Chapter 309: Chapter 309: Killing Sense, Robert’s Arrival
Just as Graham spoke, Cassian couldn’t help but tilt his head slightly, his ears twitching.
His mind was filled with confusion. He really couldn’t understand how Aiden managed to control those Killing Intent Broken Soldiers to kill the giant centipede at the very end.
Without hesitation, Aiden answered directly, “It’s simple. When the Killing Intent invades your body, you just need to sense the Force of Laws hidden inside it.”
“Huh?”
“Sense the Force of Laws!” Cassian and Graham exclaimed in disbelief at the same time.
Both men widened their eyes and stared fixedly at Aiden.
“You sensed the Force of Laws?” they asked in perfect unison.
Cassian no longer pretended to be indifferent. He turned his head to meet Graham’s gaze, who had turned at the exact same time.
“Yes, I sensed the Slaughter Force of Laws, though it’s only at 1.003%,” Aiden replied quickly, still thinking about how to use the recognition from the Killing Intent Broken Soldiers.
He paused for a moment, looking at the silent Graham and Cassian, before continuing:
“Um, shouldn’t the other geniuses take the Killing Intent Broken Soldiers trial now? I have something else to do, so I’ll have to step away for a moment.”
Aiden finished speaking, but Graham and Cassian didn’t react at all. They stood there like statues.
Desperate to get the Killing Intent Broken Soldiers to accept him, Aiden didn’t linger. He walked straight to a corner of the crowd.
The other talented candidates exchanged confused looks. They glanced at the stunned Graham and Cassian, then back at Aiden, completely clueless about what was happening.
More than ten seconds passed before both Graham and Cassian finally took a deep breath in unison.
“That can’t be real,” Cassian shook his head hard, speaking out loud. “A level 50 Magic Apprentice sensing the Force of Laws? How is that even possible?”
Graham glanced at him with a cold look and asked quietly, “If that’s not the reason, tell me then: how did Aiden control those Killing Intent Broken Soldiers?”
Force of Laws is a higher form of Strength. It’s perfectly normal to control Killing Intent Broken Soldiers by sensing the Force of Laws hidden within them, even if Aiden only sensed it and hadn’t mastered it yet.
The whole point of the trial was to pick out powerful geniuses.
If Aiden had truly sensed the Slaughter Force of Laws, those Killing Intent Broken Soldiers would have ended the trial automatically, even if he did nothing else.
But the question remained: could a level 50 Magic Apprentice really sense the Force of Laws?
Graham wasn’t sure either. In fact, if he told his teacher Kenneth about this, he didn’t think his teacher would believe it.
To sense the Force of Laws, one needs incredibly high soul strength.
Even if Aiden had worn a precious soul stone since birth, it would be nearly impossible to raise his soul strength that high.
Of course, there are other special cases where a Reclasser might barely sense the Force of Laws despite a low level, but they usually can only reach 0.05%!
Leveling up, raising soul strength, sensing the Force of Laws, reaching 100% understanding of the Force of Laws, and then trying to master it…
For any ordinary Reclasser, every single one of these steps is like climbing a sheer cliff without any protection before one even awakens their powers.
“It’s a slow, agonizing process. Even with Graham’s level already reaching seventy-five, his comprehension of the Strength Law stood at a mere 0.03%.”
Of course, as his level rises and his soul strength grows, this progress will speed up significantly.
“But I still can’t believe what Aiden said!” Graham thought to himself.
Just then, a talented candidate spoke up, asking, “Can we start our trials now?”
Cassian and Graham waved him off without much interest, simply replying,
“Sure.”
Then, both of them turned their attention back to Aiden.
“Is he really that strong? Damn it, why does that mysterious treasure map fragment happen to be on his person?” Cassian thought to himself.
At the same time, Graham was thinking, “Level 50 and he sensed the Slaughter Force of Laws? No, I need to tell my teacher about this immediately. Maybe my teacher will be tempted to take him as a student!”
“My teacher should be able to get Aiden to Class Change into a Warrior-type job. In that case, Aiden’s future achievements might even surpass mine.”
Meanwhile, in the corner of the crowd, Aiden had just used the recognition from the Killing Intent Broken Soldiers.
His Strength and Constitution stats had both jumped by 5,000 points!
Aiden now felt incredibly powerful. If he threw a full-power punch, he could definitely shatter a big stone.
“Phew, I’m a Magic Apprentice, so I still need to use a staff to fight,” Aiden took a deep breath and thought to himself.
Soon, Aiden checked the skills in his personal status window.
