With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods - Chapter 1412: Indigenous people

Chapter 1412: Indigenous people
From one of the biggest cities to a swamp in the middle of nowhere.
It certainly was a drastic change of scenery for Lin Fan, but this was the place where his second task was. Which was why he had no choice but to come to this place.
When he arrived, the first thing that he did was call out Hayase.
“I don’t want to be here.”
Hayase did make his complaints heard, but Lin Fan didn’t send him back in since he needed Hayase’s abilities.
Hayase had the power to control water, which was why Lin Fan was using his power to keep the dirty swamp water away from himself.
With Hayase doing his thing, there wasn’t a single drop of that swamp water that touched Lin Fan. Though he did make sure to make his complaints heard by Lin Fan during this time.
With Hayase clearing the way, it was much easier for Lin Fan to move through this swamp.
Though to find what they were looking for, it was all about luck.
This swamp was called the Serpent Wetlands and the reason for that was…
“Found another one.”
With a flick of his hand, there was a bubble of water that came out of the swamp.
Inside of this bubble of water was a snake that had its fangs open as if it was about to bite. The reason for that was all because it had been planning on biting Lin Fan’s foot in front of it.
This place was filled with these serpents that completely ruled over this place, which was why it had been given this name. Not to mention that the worst part of it all was that most of these serpents were venomous.
A single bite would be more than enough to take down a grown man.
In fact, a single bite would be enough to take down an elephant.
That was just how strong the poison of these serpents were.
But it wasn’t as if they would have been able to affect Lin Fan in the first place. For the poison to reach Lin Fan, the serpent would have needed to pierce through his skin and it definitely wouldn’t have been able to do that with just the strength of its jaws.
Though it wasn’t as if it was a bad thing to be careful about this.
Along the way, Lin Fan had collected quite a few of these serpents.
He didn’t actually kill them, he just collected them and stored them away inside the Minor World. After all, having live serpents would certainly be much better than having just a bunch of corpses.
Live serpents would mean more poison for him.
He had already heard about the method of harvesting the poison of the serpents from their fangs, so he wanted to bring back as many live serpents as possible.
After walking around for a bit, Lin Fan suddenly stopped.
“This isn’t working at all.”
The main reason that he had been walking around in the first place was because he had wanted to use himself as bait to draw out his target.
This Serpent Wetlands was a large place and this entire place was the territory of his target. Which meant that it was possible that this target would show up anywhere in this place.
So in the end, it really didn’t matter if he used himself as bait in this small area.
If he wanted to draw in the target, he really needed to find a better way to find it.
“There’s something following us, something different from the serpents.”
Hayase nodded in agreement to this.
Lin Fan and Hayase had both noticed the ones following them a long time ago, but they had ignored them since they didn’t seem to pose any harm.
But now that he had no other choice, Lin Fan decided that it was finally time to address this.
Which was why he and Hayase suddenly split up.
The two of them knew exactly where the ones following them were, so it was easy for them to track them down. When they split up like this, they were both targeting different people that had been following them.
It didn’t take them long to subdue their stalkers, but it was surprising to see how these people were dressed.
They didn’t dress in the same way as people of the magic continent, they were dressed in a way that made them seem like primitives. Though from their clothes, it was clear that they were the people that had lived here for a long time.
“Are they people indigenous to this Serpent Wetlands?”
The more that Lin Fan looked at them, the more certain of this he was.
At the same time, he couldn’t help feeling that these people might be the solution to his problem.
But there was one thing that seemed to pose a problem.
The language that these indigenous people were speaking, it didn’t seem like something that he was able to understand. At the same time, there was no guarantee that they would be able to understand what he said.
So now it was a problem of being able to communicate his intentions to them.
“Can you understand me?”
The way that they looked at him answered his question even without them saying anything. But in the end, it seemed like this wasn’t a problem like he thought it would be.
“Outsider, what do you want from us?”
When he heard one of them speaking the common language, Lin Fan couldn’t help letting out a sigh of relief. Though it also made him a bit curious why they were able to speak this language.
“How can you understand me?”
“You think that you’re the first outsider that has set foot in our home? Also, it’s not as if we’re completely isolated from the rest of the world. We aren’t as primitive as you think.”
The way that this indigenous person said this was almost as if they were trying to jab Lin Fan with these words.
Lin Fan didn’t mind this as he said, “I’m here for the hydra.”
The moment that he said this, it wasn’t just the one translator that looked afraid. It seemed like this was a word that all of the indigenous people recognized and were afraid of.
It even looked like they were angry that he had mentioned this name, as if it would summon it.
“Why?” That was all that the translator asked after hearing what Lin Fan said.
Without any fear, Lin Fan just calmly said, “I’m here to deal with it.”
There was a look of disdain that appeared on the translator’s face when he heard this before he said, “Please don’t cause any trouble for us.”
“I was able to deal with you, why don’t you think that I’ll be able to deal with it?”
“Those are ignorant words. You clearly don’t know the power that thing possesses and are overestimating yourself. However, you doing this will not only bring your death, but cause trouble for us when it rampages because of your actions.”
“I know that dealing with you isn’t that impressive, but you should be able to trust this, right?”
As he said this, Lin Fan took out his Adventurer’s Guild License.
He didn’t know if this would work, but there really wasn’t anything else that he could use with these people.
In the end, it seemed like it was effective.
The moment that the translator saw his S Rank License, his expression changed.
After a moment of silence, the translator finally said, “It seems like you weren’t bluffing.”
“So you know about the Adventurer’s Guild?”
With a snort, the translator said, “Who do you think would come to a place like this and trade with people like us?”
A wry smile appeared on Lin Fan’s face hearing this, but he continued by saying, “Since you’re convinced of my power, then does that mean that you’re willing to cooperate with me?”
“Cooperate?” The translator revealed a confused look when he heard this.
Lin Fan calmly replied, “Since you’ve lived here for so long, I’m sure that you know more about this place than I do. Which means that you should be able to track down the hydra for me, right?”
The translator’s face turned ugly the moment that he heard this, but it didn’t seem like he was going to deny this.
Lin Fan could see the look of thought that was in the translator’s eyes after he made this proposal.
Even if the translator didn’t say anything, this had basically confirmed that they indeed did have a way to track down the hydra.
As for why the translator acted this way, it was because he could hear from the way that Lin Fan said this that Lin Fan wasn’t asking a question. It was more that Lin Fan was stating a fact.
In the end, the translator gave a sigh as he said, “This isn’t a decision that I can make on my own. This is something that I’ll have to report back to the chief and let him decide.”
Lin Fan had already been expecting this since he had guessed that there was an entire tribe of them living here.
Which was why he just gave a simple nod in response to this and gestured for them to lead the way.
As he did, the water bindings around the indigenous people were released.
The translator stopped them from doing anything and led the way back to their tribe.
Though along the way, Lin Fan could see the suspicious looks that were cast in his direction by the indigenous people.
