My Wife Might Be a Saintess
Chapter 651: This Is Called Temptation
Chapter 651 -650: This Is Called Temptation
「That night.」
Su Qi cuddled in Jiang Zuo’s arms and said, “Let’s pull an all-nighter.”
Jiang Zuo didn’t respond.
‘I should just pretend I’m asleep.’
Then Su Qi looked up at Jiang Zuo. “I thought you were asleep.”
Jiang Zuo didn’t want to take the bait, but he knew that if he kept quiet, Su Qi would steer the conversation wherever she pleased. So, he spoke up, “We can’t even see the moon from here. Should we install a skylight on the roof?”
Su Qi said, “I’ve already looked into it. We still wouldn’t be able to see the moon with a skylight unless we made it bigger. But a big one would make me feel insecure. I’d always feel exposed. That’s no good.
So it’s better just to curl up and sleep.”
Jiang Zuo looked at the ceiling. It was actually quite dark in the room, with just a sliver of moonlight shining in.
Su Qi sat up in front of him. “Aren’t you going to look at me? You can check if I’ve gained any weight.”
Jiang Zuo said, “I just looked. You haven’t. I actually think you’ve lost some.”
Su Qi lay back down, pillowing her head on Jiang Zuo’s arm, and chuckled. “Weren’t you embarrassed today? Seeing the scene from the day you first kissed me.”
“…” Jiang Zuo said, “Let’s not talk about this. We can still be friends if we don’t.”
Su Qi paid him no mind and continued, “Back then, you were dying to get another look at me. Now, you’ve gotten sick of the sight. You won’t even look when I ask you to.”
Jiang Zuo: “…”
‘She’s doing this on purpose. I absolutely can’t fall for it.’
Then Su Qi added, “We’ve only been together for a few years, and it’s already like this. What about in a few decades? Will you not even want to touch me? What am I supposed to do then?”
She even managed to sound pitiful.
Jiang Zuo sighed. “Fine… we’ll pull an all-nighter, okay?”
Su Qi immediately beamed, giggling. “Hee hee, really?”
Jiang Zuo said weakly, “Really.”
Su Qi said regretfully, “But I’m still on my period. We can’t do *that*.”
Jiang Zuo: “…”
‘So, she’s been playing me from the start?’
Then Jiang Zuo said, stunned, “Then just now…”
Su Qi snuggled back into Jiang Zuo’s arms, giggling. “I couldn’t resist rewarding you a little. Okay, time for bed now. Cultivators have strong bodies, so it’s nothing to worry about.”
‘So, for the next day or two, all Su Qi can really do is sleep obediently?’
In the end, Jiang Zuo resignedly held Su Qi, and they went to sleep.
————
First thing the next morning, Su Qi got up and immediately shook Jiang Zuo awake.
Jiang Zuo opened his eyes. “What is it now?”
Wearing a rather short nightgown, Su Qi said, “Hurry, hurry up and pick me up. See if I’ve gotten any lighter.”
Jiang Zuo said helplessly, “Why didn’t you just use a scale last night and then again this morning?”
Su Qi said, “Are you my husband, or is the scale my husband?
What good is it if the scale thinks I’m lighter?
It only counts if you think I’m lighter.”
Jiang Zuo: “…”
‘Her logic is… airtight.’
‘So airtight that I don’t even know how to argue with it.’
“Are you just trying to argue for the sake of arguing?” Jiang Zuo asked.
Su Qi said seriously, “I’m asking you to pick me up.”
Fine. Jiang Zuo had no choice but to get up and lift Su Qi. She wrapped her arms around his neck and asked, “Well? Did I lose any weight?”
Jiang Zuo didn’t just give a perfunctory answer. He hefted her for a moment before saying, “You actually do feel a lot lighter. What have you been doing?”
Su Qi laughed. “It’s because my clothes account for a lot of the weight.”
Jiang Zuo asked, curious, “Cultivation robes can be heavy?”
‘If your clothes are heavy, how can you even fight?’
Su Qi said, “Normal robes are light. But some of the Saintess Corps uniforms are quite heavy.”
