Chapter 577

Just as Captain Raze had predicted, it took about four hours for the Aeroglide to reach Wall Rose.

The moment it arrived, the squad left the ruins of Wall Rose behind and entered the comfort of the Glide, where they dispersed into several rooms to freshen up.

As water streamed down Ray’s body, he felt soothed by the sensation. The blood that had covered him gradually washed away as he stood beneath the shower, his hands pressed against the wall in front of him while he remained lost in deep thought.

’Why? Why did the System give me so little EXP? I gained more from the Tier Three Gate than I did today.

Why is that? I even fought a Three-Spined Aberrant, yet my rewards are this little? Is the System becoming stingy all of a sudden?’

The sound of water pouring from the showerhead filled the room as Ray remained alone with his thoughts.

The day was drawing closer to evening.

Raze hadn’t made any more calls, considering that he was certain the Big Four had watched the livestream. It wouldn’t be long before they sent men down to begin rebuilding the Wall.

For now, everyone could afford to relax.

Everyone except Ray, who continued cursing at the System inwardly while standing beneath the shower.

’No new skills, no techniques, no massive dump of experience points. The he—?!’

{Ugh... Host complains a lot.}

*TRING—!*

The System chimed loudly, its annoyed ring echoing in Ray’s ears as a screen materialised before his field of vision.

[System’s ears have bled enough and have decided to bless the Host with three items from the System Shop. It’s been a while since you got some good equipment, so sit back and prepare to smile your face off.]

Ray’s heart leaped with joy.

His hand immediately reached forward, turning off the shower before he grabbed a towel and wrapped it around his body. He then hurried outside.

After drying himself off, he rushed towards the bed and sat down with an eager grin plastered across his face.

’Come on. Please be something good. I might need them when I go to rescue Kai.’

His hands clenched together in a silent prayer as he anxiously clicked on the screen to see what rewards he had received.

[Item 1 sent to inventory. Check it out?]

Gulping loudly, Ray nodded.

"Yes."

The screen switched to the item’s information pane.

A small image of the item appeared to one side, with its name and description written boldly and clearly beside it.

[Item type: Weapon.]

[Name: Spear of Adaptability.]

[Description: SOA is a weapon that shapeshifts from a spear into a short sword. Its unpredictable form and abilities allow the wielder to be versatile in combat.]

[Weapon’s rank: Emperor.]

Ray almost coughed aloud at what he saw before him.

An Emperor-Ranked weapon?

His heart began thumping with excitement at the sight.

"My-My first Emperor-Ranked weapon?"

Overwhelmed by sheer joy, he didn’t even realise when he equipped the weapon.

Sparks wove into existence as purple lightning crackled around his hands before gathering together to form a spear.

It was a spear, all right. Long and somewhat thin, it rested firmly in his grasp.

Its surface was silver, and its pointed tip looked incredibly sharp.

Ray stood upright and began testing out a few movements.

Thanks to his ’Weapon Mastery’ perk, which granted him fifteen percent mastery over all weapons, he was able to thrust and slice with the spear smoothly, his movements coming more naturally than he had expected.

He spun the weapon around for a few moments, familiarising himself with its weight before mentally commanding it to transform into a sword.

The transformation was instantaneous, and the weapon didn’t feel much different in his hand.

With a simple change in form, the spear became a silver short sword, allowing him to transition seamlessly into slashing movements.

The weapon cut through the air with a beautiful, incredibly sharp whistle, its passage seeming to tear at space itself.

Ray danced around the room, going through a series of movements with the sword.

He repeatedly shifted between spear and sword, eager to get accustomed to the weapon and understand how it handled in both forms.

Thanks to his ’Perfect and Absolute Muscle Memory’ perk, which allowed him to instantly memorise and replicate movements he had performed before, he was able to wield the SOA with remarkable fluidity.

Soon, he stopped.

His grin remained uncontrollable as he de-equipped the weapon and sent it back into his inventory.

With a satisfied sigh, he strolled back to his bed and sat down, eager to see what else the System had in store for him.

[Second item delivered.]

Opening his inventory, he clicked on the second item and decided to read its description.

[Item type: Utility.]

[Name: Never Empty Ladle.]

[Description: A ladle that forever remains filled with steaming hot, delicious soup.]

That was all.

No further explanation was provided, and Ray simply blinked at the System for a few moments.

He honestly didn’t know how to feel.

Thanks to his metabolism, he could go days without eating, but his Werewolf bloodline always seemed to compel him to stuff his face with food. And despite how much he ate, he barely got to enjoy anything particularly good.

But with this ladle, he could eat as much as he wanted?

He could eat to his heart’s content without ever having to worry about running out of soup?

He already had the [Infinite Spring], which never ran out of water, and now he had the [Never Empty Ladle], which never ran out of soup.

What a perfect pair!

He didn’t need to summon it right now, though. He wasn’t hungry at the moment, not after everything he had been through.

Besides, just a few hours ago, he had feasted on an Aberrant’s leg.

"Next item."

[Third item delivered.]

Tapping on the item, he began reading its description.

[Item type: Utility.]

[Name: Underpants of Incredible Comfort.]

[Description: You know how it’s always hard to find underwear that will allow your thing to breathe in peace without feeling itchy, uncomfortable, or suffocated?

Well, worry no more, for these underpants provide incredible comfort and allow your thing to breathe easily.]

Ray’s face fell as he stared at the description before him.

"The fuck, you blasted System? What sort of shitty item is this? Did I ever complain about feeling uncomfortable? You could have given me a reality-shattering weapon, but this?"

As he raged, the System went silent, offering no response while Ray continued barking out curses until he finally calmed down.

He didn’t even know what prompted him to equip the underwear. Yet, before he realised what he was doing, he had already activated the item, and the clothing settled onto his body.

The moment it did, Ray jumped to his feet, ready to curse at the System once more.

Then he paused.

He stretched for a few moments before performing a series of ridiculous movements, which included shaking his waist and marching in place.

Afterwards, he blinked and rubbed his groin area.

"It really is comfortable."
