Chapter 60: Choosing the Hokage

Naruto said, instinctively holding his T-shirt. But he froze and quickly ran to his room.

He almost forgot he wasn’t married to Hinata.

Hinata also froze, never expecting Naruto to be so bold. Her face flushed red as she lowered her head.

But soon, she ran to his kitchen and started preparing food.

During the month when he was training, Naruto had stocked up on a lot of food, including meat, vegetables, eggs, and other things.

So, it wasn’t just ramen that he had.

Hinata had learned to cook quite early. So, she immediately put on an apron and started working on the dishes.

She decided to make him a chicken katsu with curry rice.

While she was preparing food, a lot of other things were happening in the village.

Most importantly, Daimyo was holding a meeting with other Jonin, including Jiraiya the Sannin.

His presence was quite a surprise to other Jonin since he didn’t do much in the battle, but they didn’t mind that.

Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru had a strong reputation in the village, especially for the older generation.

While Orochimaru was a traitor, it didn’t mean people would forget his contribution to the village during the Second and Third Great Ninja Wars.

That’s the reason why, despite not being in the village for over a decade, Tsunade was able to return and take the role of the Hokage immediately.

There was literally no opposing voice against her.

Of course, if Naruto had only shown the power, he wouldn’t have been considered a Hokage by the Daimyo.

Daimyo’s first choice would’ve been Jiraiya and Tsunade. Danzo would’ve been a choice if not for that incident.

But since Naruto had not only shown power surpassing that of a Kage but also the knowledge of the Fourth Hokage, he immediately fell into the spotlight.

For Daimyo, he normally wouldn’t care about the village leader.

They would only need his permission to become Hokage, not the permission to choose.

But with the elders dead and Danzo being the culprit, Daimyo had to step up and choose the Hokage for them.

This knowledge was only limited to Shikaku, Inochi, Choza, ministers, and Jiraiya.

So, other Jonin were still clueless about this situation.

As soon as the meeting started, Daimyo spoke.

"Hmm! The situation has become clear. The Third Hokage has sacrificed his life to severely injure Orochimaru."

"We still need Naruto to understand what happened afterward, but considering how he supported the entire war by himself, he needs some rest."

This wasn’t something he knew. He thought if Naruto wasn’t injured, he could immediately bring Naruto to the meeting.

But on the way, Kakashi arrived and told him about Naruto’s situation, and Jiraiya also explained it in detail.

While Nine-Tails Chakra no longer harmed Naruto, Chakra had weight. Nine-Tails, being the strongest Tailed Beast, had even stronger Chakra.

Despite his training, Naruto didn’t have the power to use this Chakra for a long period of time without getting exhausted.

Of course, he was able to handle this because Sage Mode increased his endurance.

Jiraiya personally understood this and explained the situation to the Daimyo.

So, the Daimyo allowed Naruto to rest while he called for a meeting.

"First, we will handle the funeral of the Third Hokage and the Elders."

"What? Elders?"

"What happened to them?"

"We didn’t see them during the battle. How were they sacrificed?"

The Jonin started conversing with each other, but being ninjas, their voices were very low. It almost sounded like a buzzing mosquito.

"Alright, alright, this situation is very critical. So, we need to immediately start the Third Hokage’s funeral and choose the Fifth Hokage."

When he said that, everyone’s eyes instantly fell towards Jiraiya.

Jiraiya chuckled.

"I am happy that you think I can still be a Hokage, but in all honesty, I’ve already rejected this position before, and I am no different now."

"That being said, with the death of the elders, I will be taking the role of the Elder alongside Tsunade after I bring her back."

His words brought a strong confidence to their heart but the confusion still lasted in their heads.

"Lord Jiraiya, if you and Lady Tsunade are not going to be the Hokage, who will?"

Kakashi voiced his concern.

At this moment, Daimyo raised his head.

"Of course, it will be Naruto Uzumaki."

There was a deep silence in the room.

"This is YOUTH."

Might Guy raised both of his hands with tears streaming down his cheeks as he shouted.

"Naruto accomplished his dream at such an early age."

His words made the other Jonin speechless.

Yes, it was Naruto’s dream.

But can we not ignore his age?

The boy is only twelve.

Twelve years old!

Daimyo continued.

"This is my personal decision. And it is a right decision because there have been some misconceptions about Naruto’s identity and his current situation."

"Shikaku, you explain!"

Hearing his words, Shikaku nodded and stepped forward.

"Naruto Uzumaki is the child of Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage, and Kushina Uzumaki, the previous Jinchuriki."

"The Fourth Hokage sealed the Nine-Tails inside of Naruto to preserve the balance of the villages."

"Though he also did something more for the village. He also sealed his own memories into the seal that was holding back the Nine-Tails."

"During the Forest of Death trial, Naruto was attacked by Orochimaru, who did something to the seal, which released the original seal."

"But it turned out the Fourth Hokage and his wife were already prepared for this. They managed to defeat the Nine-Tails inside the seal and take its Chakra."

"So, Nine-Tails’ chakra and Minato’s memories were transferred to Naruto. There are a lot more details to the situation, but this is the gist of it."

Daimyo nodded and spoke.

"So, I believe with Minato’s memories and his strength, Naruto will be able to lead the village properly."

"But considering Naruto’s age, Jiraiya and Tsunade will become the elders who will also play the role of advisors."

At this moment, Hiashi Hyuga couldn’t help but notice something.

(A/N- Considering how Konohamaru was able to become the Ninth Hokage in the Ten Paths future, I believe Daimyo has the power to choose Hokage.)
