Chapter 58: Pot Shadow (Danzo Takes the Blame)

If he were seventeen, that would’ve been even better.

Thinking about it, Naruto turned his attention towards Orochimaru and said.

"Do you still think you can run away now?"

Naruto was serious about killing Orochimaru here. Not only because this would force Orochimaru to use his curse mark for resurrection.

It would also give Sasuke more stability.

But of course, he knew it wouldn’t be so easy to kill him.

"You really think you can kill me?"

"Hiss!"

As Orochimaru spoke, his voice sounded hurt. It seemed like the pain from having his arms ripped off was affecting him.

Of course, it would. After all, it was the soul connected to his arms.

Naruto didn’t waste any more seconds. He activated his Kyubi Chakra Mode and instantly rushed towards Orochimaru.

At the same time, another snake appeared from the ground and swallowed Orochimaru before turning into smoke.

Naruto’s Rasengan blasted the snake into pieces as it died on the spot. Unfortunately, Orochimaru had already escaped.

"Damn! Why didn’t I sense those snakes earlier?"

Naruto was using Sage Mode earlier. That meant he should’ve perceived everything that was happening around him.

Even if he lost his Sage Mode, it was only after he used that Rasenshuriken.

"It must’ve been Kabuto’s work. He only used Summoning Jutsu after your Sage Mode was released."

"That’s quite a coincidence."

Kurama replied.

Naruto could indeed believe it was a coincidence, but he wouldn’t.

Because Kabuto was no ordinary person. He had been working with Orochimaru, which meant he was familiar with the Nature Energy.

"He must’ve noticed when I ran out of Senjutsu Chakra and used summoning at that exact moment."

"But the fact I wasn’t able to pinpoint his location even using my Sage Mode means he was hiding himself quite well."

Naruto replied as he thought.

’I was so busy with Daimyo and Danzo’s matter that I forgot about Kabuto.’

Somewhere else in the Village;

"So, you are saying Danzo killed two elders and is preparing to take over the position of Hokage?"

Shikaku looked at Hayate with a frown and asked.

"Isn’t Danzo the disciple of the Second Hokage?"

Daimyo turned towards Shikaku and asked.

"No, Hokage! While he was close to the Third Hokage as a teammate and partner, only the Third Hokage and the Elders were the Second Hokage’s disciples."

"The Third Hokage was also the disciple of the First Hokage. He was taught by both."

"Uncle Torifu from the Akimichi, Uchiha Kagami, and Danzo Shimura were Lord Second’s bodyguards."

"That being said, they can be considered his students."

Hearing that, Daimyo’s expression turned cold as he looked at Hayate and asked.

"Did you just say Danzo killed the elders because he was sure they wouldn’t choose him but Hiruzen’s students?"

"Do you acknowledge this statement?"

Hayate nodded his head.

"Lord, Mr. Inochi can read my mind if you need any proof. I was lucky enough to survive the attack from Maki, but I do not remember what happened afterward."

"I just happened to wake up earlier and noticed the presence of Roots, so I used Transparent Escape Technique to hide myself."

"I would’ve been exposed if not for Naruto Uzumaki enhancing my Jutsu by transmitting the power of the Nine Tails into my body."

Hearing that, Shikaku nodded.

"Naruto has done this before with Hiashi’s daughter."

"It seems like Konoha has produced an excellent ninja and a disgusting ninja at the same time."

"Hiruzen is fighting for his life, and instead of helping him, Danzo is killing his own people."

"This can’t be forgiven."

"Yes, it can’t be forgiven."

Another voice rang from the window as another presence made itself appear in front of them.

"Lord Jiraiya!"

"Jiraiya!"

Daimyo frowned and said.

"Konoha is being attacked, but I didn’t see your presence. Where did you go?"

At this moment, Jiraiya embarrassed rubbed his head.

"I missed it, huh?"

He made a serious face immediately and said.

"I have been moving around the borders of Konoha to find the presence of Akatsuki."

"Lord Daimyo, you might not be aware of them, but they are an elite group of criminals who have all betrayed the village."

"Orochimaru of the Leaf, Itachi Uchiha of the Leaf, Kisame Hoshigaki of the Mist, Deidara of the Stone, and Sasori of the Sand."

"They are all a part of this organization. Although it is known that Orochimaru had betrayed this organization, I had to be cautious about their presence."

Hearing his words, Shikaku frowned while the Daimyo scolded him.

"Even if that’s the case, couldn’t you see the presence of those snakes? You could’ve at least made your presence during the attack."

Daimyo normally didn’t need to care about this, but he had to make his presence known.

After all, Konoha was his military force. They were in a symbiotic relationship.

The more might that Konoha showed, the better his country would be.

"Hahaha! That’s because I believed in Naruto’s strength. I’ve seen his training. If I have to say, he has surpassed me and Minato in strength."

Jiraiya praised Naruto without any hesitation.

Not to mention the Sage Mode, his Kyubi Chakra Mode was almost enough to fight Jiraiya on equal ground.

Even if Jiraiya used Sage Mode. That’s because Naruto was currently stronger than the time he returned to the village in the original timeline.

"I see!"

Daimyo looked pleased at this. With such strength, Konoha didn’t need to fear any war.

"Since the elders are dead and you didn’t contribute much in this war or in the Nine-Tails attack, I will choose Naruto to be the Fifth Hokage."

Hearing his words, Jiraiya’s expression drastically changed.

"Fifth Hokage? Is that right? Lord Daimyo, he is just a child."

"A child with the mind of an adult. More importantly, you have rejected the role of the Hokage before, and Tsunade is not here."

"Danzo is a criminal, while Kakashi hasn’t shown any feat that can define him as a Kage. Regardless of his situation, Naruto Uzumaki shall become the Fifth Hokage of the Leaf."
