were currently tag-teaming the dozens of Ogres as though they were playing some kind of game, moving through the battlefield with frightening coordination while the King watched the entire display without a hint of compassion or emotion in its eyes.

Its soldiers were being reduced from hundreds of beasts to a mere handful.

Within how many minutes now?

Yet the boss continued tapping the head of his war hammer, never breaking the rhythm as its gaze remained fixed on the fighting duo.

As if its mind were constantly churning, searching for a way to defeat them without breaking a sweat.

The Ogre King suddenly looked down at its throne for a moment.

Then—

It snapped its head sideways.

There was barely any change in its expression.

And it was just in time.

A spear hurled by one of its own soldiers crashed into the wall directly behind its head.

A fraction of a second later, and its skull would have been impaled.

The Ogre King slowly looked toward the direction the spear had come from.

Nebula stared back at him with a dozen crimson eyes.

She blinked.

Once.

As if saying—

Oops.

"See? What a lovely dynamic you have already." Ray grunted as he plunged his dagger into the head of an Ogre, watching as the beast slumped lifelessly to the ground.

And with that, the duo had taken out every Ogre in the chamber.

...Well.

Almost every Ogre.

One still remained.

The Ogre King sat upon his throne, war hammer resting in his grasp as he watched Nebula approach Ray.