Jiang Zuo was curious, “Why?”
“Master Qing Yue says they have to be heavier to reflect the dignity of a Saintess,” Su Qi explained.
Jiang Zuo: “…”
Su Qi then hopped down and sat in front of Jiang Zuo, waiting for him to tie up her hair.
Jiang Zuo had learned a bit about styling hair before, so he wanted to give it a try. But he found that his attempt didn’t look very good, so he undid it and went back to the usual style.
Su Qi asked curiously, “Trying a new style?”
Jiang Zuo nodded. “Yeah, I looked some up beforehand.”
Su Qi asked, “Then why did you change it back?”
Jiang Zuo said, “It didn’t look good.”
“It looked great! Anything you do looks great,” Su Qi said, tilting her head back to look up at him.
Jiang Zuo glanced at her chest. “You’re flashing me.”
Su Qi said nonchalantly, “When I do it for you, it’s not flashing. It’s seduction.”
“Alright, up you get. We’re going out to eat,” Jiang Zuo said, handing Su Qi her clothes, hoping to preempt any further “seduction.”
————
Walking down the streets of Chuanhe Town, Su Qi said in shock, “I just got word that the whole Celestial Star Cave Mansion affair is already over. Isn’t that too fast?
I was only gone for two nights, right?”
Jiang Zuo was unconcerned. “You weren’t going anyway, what’s so surprising?”
Su Qi said, “I was hoping to take you there to see the sights. Guess there’s no hope for that now. I wonder who was behind it.
I heard some powerful person blasted right through the cave mansion.”
‘I’m not saying anything. It wasn’t me this time; I’m not the one who blew it open. Besides, I only made an appearance at the very end. If I hadn’t shown up, the fight probably would have been even more intense.’
Since this had nothing to do with them, Su Qi dropped the subject. “Sweet Potato and the others are still with the Tofu Boss,” she said. “I hope they haven’t been too much trouble for him.”
They couldn’t bring Sweet Potato and the others because they had to rush off for her trial.
So they had left them at the tofu shop.
But when Su Qi arrived at the shop, she was stunned. “What? Sister Jingyue took Sweet Potato and Duan Qiao?”
This was the first piece of news Su Qi received upon arriving at the tofu shop.
Su Qi was surprised, but Jiang Zuo wasn’t concerned. ‘If Sister Jingyue took them, where else could they be?’
‘She must have taken them to tease the Little Turtle.’
Su Qi obviously knew, too. She turned to look at Jiang Zuo.
Jiang Zuo shrugged. “Let’s go after we eat. It’s not like this hasn’t happened before, anyway.”
Su Qi thought for a moment and agreed.
「Meanwhile, at Holy Beast Lake.」
Jingyue sat on a slope, holding a fishing rod.
Beside her was Duan Qiao, also holding a fishing rod.
But their fishing methods were different. One was using Sweet Potato as bait, dangling it in the air over the lake, while the other fished directly in the water.
Jingyue called out, “Elder Xuanwu, we have an agreement! No sneak attacks with your little pet.”
A whale was hiding at the bottom of the lake, as its influence was minimized down there.
Whenever someone she knew came by, it had to hide, or it might accidentally hurt them.
If the Little Whale didn’t stay down there, Jingyue wouldn’t dare approach. The whale was spiritually draining. While there was no immediate mortal danger, having one’s spirit drained was still an awful feeling.
There was no reaction from the depths of the lake to Jingyue’s words.
This was taken as a silent agreement.
Sweet Potato, meanwhile, was trembling in mid-air.
It didn’t understand how it had woken up from a nap only to find itself back here again.
“SQUAWK, SQUAWK?”
It was probably crying for help.
But no one paid it any mind.
Duan Qiao also fished peacefully. This lake was incredible; it felt like it’d be easy to catch something good here.
Jingyue looked at Duan Qiao curiously. “You’re fishing? You’re so small, what if you catch something big?”
Duan Qiao said, “That won’t happen. My power is limited, so I can’t catch anything big.”
