Endless Leveling Done Right! - Chapter 614: The New History Professor

Chapter 614: The New History Professor
“Man… you should have helped me back there,” Chuck complained as he and Alex walked towards their history classroom.
“It didn’t look like you needed help,” Alex replied. “I mean… you seem to be even enjoying it.”
“… Are you blind?”
“Whenever convenient? Yeah.”
Chuck rolled his eyes but held his tongue. It wasn’t worth it. His roommate had no idea how to deal with women… with whips.
However, he made up his mind to punish Mary later and show her who was boss!
When they entered the classroom, they were surprised to find no one standing at the podium.
Usually, Professor Arabella arrived before any of her students. Everyone found it odd when they didn’t see her, but they simply thought she might be a bit busy today.
They were expecting that she’d only be a little late. However, there was still no sign of the professor after twenty minutes. This had never happened before, so they were feeling a little concerned about their homeroom teacher.
Just as the students started wondering what was going on, the Headmaster showed up, instantly silencing everyone.
“I have good news and bad news for all of you,” Professor Rowan said. “The good news is that Professor Arabella is pregnant.”
“Huh?!”
“What?!”
“Professor Arabella?!”
“Congratulations, Chuck!”
“”Congratulations!””
“O-Oi! Why are you all looking at me?!” Chuck cried out. “I didn’t do anything!”
The troublemaker was at a complete loss. Why was everyone congratulating him for something he didn’t do?!
Even Alex joined in the fun and teased his roommate.
“Okay, let’s all stop putting Mr. Norris on the spot.” Professor Rowan chuckled. “Since Professor Arabella isn’t feeling well, she has decided to take a break. Fortunately, we have a substitute Professor.”
The classroom door opened once again, and a beautiful lady approached the podium to stand beside Professor Rowan.
Alex’s eyes widened in shock. Wasn’t that Francesca?
“Wow!” Chuck gasped. “What a beauty!”
Chuck wasn’t the only one to straighten his spine at the sight of their new history professor. Every other guy, except for Alex, looked at the Dryad with admiration, momentarily forgetting their beloved Professor Arabella.
“Hello, everyone. My name is Francesca,” Francesca introduced herself. “I am Professor Arabella’s substitute. I’ll be teaching you for the time being. Pleased to make your acquaintance.”
“Professor!” Chuck immediately raised his hand. “Are you single?!”
All the guys in the classroom gave Chuck a thumbs-up in their heart. They were all curious, but they had more shame than Chuck.
“I’m sorry, but I’m already taken,” Francesca replied. “My partner is a very fine young man, and he treats me well.”
Chuck and the other young men clicked their tongues at the same time, prompting the girls to look at them in disdain.
Alex only smirked, knowing the secret story about Francesca’s lover.
Of course, he wasn’t the only one.
Fran and Latifa were also in this class. The Dryad even winked at her sister-in-law, eliciting a slight smile from Fran.
“Well, then. I’ll leave the rest to you, Professor Francesca,” Professor Rowan said. “Everyone, watch your behavior. Don’t scare our new Professor away, okay?”
After the students promised to behave, the Headmaster nodded his head in satisfaction and left.
Francesca picked up the name list and started the roll call.
Her memory was outstanding. With a single look, she had all the names of her students memorized.
“Alright. Since it’s our first day together, how about we talk about ourselves a little?” Professor Francesca proposed. “I’ll start. Before coming to the academy, I lived in the Shadow Forest, which borders the Kingdoms of Solara and Faelarun.
“I thought I’d live there all my life, but my fated one suddenly appeared and swept me off my feet. He took me with him when he left, and here I am.”
“Oh my! How romantic!” One of the ladies sighed. “Is he a prince riding a white horse, Professor?”
“How did you know?!” Professor Francesca smiled at the young lady. “He didn’t come with a white horse, but he was very prince-like. When I first saw him, it was love at first sight!”
“Lucky bastard,” Chuck cursed bitterly. “I hope he grows a wart on his nose. A big one. The kind that grows a lot of hair and makes his nose bulbous. I hope he—”
A chill went up the troublemaker’s spine. He looked around frantically to see who was responsible.
“Um? Why are you glaring at me Fran? Did I do something to you?!”
Alex had to use every ounce of his strength to prevent himself from laughing out loud. Of course, Fran wouldn’t tolerate someone cursing her brother, especially when he had done nothing wrong at all!
With her superhuman senses, Francesca also heard what Chuck said. She smiled at the pitiful troublemaker, who dared to return the smile. Vain as usual, he assumed the Professor was admiring his good looks.
He had no idea what hell he would go through thanks to his careless words.
Alex still considered Chuck as a friend, so he fought the urge to laugh.
No one had introduced themself after Francesca. To distract her from raging at his friend, he took the initiative to tell the class a little about himself.
“When I first arrived in Arcana… I mean, when I first saw the Floating Islands of Thaloria, I felt extremely happy,” Alex said suddenly. “It felt like I was about to start a brand new adventure, meet new people, and see different places. That’s also where I met my good friend, Dim Dim.”
As if on cue, a knock came from the window. When everyone turned to look, some of them couldn’t help but smile.
Dim Dim was cutely knocking on the window because it wanted to enter the classroom.
Poppy and Dewdrop were nowhere around the little bun. They had chosen to stay with the Fairies in the musical department a little longer, eager to hear more about academy life.
One of the ladies close to the window let Dim Dim in, earning a thank you in return. The little bun jumped from table to table until it finally landed on Alex’s head.
Alex patted the little bun, which made the latter close its eyes in comfort.
“Since then, Dim Dim and I have been inseparable,” Alex continued his tale. “And I hope we will remain together for many more years to come.”
“Dim Dim~” The little bun also expressed its desire to be with Alex, making the hearts of the ladies melt.
Chuck then stood up to tell his own story. But just as everyone expected, it was full of half-truths and exaggeration.
Then suddenly, it was Evangeline’s turn to say something.
“When I was ten, I met a prince who lived in a villa near my home,” Evangeline said with a beet-red face. “We played a lot together, and he even promised to marry me when we grew up. Unfortunately, we got separated, and I spent years searching for him.
“Fortunately, the Gods heard my prayer and reunited us once more. Now that I’ve found him, I would never let him go even if he were to run to the edge of the world.”
Her words warmed Alex’s heart. He wanted to tell Evangeline that he would never leave her. But for the sake of his peace, he decided to not say anything.
Then, it was Vaan’s turn.
’She’ stood up, walked toward Alex, and clung onto his arm. The ladies squealed, prompting Professor Francesca to arch an eyebrow.
“And we lived happily ever after. The end,” Vaan said.
However, ’her’ words made the ladies squeal and clap their hands. It didn’t matter that Vaan had not given a story at all. Their overactive imagination was more than happy to fill in the gaps of this fairytale!
Lavinia, Evangeline, Fran, and Latifa could only smile wryly. After all, they knew the truth about Alex’s and Vaan’s relationship.
However, they had no intentions to clear up the misunderstandings. There’s no harm in letting their classmates fantasize about this so-called match made in heaven. There’s also no harm in keeping Alex on his toes as every guy in the classroom glared at him.
Francesca’s first day as a Professor ended well. Everyone had a good impression of her.
Although Alex wasn’t aware of what sort of arrangement the Dryads and the Headmaster had come to agree on, seeing them adapt to their new environment put his heart at ease.
