Chapter 1426 - 1423: Deserved Punishment

Igor and Amoon stared blankly at Douglas, surprised at how efficiently Douglas handled things.

Unlike them, Douglas never dwelled on matters for long or spent much time pondering the perfect course of action. In his mind, there's just one thought: act decisively.

Such straightforwardness amazed Igor and Amoon.

After all, they hadn't thought of such a method.

"These people once summoned these wild Gray Plain Wolves, depriving them of freedom but failed to treat them well. Now, let them taste the consequences," Douglas said softly.

His words were like a bolt of lightning that struck Emile's brain, filling it with stars, for he was familiar with that forest.

The forest on the border has always been a dangerous place, full of beasts, and besides some hunters, few venture into it. Even the experienced hunters only roam its outskirts. Putting them in this forest is tantamount to throwing them into hell!

The thought was terrifying, rendering Emile speechless with shock.

"Look at their expressions, they seem very dissatisfied with this decision, filled with fear," Igor immediately said.

"I think the decision is good; they should be sent into that forest," Amoon retorted with anger in his tone.

"The sins of the Trampler won't be washed clean even if they jump into the Star River," Douglas added, indicating he had studied these Mantai People a bit.

"Then let's not waste any time!" Igor proposed, suddenly feeling the urgency to punish these great sinners swiftly.

Igor's words jolted the Mantai People awake, and they began wailing loudly. After all, heading to that forest is not a good choice!

"You can't treat us like this!"

"Please, spare us!"

"Don't send us into that forest!"

"We are innocent!"

This group was making a scene, hoping to persuade Douglas to spare them, but little did they know, Douglas's decision was already quite merciful.

"Enough, stop shouting!" Amoon commanded, his voice loud and authoritative.

"If you fell into my hands, I would have buried you earlier!"

This roar quieted the Mantai People, their cries turning to sobs, gradually silencing.

"Douglas has offered you a path to survival; you have a chance to live in the forest, so stop whining!"

Amoon reproached the Mantai People unapologetically, honestly questioning their authenticity as Mantai People.

True Mantai People do not fear death; they revere it. They never plead for mercy, preferring to die in battle than accept capture.

Yet, this current bunch of Mantai People were just cowards, devoid of any courage...

This made Igor and the others look down on them even more.

"Alright, let's not waste time," Igor urged, believing this was the best punishment for the group.

Letting those Gray Plain Wolves extend a courtesy to their former masters is indeed a gratifying prospect.

Under Igor's encouragement, the group embarked on the path to exile into the forest.

The forest inhabited by wolves is just ahead of Mist Town; though not far, it remains quite concealed, with a heavy fog at its front—a fog that lent the town its name.

Everyone knows there's danger beneath that fog, the fact being all too obvious.

These Mantai People are entirely cowards, counterfeit Mantai People, without a shred of dignity. Crying out wildly as if heading to their death.

"How could this group behave this way?" Igor wondered aloud, perplexed as he compared it to what he had read in books.

"They were expelled from the Ghost Realm by true Mantai People; strictly speaking, they are a bunch of scum and defectives who weren't cast out due to lacking competence," explained Amoon, who understood the world more intricately than Igor, trying to enlighten him.

This bunch of fake Mantai People, now with hands bound, walked reluctantly forward. Surrounding them were the Exchange Beasts, summoned by Amoon solely to ensure they don't escape.

This group committed so many evil deeds that they've forgotten their past atrocities, now receiving the retribution they deserve.

From the forest came the sound of wolves howling, seemingly anticipating the forthcoming events.

Perhaps, it was a form of gratitude from the wolves toward Douglas and the others.

One by one, the Mantai People entered the forest, while the Exchange Beasts stood outside, vanishing only once ensuring everyone was inside.

This was perhaps unnecessary, as finding the exit after entering Mist Forest is challenging, known to only the most seasoned hunters.

Indeed, Douglas had given them a chance at survival, but whether they could find their way out of Mist Forest depended on their skills.

Not long after, the entire forest echoed with cries, as the punishment seemingly hit the fake Mantai People hard.

"Well, they've now received the punishment they deserve," Igor sighed, showing zero tolerance toward the wicked, with no sentiments left.

"It's time we attended to another matter," Amoon stated calmly, prioritizing what he deemed more important.

"Alright, I'll show you where I buried Brass," Douglas said, picking up a twig and starting to draw on the ground.

"Excellent, let's set out immediately!" Igor and Amoon exchanged glances and spoke in agreement.

"Let's make it a race to see who gets there first; how about it?" Igor suggested, his proposal quite appealing.

"No, to dismiss any doubts, I'd better follow behind you," Douglas showed caution, primarily to rid Amoon of his skepticism.

Avoiding further suspicion from Amoon, Douglas let them go ahead to the burial site of Brass, while he followed behind…
