Chapter 301: A family betrayal

My body froze and my eyes widened.

There was a moment of silence as I processed her answer. “What are you talking about?” I asked him.

“Kolton is the one who has Anthony.” She explained

“How do I know you’re not lying to me to through me off?” I demanded her. It wasn’t making any sense. This was such a curve ball. “Why would Kolton do this?”

“I have nothing to gain about lying about this,” she quickly defended herself. “He tried to kill me. Kolton is the one who shot me. And he hates you and in particular he hates your father. ”

“So your partner betrayed you? Why?” I asked. I knew Kolton was not happy with my father.

“He lied to me and used me,” she said as tears formed in her eyes.

I scoffed. “That’s rich coming from you. So you know what it feels like to be betrayed don’t you?” I asked her.

The audacity to complain about betrayal when that’s what she did to me.

“I want you to tell me every detail,” i told her as i sat down ont he seat next to the bed. Officer Dhaul remained standing from the corner of the room.

“It happened after we broke up that time ten years ago. You didn’t contact me again after you told me you were getting married to Jasmine. I was despearate, alone, I missed you so much Keith,” she started.

My expression remained cold as i looked at her. I remember how I used to feel so guilty and ashamed in the past whenever she brought up how I handle our past relationship. Now I knew better.

“…Kolton came to me and offered me a deal. He said I could get back to you Keith if i did as he said. He told me the plan would take 7 years and that I would need to have a child with him.”

“And you agreed?’ I asked.

She slowly nodded her head.

My body felt numb as I listened to Diana. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

So you mean to tell me that Diana met Kolton soon after we broke up and had a child with him? I couldn’t believe this. No wonder Marco looked so similar to me. It almost seems like I should have known but I didn’t see it.

I recalled when Jamsine had propsed him as a suspect as well earlier. I shut it down due to lack of evidence. I didn’t want to start anything given our family history. I wanted to believe that there was an understanding between of the situation. That we had both moved on.

My breathing became haggard. I knew that Marco wasn’t my son and yet the betrayal to know it was with my own brother that made the situation so much more unnerving for me.

“What was his goal?” I asked trying to focus and keeo her confession going.

I already knew what the goal was but i wanted to here exactly what they were planning for. “He wanted you to marry me and for me to make Marco my son.”

“He wanted everything, he was waiting for me to make ” she started. “He hates everything about you and and your father.

“Keith please. I know lied to you but it was Kolton that manipulated me. I was desperate to follow his plan and do as he said

“Don’t fucking insult me Diana,” I said. Processing this news was already enough, that coupled with the fact that, Jasmine left me. I couldn’t handle anymore than this.

“I know you’re mad but you have to believe me—” she started rambling again/

“Shut up. You had multiple opportunities to tell me when we were together to whisper or say what was going on. I can’t believe you thought you could trick me!” I spat in disgusted. “Now look at you as you that pathetically lie there. You have nothing now and you’re going to prison for fraud. It’s over for you now.”

Tears began to stream down her face and she began to cry. I scoffed as I looked at her. How pathetic.

“Keith, please you’re all I have. Please I’m begging you to forgive me.”

“I’m all you have now that Kolton abandoned you,” I corrected her.

“You got what you deserve Diana. I almost wish you HAD died,” I coldly told her. I gave her one last glance and her eyes were wide with shock at my cold words to her.

I walked out of the room and Officer Dhaul followed me.

“We’re going straight to Kolton’s home,” I said to him.

“Yes sir. I’ll have officers ready and sent there.

I practically had dodged a bullet. I am so glad never married Diana.

ransom note response. They were formulating documents to pretend I had actually signed off the the company. They key was they would be really convincing at first. It would be hard for one to tell for a while that they are fake.

The ransom said they would first verify the documents were real and then send over Tony.

Of course Edwards helpers (Diana and others) would eventually find out the truth but they wouldn’t know for a while. I just might be able to buy time and get Tony.

I felt irritated at how I should be with my lawyers in person right now instead of looking for Jasmine. I’m doing this for our son and you choose to be so reckless! I approved for the lawyers to finalise the papers and I would see them by tomorrow before we sent it off. I finished the call as I exited the apartment building and headed for my car.

A few moments after the call I received another call. It was my mother I realised as I read the name. I let out a tired sigh. This was not the time talk to her.

“Mother what is it?” I said into the phone.

“I just wanted to find out how you are and how things are going so far,” she told me.
