Chapter 601 - 420: Better to Reign in Hell, Than Serve in Heaven
Sunlight generously blanketed the boundless sea. The surface shimmered as if countless flecks of gold were dancing upon it, a stark contrast to the azure horizon, painting a serene and magnificent picture.
But this seemingly peaceful atmosphere was completely upended in an instant.
A mysterious figure, wreathed in the evil power of darkness, descended with a thunderous roar, like a malevolent wave surging from the abyss.
The Dark Power spread with the force of a landslide, like a boundless black curtain swiftly enveloping both sky and sea.
In a flash, the day was violently dragged into night as if by an unseen giant hand. A terrifying aura, like a frigid tide, instantly submerged everyone.
The once-turbulent sea fell instantly silent, as if stunned by terror.
Its surface became as placid as a jet-black mirror, reflecting the increasingly oppressive, dark firmament without a single ripple. It was as if the sea itself was trembling in fear before this evil power, too scared to make a sound.
Xiao Yu, Nanting Snow, Lin Zuoguang, and Gao Liceng—
—all four of them, having just exhausted their strength in a fierce battle with the Knights of Light, now watched this sudden turn of events with wary eyes, their bodies wracked with fatigue and pain.
Their clothes were tattered and stained with blood. Seawater continuously washed over their wounds, bringing sharp stabs of pain, but the confusion and fear in their hearts far overshadowed any physical agony.
They didn’t know who this mysterious person was, nor why he had appeared at such a critical moment, bringing with him a darkness so chilling it terrified them to the bone.
The mysterious man’s figure slowly emerged from the darkness, like a Demon stepping out of the Hell Abyss.
He had a tall, slender frame, and was enveloped in a dense dark aura that roiled as if it were tangible, constantly seeming to devour the surrounding light.
He wore a black hood, the shadow of which obscured most of his face. Only a pair of eyes glowing with a ghastly green light could be faintly seen, like two will-o’-the-wisps flickering with an eerie, cold light in the dark.
The three Knights of Light from the Bright Holy See, their bodies already slightly weary from battle, abruptly stiffened the moment they saw the mysterious man.
Their eyes bulged, nearly popping from their sockets, and the expressions on their faces froze as if they had been struck by an Immobilization Spell.
One of the knights, his lips trembling violently and uncontrollably, seemed to use all the strength in his body to squeeze two words through his gritted teeth: "Dark... Lucifer!"
His voice was filled with terror and despair, as if merely speaking the name would bring about utter annihilation.
The cry rang in everyone’s ears like a clap of thunder.
Xiao Yu’s brow instantly knotted. A flash of alarm crossed his eyes, but he quickly forced it down, replacing it with a look of grim resolve.
He subconsciously clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white from the force. The veins on his arms bulged like worms as he slightly lowered his body into a fighting stance.
Although he was terrified of this unknown, powerful enemy, his ingrained stubbornness and unyielding nature would not allow him to show weakness so easily.
The color instantly drained from Nanting Snow’s face, leaving it as white as a sheet of paper.
Her lips trembled slightly, as if she wanted to say something but fear had caught in her throat.
She gripped her weapon so tightly that her knuckles turned a pale white, and cold sweat seeped from between her fingers.
A flicker of panic crossed her eyes but was quickly replaced by a steely determination. Even as a woman in this moment of extreme danger, she forced herself to remain calm, unwilling to show the slightest bit of cowardice before the enemy.
Lin Zuoguang’s forehead was beaded with sweat. Large drops rolled incessantly down his cheeks, collected at his chin, and dripped into the sea below.
His eyes were filled with alarm and anxiety,
and his hands trembled uncontrollably at his sides, like leaves in the wind.
"Dark Lucifer?
’I’ve read that name in a book.
’God created the world, and all things were to submit to Him.
’The Angels gathered around God in Heaven, receiving His decrees and carrying them out, assisting Him in governing the world and singing praises of His merit.
’Lucifer was once one of the Six-winged Blazing Angels before God’s throne, the most beautiful and noble of all Angels,
’assisting God, praising Him, and remaining by His side, day after day, year after year.
’There was no dissent, no doubt, no war.
’One day, as God looked upon this perfect order, He decided to create a new, unique being. And so, in His own image, He created the Ancestor of mankind—Adam—and placed him in the Eden Garden to live freely.
’God then brought Adam to the Divine Hall, named him the Messiah, and summoned all the Angels, demanding they bow and kneel to Adam, to honor and respect him.
’Michael and the other Angels, with their supreme faith in God, respectfully obeyed the decree and did as they were told.
’But Lucifer hesitated. The Angels already had no freedom; they could not also lose their dignity and pride.
’Faced with Michael’s well-intentioned advice,
’Lucifer politely refused: "I have served God for millions of years. In terms of merit, I am above Adam.
’"I am a Six-winged Blazing Angel, my station second only to God. In terms of status, I am above Adam.
’"I am fire from fire. In terms of origin, I am above Adam.
’"I wield peerless power. In terms of strength, I am above Adam... Why should I bow to him?"’
Before Adam, Lucifer flatly refused to bow his head and bend the knee,
and the Angels behind him also refused to kneel before Adam.
’Faced with his rebellious son, God issued another decree, hoping Lucifer would obey the command.’
