Wasteland: I Awakened A Plant System - Chapter 117: Easy Difficulty For Plants Team

Chapter 117: Easy Difficulty For Plants Team
The moment the Hulking’s head hit the ground, the remaining Apex Zombies froze.
They finally understood the reality, if they didn’t do something now, they would be next.
The Colossus roared louder than ever, slamming his single fist into the ground. A violent shockwave cracked the battlefield, forcing even the Warrior Druid to slide back slightly. Enraged that the Warrior Druid had abandoned their fight midway and then finished the Hulking, the Colossus charged straight at him.
“THUD! THUD! THUD!!”
Each step crushed the earth. It raised his one massive arm while his second one was regenerating, and brought them down with crushing force.
“BOOOOOOOM!!”
But the Warrior Druid vanished from the spot and reappeared behind it.
“SHHK!”
A cut landed on its back, but the Colossus didn’t stop. It spun instantly and backhanded the Warrior Druid.
“BOOOM!!”
The Warrior Druid blocked, but the force sent it sliding across the ground.
At the same time, the Plague Bringer swelled unnaturally. Multiple toxic sacs formed across its body, pulsing violently.
“…That’s bad,” Neha muttered. If those sacs exploded, the toxins could reach the wall.
The Plague Bringer burst open.
A massive cloud of corrosive gas, pressure, and decay exploded outward.
But before it could spread, “FWOOM!!”
The Fire Mage Sprout stepped forward. It unleashed Inferno Breath move, it was a powerful cone-shaped torrent of scorching flame erupted from its core. The flames burned with intense heat and focused destructive force, capable of breaking enemy formations or forcing even elite creatures to retreat.
“FWOOM!! FWOOM!!”
Instead of pushing the gas back, the Fire Mage Sprout burned through it layer by layer. The toxic mist collapsed and disintegrated before it could advance even a few meters.
“…It’s overpowering,” Deepak said quietly.
The Plague Bringer shrieked in fury.
At the same moment, the Shadow Lurker moved faster and more desperately than before. It split into dozens of shadowy copies, surrounding the Light Mage Sprout from every direction.
“SHHHK—! SHHHK—!”
Attacks came from all sides.
“FLASH!!’
But suddenly a brilliant light exploded outward. The Light Mage Sprout didn’t even turn. A circular radiant pulse spread, disintegrating every shadow clone instantly and forcing the real body into visibility.
The Light Mage Sprout raised its hand and released, and his condensed concentrated light energy into fast-moving luminous projectiles. The bolts struck the Shadow Lurker repeatedly, burning away its dark essence and preventing it from merging or hiding.
He has used the ’Radiant Bolt’; these glowing bolts were filled with holy-type damage, especially effective against shadow, undead, and corrupted enemies.
The Shadow Lurker screamed as parts of its body began to disintegrate instead of reforming.
—
Back with the Colossus, its severed arm had already regenerated. It roared and slammed both fists down again.
But before the blow could land, the ground beneath it erupted. Thick, powerful vines surged upward from the Guardian Druid, wrapping around the Colossus’s arms and legs, locking its entire body in place.
“GAGAAAA!!”
The Guardian Druid stepped forward and slammed its shield into the giant’s chest with full force.
“BOOOOOOM!!”
Cracks spread across its armor.
At the same time, two arrows from the Archer Sprouts flew in perfect sync, piercing the Colossus’s eyes and blinding it once again.
For Archer Sprouts, they have only work, they will blind the enemies, while the others take care of it.
Colossus shouted in anger as his eyes pierced and he was unable to see anything.
The Warrior Druid seized the opening. It dashed forward, leaped high, and struck the weakened neck with repeated, precise slashes.
“SHHHHHHHK!!!”
For the Warrior Druid, slashing the neck had become its signature move. After several continuous strikes, the head finally separated. The Colossus’s massive body began splitting apart from within before collapsing completely with a thunderous “CRRRRRRACK—!!”
Meanwhile, the Plague Bringer tried to retreat for the first time. But the Fire Mage Sprout didn’t let it escape. Burning vines shot across the ground, extending fiery tendrils that wrapped around the Plague Bringer’s body and pierced its toxic sacs.
It was the Blazing Vine move, whenever Fire Mage Sprout used this move, vines ignited everything they touched, forming temporary fire zones that restricted movement and dealt continuous burning damage.
The Plague Bringer’s body convulsed as flames spread rapidly through its sacs and rotten flesh. Black smoke poured out as the toxins inside burned away. Its screams grew weaker until its entire form collapsed, disintegrated into ash and charred remains.
Three Apex Zombies — down.
Only the Shadow Lurker remained. Its body was unstable, flickering, and breaking apart. It tried desperately to escape into the darkness, but the Light Mage Sprout’s light followed every movement, stripping away all its advantages.
