Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure - Chapter 2149: Lights suddenly turning on

Chapter 2149: Lights suddenly turning on
As Lupus led the way forward, the way that the surroundings changed showed that we were getting closer and closer to the center of the city.
After all, this place was clearly not residential anymore with the change in types of buildings.
These buildings were buildings that were designed for a purpose.
These were buildings that were made to contain a lot of people, a place where people would gather to work.
It could even be said that this was the place where most of the population of that ancient civilization would have gathered.
But right now, it seemed like it was abandoned.
With most of that ancient civilization gone, it could only be said that this place was completely abandoned. There really wasn’t a single trace of life in this place with how little sound there was here.
At the very least, it didn’t seem like there was anything hostile that was gathered in this place.
There were no traces of the corruption energy or anything that would have destroyed this place.
After walking for a while, Lupus suddenly came to a stop.
“Did you find something?”
I tried asking, but it didn’t seem like Lupus heard me. Instead, it seemed like there was something that Lupus was being cautious about near us which made Joan and I raise our guard as well.
But we were completely caught off guard by the sudden change.
We had our torches, but they just couldn’t compare to the lights that suddenly lit up.
Because of how bright these lights were, we couldn’t help being a bit dazed.
It took a while for our eyes to adjust, but we did adjust eventually and we could see that these were lights that were attached to the buildings around us. However, it didn’t really make sense to Joan and Lupus as to what was powering these lights.
With the way that the lights were, it really seemed like there was some kind of invisible energy source that was powering it.
Only for someone like me who came from a modern world, I knew exactly what it was.
I could see that there were lines that were coming out of the back of the lights and ran into the buildings. It was properly covered, but there was no hiding the few wires that were connected to the lights.
It was just that I had no idea where the electricity for these lights came from.
Or was it magic that was powering these lights since this was a world that was filled with mana?
Regardless of what it was, the first reaction that I had was, “Who is it?”
I said this out loud without any fear, but I did raise the orb just in case something happened. Only it didn’t seem like there was anything that was going to come out with how there was only silence that followed after I said this.
It really seemed like there wasn’t a single person that was out there.
But I knew that it was impossible for these lights to have survived all this time.
It would have been impossible for stored energy to have remained in storage like this since there was natural leakage for any power source. So unless there was more power that was being generated, then there shouldn’t be any power for these lights.
So there had to be people living in this place running these facilities.
Seeing that there was no one that responded or came forward, I had no choice but to go forward to investigate in the end.
When they saw me moving forward, both Joan and Lupus moved in front of me as if they were going to put themselves in the way of anything that attacked.
As we continued forward, it didn’t seem like there was a single thing that was going to come out.
Then once we reached the building the lights were on, we were able to make our way inside without a single thing popping out.
This building was clearly some kind of business building, but the way that Lupus and Joan looked at it showed that they had never seen anything like this before.
In the end, there were even lights that appeared in this lobby.
Joan and Lupus immediately raised their guards as if they were preparing for something to attack, but I was different. The difference between us was that I could guess why these lights had suddenly appeared like this.
“Well, if they have that kind of technology, it wouldn’t be strange if they had motion sensors as well. It’s just that how is it still being powered after all this time?”
That was the one thing that I couldn’t figure out as I stared at all of the lights that lit up this lobby.
With the lights, I could easily see that everything else that was here had long turned to rubble. So it wasn’t as if there was something about this place that allowed the things here to survive.
It seemed like it was only like the lights and whatever was powering them that were still intact.
“I shouldn’t judge them based on my standard from my past life.”
That was what I decided on in the end.
I realized my mistake in thinking that there was no way that they wouldn’t be able to figure out some kind of energy storage that would be able to keep energy without leaking.
Or it might be some kind of energy storage that would allow energy to be kept for a long time with a very low rate of leaking.
Whatever it was, it seemed like these things had survived however long it had been since this ancient civilization had been destroyed.
There was a part of me that wanted to find these things since there was no doubt that these ancient relics would be a great thing to study. If it could also store mana, then it would certainly be useful for many different things.
