Chapter 517

Standing upright with a huff, mist seemed to erupt from the King’s mouth.

The banners and curtains in the chamber caught ablaze almost immediately.

Flames crackled as smoke oozed all across the chamber.

Yet, the Ogre King didn’t fret as his warhammer caught ablaze at the head.

Then, twisting his hip around, he sent the weapon flying.

Ray’s eyes snapped open as he saw the flaming weapon heading his way like a meteor.

Slamming his hands against the wall he was stuck to, Ray pushed off and jumped down in the nick of time as the weapon crashed into the wall and brought the whole thing down in a rain of debris and stone.

Ray’s heart pounded loudly against his ears.

*Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Even with how strong I have become, I’m still not enough for an Emperor-rank beast? Aren’t Five-Spined Aberrants kind of on their level? Or maybe weaker?*

*Shit... no use thinking about the power scaling now.*

And that was right. There was legitimately no time to think, because unlike him, Nebula hadn’t gone crashing into a wall.

She anchored herself into the ground and, like a loose spring, lunged forward.

Within a flash, she was before the Ogre King again.

Her normal talon-like hands rushed toward the King.

The Ogre deflected each of the strikes with his guards while moving backward, as the Spider Queen pressed her opportunity, making sure to push against him with everything she had.

The King remained calm regardless.

Even though his weapon wasn’t with him at the moment, he was still holding his own against the Emperor-rank Echo.

Their hands blurred through the air as they moved across the burning chamber.

The curtains and banners fell to the ground, still roaring with flames and seemingly spreading across the whole place.

Ray coughed for a few seconds as his eyes tracked the fighting duo.

*I-I need to get back into the fight.*

Pushing himself back to his feet, Ray took in deep breaths before pointing his hands forward.

[Arc of Judgement Activated]

A bright light crackled around his hands as the air distorted for a few moments.

Then, from the depths of the light, a sword-like beam began forming as Ray concentrated, his eyes tracking the fighting duo for an opportunity to launch his attack.

Nebula burst forward with her mandibles shooting toward the King as if wanting to snap his head in her clutches.

Twisting his body to the side to avoid her, the King’s massive leg blurred forward and was about to crash into her side, only for Nebula to rotate.

The leg flashed past her body as she darted sideways and sent her elbow crashing into the King’s jaw with bone-rattling force.

The King roared in pain as his head was thrown backward and he reeled backward from the impact.

BANG!

A sword-like beam rocketed forward, flashing past Nebula and shooting toward the Ogre, who was yet to regain his momentum.

Alas!

One of the King’s eyes turned orange, and then something responded with an intense vibrating force.

Ray crouched down low in the nick of time as the massive warhammer flew past his head.

Nebula twirled, the weapon flying past her before landing back into the Ogre’s grasp.

He proceeded to slam the weapon into the ground, conjuring his barrier in a flash.

The beam smashed into the barrier with a concussive bang.

And to Ray’s and the King’s surprise, cracks spiderwebbed across the surface of the barrier, but still, it held as the beam dissipated.

Yet, a crack had appeared?

Even his physical attacks had been unable to damage the barrier, yet the beam had cracked it?

A sudden spark of hope ignited in his heart.

A spark.

Lifting his weapon, the King hurled it back down, and a funnel of flames roared forward.

Nebula immediately leapt away, watching as the flames tore past her, singeing the ground as they hurtled toward Ray.

Shifting into a stance, the boy stared at the approaching flames, a determined glow burning in his eyes.

Then lightning exploded across his entire body.

A shroud of electricity wrapped around him, his eyes seeming to glow with the sparks dancing across his skin before the lightning dulled for a brief moment.

Only for the flames to cross the final metre and reach the boy.

The lightning erupted fiercely, clashing against the flames with everything it had.

The ground crackled and shuddered beneath Ray’s feet as the two forces battled against each other, fire and lightning violently colliding in front of the Ogre King.

Ray ground his teeth as the flames gradually pushed him backward.

His feet dragged across the ground.

But he refused to give in.

Finally, Ray let out a powerful howl and released a surge of lightning that dispelled the flames before he immediately darted forward.

The King spun his burning warhammer in his grasp before slamming the weapon into the ground.

BOOOM!

Nebula was forced to vault into the air as fire consumed the entire ground. Flames erupted from beneath the earth, bursting upward with such force that the battlefield resembled a miniature volcano.

Ray weaved between the spewing flames, his expression hardened with determination.

Two lightning spears began arcing around his hands as electricity coiled around his legs.

Then—

BANG!

A sudden burst of speed sent him blurring forward.

Leaping from the earth, Ray hurled the spears forward with a loud grunt.

"Pathetic human."

The King croaked out as he released his grip on the hammer, allowing it to thud against the ground.

Then he slid one leg behind him and crossed his hands in front of his face, calmly waiting.

The spears slammed into his guard with tremendous momentum.

Yet, they weren’t enough to move the beast even an inch.

The lightning spears continued crackling and spinning with furious velocity, desperately grinding against the metallic guard covering his hands, but they couldn’t break through.

Then, with a powerful roar, the beast threw his hands outward.

The spears were launched straight back toward their sender.

At the same time, Nebula appeared behind the King, her bladed hands rushing toward his exposed back.

The King pivoted around.

A loud crack echoed through the chamber, almost as if the beast had torn a muscle from the sudden movement.

Yet he still managed to reach forward and grab Nebula’s bladed hands, stopping them dead in their tracks.

The earth shuddered beneath their feet.

Cracks spread across the ground as the two stared at each other, both carrying a malicious glint in their eyes.

Nebula’s crimson eyes gleamed as she opened her mandibles wide, almost as though she were about to speak.

Unfortunately, she was incapable of speech.

"Beast wants to say something?"

To the King’s shock, a loud screech tore from the Echo’s mouth.

His eyes narrowed.

Something was spinning with tremendous force deep within the creature’s throat.

Then—

A white liquid burst forward, shooting toward the King with lightning speed.

Too fast.
