Chapter 1435 - 1432: Precarious Watcher

  • Next Chapter

Douglas and Amoon naturally understood what Precarious Watcher represented.

It's the most treacherous place on Han Lake, where the currents are rapid, seemingly forming a whirlpool. The paths surrounding Precarious Watcher are also perilous, requiring effort to reach.

Few people venture there; only those who admire the scenery take the risk to see it.

Igor naturally didn't understand the dangers of Precarious Watcher. He felt that if there was a path, it should be tried.

But now, the Spirit Book explained, and Igor couldn't get a word in. He couldn't offer any useful advice because Douglas and Amoon, these two mentors, knew far more than he did.

"Once you reach Precarious Watcher, you'll naturally know why it's a shortcut." The Spirit Book teased.

Igor scratched his head, puzzled about why the answer could only be found there.

"The view there is indeed great, but avoiding the whirlpool isn't easy," Douglas said, as he had evidently been to Precarious Watcher.

"Don't just focus on the whirlpool; the location of Precarious Watcher is hard for ordinary people to find," Amoon added.

It seemed both had visited the place.

"You all really do know a lot, looks like you are quite remarkable!" The Spirit Book commented meaningfully, showing interest in the current circumstances as if it were assessing these people.

"I roam the world, so I must understand these things. Otherwise, I couldn't survive, so it's not about being remarkable," Amoon said indifferently.

"Yes, we abandoned folks must constantly think about where danger lies and where it doesn't, living amidst fear all day," Douglas's viewpoint contrasted with Amoon's, with one appearing positive, the other negative.

Whether positive or negative, they understood Precarious Watcher well, unlike Igor, who seemed clueless.

Many like Igor died on the path of exploration, arrogant, indifferent to danger, unwilling to heed advice, overestimating their own abilities, ultimately succumbing to unknown dangers, even losing their lives.

But Igor didn't repeat their mistakes mainly because he always maintained a humble heart. Though fearless, he often reflected and listened to elders' advice. Even when alone, he wouldn't act recklessly, knowing he must remain clear-headed to continue his explorations.

Thus, Igor was very calm now, not hastily offering suggestions or becoming impatient, realizing Precarious Watcher was a place they must visit.

"Now that we're here, half a day's journey to Precarious Watcher, let's head there instead of staying here discussing,"

This was Amoon's suggestion, natural yet daring.

"I agree, since we're already here and decided to visit the Wensi Empire on this long journey, what's half a day anyway!" Douglas said, looking at Igor, as if awaiting Igor's response.

"I..." Igor's emotions were uncontrollable, yet he was tongue-tied.

"He'll surely agree. A curious heart is more important than anything!" The Spirit Book answered for Igor.

"This..." The Spirit Book's response surprised Igor, revealing a side of his perception in its eyes...

"Let's depart then, bury these folks. They've completed their mission and deserve peace," Douglas suggested, showing a kind side despite these people being former adversaries, ensuring a proper arrangement.

"Don't look at me like that; if we don't bury them, we'll face plagues or other issues. It's for Mist Town's sake, though few people remain in the town!" Douglas felt uneasy at Igor's reverent gaze, hence his words.

Igor scratched his head awkwardly...

"Alright, bury these bodies first; I need sleep. Call me when we're at Precarious Watcher; I must be ready to show you the shortcut. Trust me, trust Lord Soron—the shortcut exists!" The Spirit Book yawned, seemingly tired.

"Sure, we'll ask when we get there," Amoon replied.

Everyone busied themselves, but with Amoon present, everything seemed easy. The Exchange Beast played a significant role as the Burrowing Beast dug pits for them to bury individuals bearing the Dual Fish Clan insignia.

Then they set off for Precarious Watcher, a smooth journey except for the occasional chirp of night insects.

Igor and the others found a quiet spot to rest overnight, reaching Precarious Watcher early the next morning.

The so-called "watcher" was a small island in the river, opposite which stood a modest mountain. Mist on the river obscured the view, but Igor could sense the place's treachery.

The river roared, emitting crashing sounds, but Igor felt no wind, as if the waves were Han Lake's internal force!

What amazed Igor most was the mountain behind him. Despite technically not a mountain, it felt grand in the mist. Like a powerful figure beside him, providing a sense of security.

Indeed, a sense of security; the mountain or rock seemed to provide safety!

"When the sun rises, you'll feel the rock's charm!" Douglas spoke, noticing Igor constantly staring at the rock behind him.

"Is this a mountain or rock?" Igor wondered, puzzled.

"Whatever you perceive it to be, that's its charm—more like a guide!" Amoon added, revealing Precarious Watcher's mysterious nature.

"Person?" Igor didn't understand how a rock or hill could be considered a person!

"Yes, it tells us the most dangerous part of Han Lake lies ahead, clearly visible from here!"
