Chapter 62: Shikaku’s Thoughts

"So, are we just going to stay here and do nothing, let him control me and rule over Konoha?"

Daimyo asked.

"No, Lord Daimyo! Instead of that, let’s see if Naruto is ready to fight. Then, we will call Danzo into the office to discuss the position of Hokage."

"Let Naruto raid the Root Headquarters and capture his army. Then, we can force Danzo to reveal the truth."

"If he has ended up killing the elders, he won’t let anyone read his memories."

"If he hasn’t, then he has no choice but to let others read his memories regardless of all the bad stuff he has done."

"After all, he is still the Elder of the Village. Everything he has done is during the rule of the Third Hokage."

"Besides, we can’t be sure if someone has used Transformation to attack the elders."

Hearing that, Inochi asked.

"I still think it is Danzo. His most powerful Jutsu are all Wind Release. I have seen that during the Third Great Ninja War."

"All of the Jutsu he used against them perfectly match."

Shikaku shook his head.

"We can’t let anyone deceive us. Lord Daimyo, Ninjas are capable of doing something far beyond just simple Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, and Taijutsu."

"Minato himself was able to seal all of his memories and transfer them into Naruto. So we can’t take action until we find the truth."

Hearing that, Daimyo paused for a moment and nodded.

"Yes, we can do that, but my decision about the Hokage will not change."

"Do not worry, Lord Daimyo! We only need to hold this information for a few hours."

Shikaku said.

"Let’s start with Hiruzen’s funeral then!"

Daimyo nodded, and soon, everyone left.

Among everyone else, one of the Ninja immediately ran towards the Root Headquarters.

The Headquarters of the Root was below Konoha Village, heavily guarded by an anti-sensory barrier that not even Byakugan could pierce.

This barrier was the reason why, despite Hinata being close to Obito never saw his face.

But just when this Jonin was about to enter the Roots, his body instantly froze.

At the same time, Jiraiya removed his upper clothes, covered his fingers in five elemental Chakra, and slammed them into his stomach. ℯℯ𝑙.

"You could say Danzo is evil and outrageous, but you can’t say he is a fool. Otherwise he wouldn’t have been bidding his time for so long."

"Before Minato’s death, Danzo was very controlled. Even while recruiting the shinobi for the roots, he generally focused on the orphans."

"It was only after the death of Minato that he started expanding his forces rapidly. After the Uchiha incident, he lost his role as an Assistant Hokage."

Shikaku shook his head.

"Let Kakashi return! If Naruto is up for a battle, we will do our best. If not, we can only let the younger generation get stronger."

"Danzo’s roots are among the most elite forces. If we clash with them, without Naruto, we will lose a lot of our people."

"Considering we just lost our Hokage, the other villages might prepare for a war. Lord Jiraiya, we have to be careful with our moves."

"Our forces are weak, stretched thin, and we also have internal problems. Under such circumstances, one wrong move and the village will suffer immeasurably."

Hearing his words, Jiraiya sighed.

"Alright, I just hope we can take care of this problem. I never thought Old Man would raise such a parasite in his village."

Shikaku rolled his eyes.

’Isn’t it because you didn’t take the role of the Hokage? Then again, even if he did take the role, he wouldn’t have done anything.’

He shook his head.

Shikaku didn’t like Jiraiya that much. As a Kage-level shinobi and a good person, Jiraiya was a great ninja for the village.

But he wouldn’t be a good Hokage. A man who couldn’t even return to the village after the death of his student was just an irresponsible man.

Instead of running around, Jiraiya should’ve returned and taken the role of the Hokage.

At least, this would’ve prevented a lot of tragedy, including the destruction of the Uchiha Clan.

Jiraiya would never allow Itachi to kill the ordinary people of that clan.

Unfortunately, Jiraiya was too cowardly and irresponsible to take the role of the Hokage.

That’s also why Shikaku didn’t voice against Daimyo’s decision to make Naruto the Hokage.
