Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure - Chapter 2145: Ancient civilization

Chapter 2145: Ancient civilization
There really wasn’t much to find in this place as it was filled with rubble.
Anything that might have provided a clue on what this place was before its fall had already been ground down by the force of time.
It really didn’t seem like there was anything here for me to find.
Though that did beggar the question…
“How did this statue survive all this time?”
It wasn’t as if this statue of Solista was made of anything special, so it didn’t make sense that it didn’t decay like everything else here.
Even when I looked at it carefully, it wasn’t as if there was a trace of divine energy inside of this thing that would have prevented it from decaying.
While the statue didn’t exactly look new, it still looked like it was something that had been made not that long ago.
The more that I looked at this statue, the more confused I was about all of this.
“Let’s see if we can find anything else.”
Instead of letting myself become too consumed by the statue, I decided to see if there was anything else here that we could find.
But there really wasn’t anything in this house filled with rubble.
This place had long been emptied out by the hands of time, so the only thing that could be done was to head to a different house in hopes that we would be able to find something.
It was just that all of these houses were the same.
It didn’t matter which one we tried to search, all of them were all completely empty other than some rubble.
No, they weren’t completely empty…
“More statues of Solista…” Seeing all of the statues that we collected, I couldn’t help feeling even more confused.
This was without a doubt a place that Solista had influence in, but what about the people that had lived in this place?
Where did all the people that had created these statues go?
With all of these statues gathered here, there was a part of me that wondered if I would be able to make contact with these statues. After all, they were once connected to Solista, so they should be within her providence.
Which was why I raised the hand with the Mark of God on it towards these statues.
As I held my hand up like this, I patiently waited for some kind of response from the statue or the Mark of God.
It was just that there was nothing that came.
It seemed like neither was reacting to each other even though technically they had the same source. It seemed like whatever was inside of the statues had long disappeared, which was why the Mark of God didn’t recognize it.
“But that just makes even less sense…”
If everything was already gone, then how did these statues survive?
For now, we had explored a decent area and there was nothing that had appeared other than these statues.
But at the same time, we had lit up quite a bit of this place with the torches that we had left in each of the buildings. There was a certain feeling that came from seeing those torches light up this place.
It was almost as if there was a bit of life that came back to this place.
From what we found, it was clear that there was some kind of ancient civilization that had once lived in this place. However, one could also see that this civilization wasn’t that backwards.
It seemed like the technology that they possessed was quite advanced.
Or at least based on the things that had survived all this time.
Which made even less sense that they would have been destroyed…
“This place is a residential area based on what we’ve found so far. I don’t think that we’ll find any more clues about this place if we stay here, so we should go deeper in and see what we can find.”
That was what I proposed in the end.
Both Lupus and Joan had hesitant looks on their faces since they knew what the dangers of doing this was, but they also knew that there was nothing that we could do as long as we stayed in this place.
It was only a matter of time before something happened, so it was better for us to go now instead of having something come and find us.
Though from our experience, it really didn’t seem like there was anything here.
Or if anything had been here, this place had been abandoned for so long that their remains had already decayed to dust. After all, we hadn’t found a single trace of corpses since arriving in this place.
The other explanation was that whatever civilization had once lived here migrated away.
It could be possible that these were nothing more than ruins of a nearby civilization.
But the most important thing was that as long as we were here, we wouldn’t be able to do anything for the people that we cared about the most. Even now, War was most likely terrorizing the capital city.
It was even possible that the forces of Destruction led by War had completely destroyed the Kite Kingdom.
Only I was trying to keep that out of mind.
As long as I didn’t see any proof of this, I wouldn’t believe that this was true.
So that was why I wanted to find a way out of this place as soon as possible.
Both Lupus and Joan looked at me with worried looks, but I chose not to address it since I knew what they were worried about.
With that decision made, we started moving forward.
It seemed like it was deeper into this place as there were more buildings that appeared.
The way that they became more dense showed that this was closer to a place where more of this ancient civilization lived.
Which meant that we were most likely getting closer to the center of what seemed to be a city that they lived in.
