Chapter 308: Chapter 308: The Trial Ends, The Rewards
“Hmph, weak human. Your choice is clear. If you keep this up, you’ll just keep getting hurt. The only way out is to… give up,” the giant centipede sneered mockingly.
But the moment he saw Aiden slowly raising his right hand, made entirely of red energy, his mouth snapped shut.
A terrifying surge of energy suddenly erupted from Aiden’s open palm. However, it only appeared for a split second before vanishing completely.
Aiden’s left eye flickered rapidly, a flash of excitement crossing his gaze.
[Failed to comprehend the Force of Laws. Spirit +5]
[Failed to comprehend the Force of Laws. Spirit +5]
…
[You have sensed a faint trace of the Force of Slaughter.]
[Slaughter Force of Laws comprehension: 1.003%]
“It really works,” Aiden thought, his mind racing. “I knew that red energy was similar to the Dark Force of Laws I comprehended before. It’s energy infused with a faint Force of Laws!”
He had intentionally lowered his guard, letting the giant centipede in the sky wound him repeatedly. This was to better sense the faint Force of Laws hidden within the red energy.
Perhaps it was because this was the trial of the Fallen Soldiers with Killing Intent, or maybe the Slaughter Force of Laws within the red energy was simply too weak, but Aiden’s comprehension this time was far from as strong as his previous grasp of the Dark Force of Laws.
“But it should be enough,” Aiden said to himself. He took a deep breath and slowly spread his arms, which were made of red energy, as if embracing something.
In the next instant, the massive red energy sphere in the sky, along with the hundreds of broken weapons of Killing Intent, swooped down toward Aiden’s feet like soldiers obeying a general’s command.
“It’s over.”Suddenly, a blinding red light burst from Aiden’s body.
Then, he instantly returned to his normal appearance.
To the shocked disbelief of Graham, Cassian, and the other talented competitors, Aiden simply raised one finger and pointed at the giant centipede in the sky.
In a flash, the hundreds of broken weapons flew toward the giant centipede like warriors charging into a frenzied battle.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Though these broken weapons were damaged, the terrifying killing intent they carried pierced through the giant centipede’s black carapace as easily as tearing through white paper.
The hundreds of weapons turned the giant centipede into a sieve.
A torrent of red blood rained down from the sky like a storm.
A deafening wail erupted as the giant centipede crashed heavily from the sky.
Aiden turned slowly, his face expressionless, and looked toward the geniuses outside the trial, as well as Graham and Cassian. He spoke coldly,
“It took quite some time, but now it’s over.”
As soon as he finished, the trial shook violently. The broken weapons of Killing Intent flew rapidly to Aiden’s feet, forming a staircase that extended all the way to his physical body outside the trial.
It was exactly like soldiers rushing to greet a general returning in triumph!
Soon, the entire trial slowly dissolved until everything returned to normal.
Aiden snapped his eyes open and instinctively glanced around. Only after confirming everything was normal did he look at the broken weapons still floating in the air.
The weapons vibrated in unison, and ghostly human figures appeared instantly.
Standing at the very front of these spectral soldiers was the general who had died earlier.
However, his eyes were dull and lifeless, his expression completely blank.
Next, all the spectral figures bowed slowly, saluting Aiden in unison.
In front of Aiden, a red seed and a ball of red light materialized out of thin air.
[Killing Intent Seed: Mythic Rank, Special Item. Formed from the Broken Soldiers at the border of the Golden Great Wall and the Abyss. It contains terrifying killing intent and a faint Slaughter Force of Laws. Long-term holding will increase soul strength. Once your soul strength reaches a certain level, you can use this item to comprehend the Slaughter Force of Laws.
Additionally, when the holder’s heart is filled with intense killing intent, the Killing Intent Seed enters a “Pending Activation” state. By consuming a small amount of mana, the holder can fully activate it to gain a temporary Killing Domain. Within the domain, every enemy killed grants the holder 20% of that enemy’s four stats, stacking up to a maximum of 10 times. The effect lasts for 30 minutes and can be used only once every three days.]
[Endorsement of the Broken Soldiers: Legendary Rank, Special Item. Obtainable only after completing the Strongest Killing Intent’s Fallen Soldiers trial. Once absorbed, you will gain the Killing Sense skill (Legendary Rank) and a permanent boost to physical strength, allowing you to absorb more killing intent. In battlefield environments, your movement speed increases by 10%, Omni-Drain increases by 10%, and your Health and Mana regeneration speed increases by 10%.]
As Aiden read the specific details of the red ball and the red seed, his breathing suddenly became heavy.
Both of these items were incredibly useful to him!
