Chapter 602 - 420: Better to Reign in Hell, Than Serve in Heaven (Part 2)

In the face of God’s authority, Lucifer still defied His command.

He could not cast aside his pride, nor could he forsake the dignity of an Angel. He could not stop himself from envying Adam, a child favored by God for no apparent reason.

More importantly, he craved the right to make his own choices, longed for a taste of freedom, and above all, he could not bear to see his brothers and sisters kneel before a mere human.

Once he disobeyed, there was no turning back.

Millennia of reverence and love for God were washed away. A storm of emotions churned within Lucifer.

He ultimately renounced his faith in God. Leading the Angels under his command to the Ninefold Heaven, he raised his head to look God in the eye. He banished his trepidation and fear, straightened his spine, unfurled the great wings at his back, and declared war.

God commanded the Archangel Michael to lead the Angel Corps into battle. Gabriel sounded the war horn. Angels who were once as close as brothers turned their blades on one another, slaughtering each other.

In the end, Angels were no match for God. Lucifer was defeated. God created Hell, casting him and his followers down from Heaven and into its depths.

Before his fall, he spoke the words that shook Heaven and earth: "Better to reign in Hell, than serve in Heaven."

...said Lin Zuoguang.

He was acutely aware of the enemy’s power. His mind raced, desperately searching for a countermeasure, but his thoughts were a tangled mess. Every idea that surfaced was like a fragile bubble, instantly popped by his overwhelming fear.

Even so, a flicker of defiance remained hidden in the depths of his eyes—the raw desire to survive, an unwillingness to bow to his fate.

’Any being involved with Deities is bound to be extraordinary,’ she thought. ’I just don’t know why he has descended here.’

Gao Liceng’s body, fused as one with the Yellow Paper, trembled slightly. The talismans seemed to sense their master’s terror, fluttering restlessly around her with a soft, rustling sound.

Her gaze was locked on Lucifer, her eyes glinting with a complex mix of fear, and a burning curiosity to understand this unknown entity.

As for the three Knights of Light, after crying out Lucifer’s name, their bodies began to shake violently, like sieves.

They were well aware of Lucifer’s infamy. In the ancient texts of the Bright Holy See, Lucifer was the incarnation of darkness, the most powerful enemy of the light, and the ultimate nightmare for all Light Believers.

Their eyes filled with terror and despair, but as Knights of the Bright Holy See, their faith was an iron pillar supporting their will.

Though their legs felt weak, they still straightened their chests, mustering their last ounce of courage to face this terrifying foe.

"Lucifer has an aura that naturally inspires fear," one of the Knights of Light said.

At that moment, a smug smile slowly curled the lips of Lucifer, the master of Dark Power.

In the gloom, his smile looked particularly sinister, as if mocking all of creation with utter contempt.

He slowly raised a hand. It was wreathed in Dark Energy, radiating a heart-stopping aura, as if a single, casual wave could annihilate all of existence.

His cold gaze swept over the three Knights of Light, his eyes filled with disdain, as if they were nothing more than insignificant ants.

Then, with sudden ferocity, Lucifer struck at the three Knights of Light.

His movements seemed casual, yet they held world-destroying power.

A beam of black light, like a roaring black dragon, shot from his hand. It let out a piercing shriek as it lunged toward the Knights of Light with the force of a thunderbolt.

Wherever the black light passed, space itself was warped by an unseen, giant hand. It emitted a grating SIZZLE, as if reality itself was about to shatter under the strain.

Seeing this, the faces of the three Knights of Light instantly turned ashen.

They knew there was no escape; their lives now hung by a thread.

The three of them exchanged a swift glance, their eyes communicating their grim resolve. Without hesitation, they unleashed the Bright Holy See’s most powerful Secret Technique.

In an instant, their Silver Long Spears erupted in a dazzling radiance. The light was like the rising sun, attempting to banish the encroaching darkness and illuminate the gloom-shrouded sea.

The light expanded rapidly, forming a massive barrier that emanated a sacred aura, enveloping the three of them in its protection.

Runes flickered across the barrier’s surface, pulsing with powerful energy in a final act of defiance against the Dark Power.

However, before Lucifer, this seemingly indestructible defense was as fragile as a soap bubble.

A corner of Lucifer’s mouth merely twitched upward into a contemptuous sneer, and then he gave a casual wave of his hand.

The dragon-like beam of black light instantly accelerated, and like a sharp blade, it effortlessly tore the barrier apart.

The moment the dark light touched it, the barrier emitted a sharp CRACK, like shattering glass. Countless shards of light flew in all directions, vanishing into the darkness an instant later.

Under the corrosion of darkness, the brilliant radiance dimmed as quickly as a guttering candle flame.

Fine cracks began to appear on the Silver Long Spears held by the Knights of Light.

CRACK! CRACK!

The cracks spread rapidly. In the blink of an eye, the spears snapped into several pieces, the fragments falling into the sea,

making PLOP, PLOP sounds.

Having lost their weapons, the Knights of Light wore expressions of utter despair. Their eyes were filled with helplessness and indignant frustration.

As for their white steeds, fully clad in silver armor, they met with a cataclysmic fate under the impact of the Dark Power.

Before this immense Dark Power, the once-mighty steeds were as fragile as ants.