[Intent Perception: Legendary Rank, Passive Skill. Consumes no mana. If any creature within a certain range feels killing intent toward you, your soul will prick with pain. The stronger the killing intent, the sharper the pain. Using this soul prick, you can lock onto the creature that poses a threat. If the target is out of your line of sight, you can still lock onto their general direction and location. This skill relies solely on your Spirit attribute: the higher your Spirit, the larger the detection range.]
Aiden nodded in satisfaction. The Intent Perception skill worked exactly as he had hoped.
Now, even if a powerful Assassin-type Reclasser tried to hide or turn invisible, Aiden would spot them immediately.
Just then, despite feeling quite pleased with himself, Aiden suddenly frowned.
A tiny, sharp sting pricked his soul. The direction was exactly where Cassian had been standing a moment ago!
“Using this skill this quickly? Does Cassian want to kill me?” Aiden thought.
He didn’t turn around immediately. Instead, he acted like he hadn’t noticed anything and walked over to join Victor and the others.
Then, using his peripheral vision, Aiden started watching Cassian carefully.
Cassian was staring at the ground, seemingly deep in thought.
After a few seconds passed, he let out a soft sigh.
Instantly, the soul sting Aiden had felt vanished.
“Did he just give up on trying to kill me?” Aiden’s face remained calm, but his mind was racing.
The sting had been very weak. It seemed Cassian wasn’t planning to make a move during the rest of the journey.
Honestly, the Intent Perception skill was incredibly useful.
Aiden suddenly thought of Henry and Felix. If he returned to the Great Shaw Empire right now and stood in front of those two, how strong would their soul stings be?
Those two really wanted him dead!
“Whether it’s Irene waking up and regaining her strength, my power rising enough to kill Henry, or me actually getting the Floating City—as long as one of these happens, I won’t hesitate to find an opportunity to kill both of them!” Aiden’s eyes flashed with killing intent.
A moment later, while the other talented candidates began enduring the Killing Intent from the Broken Soldiers, Graham suddenly walked over to Aiden.
“Aiden, you’ve successfully passed the trial of the Strongest Killing Intent Broken Soldiers. The remaining trials don’t hold much value for you anymore,” Graham said.
“I’ve already contacted Robert. He’s heading back to the Golden Great Wall right now. If you don’t want to wait, you can go with him to the Golden Great Wall and wait for us there.”
Aiden paused, looking surprised. “Weren’t there supposed to be other trials?”
Graham took a deep breath. He tried hard, but he couldn’t stop his facial muscles from stiffening. With a helpless sigh, he said:
“There are indeed other trials, but those are meant for prodigies who cannot pass the ’Deadliest Intent’ survivor trial, or even fail to trigger it.”
“You can keep going, but you’ll likely gain little improvement, and it would just be a waste of time.”
Aiden nodded, a hint of regret on his face. Still, if he thought about it carefully, his gains were far greater than any of those other prodigies’.
“So, if I head straight to the Golden Great Wall with Robert, how long do I need to wait?” Aiden asked.
Graham glanced at the other prodigies, thought for a moment, and replied, “A dozen or so hours, maybe twenty. That ought to be enough.”
Aiden frowned slightly. That timeframe was too short. If he had a bit more time, he would have considered entering the Abyss again.
After all, he still needed to kill some Mythic Rank creatures from the Abyss and finish his Class Change quest.
Just then, Graham suddenly looked up at the sky behind Aiden, his eyes lighting up with a touch of surprise.
Aiden turned around and saw Robert flying toward them at high speed.
“Calling me over in such a rush—what’s the deal? You only said to tell your teacher a message. What is it?” Robert nodded at Aiden first, then turned to Graham to ask the question.
Graham glanced at Aiden. He wanted Robert to tell the teacher, Kenneth, that Aiden had grasped the Force of Laws of Killing.
The Golden Great Wall is in a very special location, right between the Abyss space and Earth. Ordinary communication methods simply cannot send messages there.
Plus, Kenneth is currently patrolling outside the Golden Great Wall, cleaning up Abyss creatures on the way, so contacting him is very difficult.
Robert, however, could go straight to the Golden Great Wall. Once Kenneth returns, he could deliver the message immediately.
Graham was doing this because he truly has high hopes for Aiden now and wants to introduce him to Kenneth as soon as possible.
“The teacher must be very interested in Aiden once he hears this,” Graham thought to himself.
Taking a deep breath, Graham prepared to tell Robert about Aiden grasping the Force of Laws of Killing.