The Light Mage Sprout stepped forward, calm and silent, and released one final burst, Radiant Bolt, against condensing concentrated light energy into fast-moving luminous projectiles. The bolts struck the Shadow Lurker, dealing heavy damage, especially against its shadow-corrupted form. It was injured, but not completely defeated.
Before it could recover, the Guardian Druid and Warrior Druid appeared. The Shadow Lurker had always relied on darkness and hallucinations, but under the continuous light, all its advantages were gone. It could no longer hide, confuse, or escape.
Now exposed and weakened, it became nothing more than a plaything for the Guardian and Warrior Druid, who overwhelmed it with coordinated attacks until it was finally destroyed.
Only the Wall Breaker remained, still locked in combat with the Water Mage Sprout. All its rockets had been fired and neutralized, forcing it into close combat.
When it tried to punch the small sprout in frustration, the Water Mage Sprout easily dodged every strike, thanks to its tiny, agile body. Using fluid movements and water-enhanced speed, it continuously evaded attacks while countering with precise strikes, slowly wearing the Wall Breaker down.
—
Meanwhile, on the wall, seeing how effortlessly all four Apex Zombies had been destroyed left everyone speechless. They had struggled so much against even one of them in the past that they couldn’t find words to describe what they were feeling now.
Vikrant and Neha exchanged glances, both remembering how the Shadow Lurker had nearly toyed with them to death yesterday. Today, that same creature was being toyed with and dismantled by the Light Mage Sprout, Guardian Druid, and Warrior Druid.
Imran and Raghav felt the same deja vu. They had nearly died fighting the Colossus and Hulking before, yet today those monsters were cut down with terrifying ease by Guardian and Warrior Druid.
The rest of the team watched in pure amazement and awe at the performance of Vikram’s Plant Team.
Even Isha had a new realization, “Why not blind the Apex first and then finish them? It would make everything so much easier.”
—
Back on the battlefield, the Wall Breaker roared in frustration and threw a heavy punch downward.
“BOOOOM!!*”
The ground shattered, but the punch hit nothing.
The Water Mage Sprout slipped past the strike effortlessly. The Wall Breaker swung again, faster and harder.
“BOOM!! BOOM!! BOOM!!”
Each punch cratered the earth and sent debris flying, but the Water Mage Sprout was never where the blow landed. It weaved, slid, and shifted with water-enhanced agility. At times, its body seemed to ripple, as if it wasn’t fully solid.
And a thin, compressed blade of water formed along the sprout’s hand. It struck the Leader Zombie Wall Breaker.
“SHHK!!”
A clean cut appeared across the Wall Breaker’s arm. Dark ichor splashed out. The Wall Breaker flinched and roared louder, trying to grab the small sprout, but it was too slow. Another strike followed.
“SHHK!!”
This time on its leg. Then another across the torso. Each attack was precise and targeted, to weaken and break it down piece by piece. The Water Mage Sprout never rushed. It circled, flowed, and dictated the rhythm of the battle like water slowly eroding stone.
The Wall Breaker grew more aggressive. Its attacks became wild and uncontrolled. It slammed both fists down again.
“BOOOOOOM!!”
A powerful shockwave spread outward. The Water Mage Sprout stepped back, but didn’t panic. It raised its hand. Water gathered instantly, condensing and spinning.
“Tidal Bind!”
SHHHHH—!!
Spiraling streams of water shot forward, wrapping around the Wall Breaker’s arms, legs, and torso. The currents tightened like unbreakable chains. The more the Wall Breaker struggled, the stronger the pressure became.
On the wall, everyone watched in tense silence. Even Carol’s eyes sharpened. “…Control-type suppression,” she murmured.
At that moment, the other sprouts arrived.
The Fire Mage Sprout, Guardian Druid, Warrior Druid, and Light Mage Sprout joined the encirclement. The Wall Breaker was now completely surrounded.
The Guardian Druid slammed its shield into the Wall Breaker’s side, staggering it. The Warrior Druid followed with rapid blade strikes to the same weakened spots.
The Fire Mage Sprout launched concentrated fire blasts to burn away its armor and prevent regeneration. The Light Mage Sprout kept flashing bright pulses of light to disrupt any attempt at recovery or hidden movements.
The Wall Breaker roared desperately, but it was trapped.
The Water Mage Sprout stepped forward slowly. A larger, denser water blade formed in its hand. It aimed directly at the head and struck with full force.
“SHHHHHHK!!”
The blade pierced through cleanly. Cracks spread across the Wall Breaker’s entire body like breaking glass.
“CRRRRRRACK—!!”
Light burst from within. The massive zombie stood still for a moment… then collapsed with a heavy “THUDDDDD!!”
Gone.
Complete silence fell over the battlefield and the wall. The fifth wave had been cleared.