Aiden didn’t hesitate for a second. He immediately stored away the Killing Intent Seed and the Endorsement of the Broken Soldiers.
Currently, his comprehension of the Slaughter Force of Laws was only at 1.003%. He knew he would definitely need the Killing Intent Seed in the future.
As for soul strength, Aiden had plenty of experience points and the skill Apprentice’s Heart. What was hard for others to improve was a breeze for him; it wasn’t a problem at all.
Regarding the Endorsement of the Broken Soldiers, that Legendary Rank skill, Killing Sense, sounded incredibly useful just from its name.
At the very least, he wouldn’t have to worry about getting ambushed later on.
If the skill was even a bit stronger, he could detect the stealth abilities of Assassin-type Reclasser players long before they attacked him.
“I can absorb more killing intent… Ancient Battlefield? After I complete the Bane of All Races 2 Genius Nightmare mission, I can get a Teleportation Scroll to the Ancient Battlefield,” Aiden thought to himself.
The Ancient Battlefield was a great place. He remembered that the Dawn Society went to the Great Shaw Empire specifically to get fragments of a Sacred Artifact that would allow Reclassers to enter that region.
Back then, Arthur had mentioned that there were fragments of Laws and fragments of the Soul inside.
Fragments of the Soul could boost a Reclasser’s soul strength, while fragments of the Laws helped them comprehend Force of Laws, allowing them to become divine powerhouses.
However, within the Ancient Battlefield, besides the terrifying killing intent, there was also malignant aura.
“If only there were some way to resist the malignant aura. Things like Sacred Artifact fragments are simply beyond my reach right now.” Aiden sighed.
But soon, he cheered up. After all, this trial had yielded an unexpected bonus.
A Mythic Rank Killing Intent Seed was a huge win. With one powerful effect, it could grant massive boosts to the four stats if used correctly.
Even though the boost was temporary, it was already excellent. After all, the stronger the enemies you kill, the more temporary stats you gain.
Lost in thought, Aiden completely failed to notice the stunned expressions of the geniuses around him, as well as Cassian and Graham.
It wasn’t until Graham took a few deep breaths and managed to regain his composure that he slowly walked over. Only then did Aiden slowly lift his head to look at him.
“Congratulations,” Graham said directly. “I didn’t expect you to actually pass the Strongest Killing Intent’s Fallen Soldiers trial.”
“Yeah, Captain, you’re amazing,” Victor said, his expression light and a wide grin spreading across his face. “They said only Bella, The Flame God Ignis, and this guy named Kenneth have passed this trial. You’re the fourth!”
Hearing this, Aiden paused in surprise. He had seen Bella’s Radiant Blade clone before, and The Flame God Ignis was Cassian’s teacher.
Kenneth?
Who was that divine powerhouse?
Graham noticed the confusion on Aiden’s face. His eyes narrowed into a smile as he explained, “Kenneth is my teacher. He masters both the Strength Force of Laws and the Slaughter Force of Laws.”
Aiden glanced at Graham a bit longer. Even though both were students of divine powerhouses, Cassian just didn’t compare to Graham at all.
Thinking of Cassian, Aiden slowly turned his gaze toward him.
The moment their eyes met in the air, Cassian immediately remembered Aiden’s fierce killing. Instinctively, he lowered his head.
“Damn it, I just passed the Strongest Killing Intent’s Fallen Soldiers trial,” Cassian muttered to himself, quickly raising his head again. “It was probably just pure luck!”
He was furious and humiliated. As a student of The Flame God Ignis, how could he possibly lower his head before Aiden?
That had never happened before!
Of course, Aiden’s gaze had been incredibly oppressive, causing a moment of panic.
Graham heard Cassian’s whisper and rolled his eyes, his look filled with disdain. Sometimes, refusing to admit someone is stronger is just a form of cowardice.
“By the way, Aiden,” Graham said, “I heard your class is Magic Apprentice, but your fighting style just now showed huge potential to be an excellent warrior.”
He sighed softly. “It’s a bit of a pity, though. Once we get to the Golden Great Wall, I’ll try to recommend you to my teacher. If he has time to guide you, your combat skills will improve a lot.”
Aiden looked at him, slightly surprised, then slowly nodded. “Thank you. Actually, I think the Magic Apprentice class suits me just fine.”
He was speaking from the heart. If he had any other class, he might not have the Apprentice’s Heart skill at all.
Graham’s lips twitched uncontrollably. What was so great about the worst possible class, Magic Apprentice?
He didn’t say it out loud, though. Instead, he just felt even more disappointed.
“By the way, there’s something else,” Graham suddenly asked, his eyes filled with nervousness and hope. “If possible, can you tell me how you managed to control those Broken Soldiers at the end?”
