Chapter 1436 - 1433: Water Spirit (Part 1)

The sun has risen, just at the right time.

The sunlight trickles down thread by thread, driving away the cold of the morning, and nurturing all things as they gradually awaken.

Though the sunlight cannot completely disperse the mist on the river, it still allows Igor to see clearly the thing behind him that is neither quite a mountain nor solely a stone.

The thing that always gave him a sense of safety is now laid out before him, not so majestic but having a powerful impact.

Just as Elder Amoon and Douglas said, this thing indeed resembles a person.

He extended his finger, pointing forward, where Han Lake lies, the currents turbulent, the sound of waves incessant, and that seemingly magical little island is undergoing significant impact.

Igor now finally understands why he feels a sense of safety, because this direction-indicating stone tells him where danger lies, allowing him to avoid it. Even a stranger arriving here would take a second glance at this stone or small mountain because it is extremely conspicuous.

A humanoid stone, or rather a mountain, in such a desolate place gives people more than just a sense of mystery.

These things naturally go without saying, the whims of nature always surprise people, and this feeling also creates a sense of awe towards nature, which is part of nature's formidable presence.

Igor marvels at it; no wonder this landscape attracts adventurers' footsteps, as it is indeed very beautiful.

"This is Precarious Watcher, here someone guides us and advises us of risk!" Amoon continued, admiring the scenery, even though he had seen it many times before, he still found it astonishing.

"Oftentimes, we are led by it, we can see those dangerous grounds," Douglas added, seemingly influenced by the emotions from the first time he saw Precarious Watcher, his face wearing a somewhat solemn expression.

"You can follow the direction it points," Amoon suggested, knowing that Igor, with his curiosity, would definitely do as they said, for those curious are always captivated by the unknown.

"Look carefully, and you'll discover what you should," Douglas offered Igor a reminder.

"Hmm." Igor accepted Douglas and the others' suggestion well, standing in front of that mountain, or stone, where a small stone slab seems to be placed for someone to stand upon.

"As long as we follow this direction?" Even after stepping up, Igor still felt unsure, continuing to question Douglas and the others.

Douglas and the others just nodded without speaking, their actions seemingly conveying to Igor that such a moment is sacred and shouldn't be broken lightly.

Igor stopped questioning further, being a sensible person, he naturally knew what this solemnity represented. He calmed himself and, following the pointed direction, looked closely.

Igor saw a lonely boat navigating the vast whiteness of the river, the perspective getting closer, he saw that the person on the boat was himself.

He was steering the lonely boat, using all his strength left and right, trying to keep it balanced, as the current was extremely rapid, he couldn't control the boat's direction well.

The river's waves battered continuously, if it weren't for his strong piloting skills, these waves would have overturned his boat onto the river.

Not only the waves, but nameless big fish in the river kept jumping out from time to time, constantly causing unnecessary trouble.

Those big fish seemed to want to bite him, wanting to turn him into food.

Meanwhile, the whirlpool continued to expand, and his lonely boat was nearing it...

What on earth was happening, Igor felt astonished, how could he be seeing himself rowing in the river...

Before Igor could figure it out, the lonely boat was sucked into the whirlpool, and Igor himself was devoured by it.

Then Igor saw, those big fish on the edge of the whirlpool were gnawing at his flesh, the pain instantaneously transmitted to his body.

Impossible!

A thought flashed in Igor's mind, and then he saw another scene.

This time he successfully avoided the whirlpool, and his lonely boat swam like a fish under his control, but just as he was feeling fortunate, a river wave flipped him over, splitting the boat in two, and he was swept away by the waves...

How could this be!

Igor still found it unlikely, once again a thought emerged.

This time, he avoided the whirlpool and also dodged the river waves, but a super large fish swallowed him whole...

Swallowed him!

Igor felt a chill, such a scene was too horrific, that fish could swallow the entire boat, indeed it was terrifying.

The three scenarios unfolded before Igor, the first due to carelessness, the second due to an accident, the third unimaginable, indeterminable.

Igor was panting, stepping down from the stone slab.

Clearly, he didn't want to look in that direction anymore, as all perceived futures were perilous, with no path to success, it felt too real.

"How was it?" Douglas asked with concern.

"Did you see the danger?"

Igor nodded, truly finding the experience incredible.

"Illusion Spell, there's an Illusion Spell here!" Igor exclaimed, although he didn't fully understand the matter, he had some judgment about his own experience.

This was undoubtedly an Illusion Spell, a warning not to proceed further.

"Indeed it is an Illusion Spell, but it's kindly reminding us where danger lies."

"Some of those dangers are exaggerated, that fish, quite large..." Igor thought there were still many suspicious points.

"Not exaggerated, now look at the river again," Amoon suggested, "I think you can judge whether you're caught in an Illusion Spell."

Igor nodded, then once again gazed upon the river.

With the sun's shining light, some areas of the river were free of fog, and at those spots, the water surface appeared dark, as though something massive was swimming below.

"This..." Igor didn't know what to say.

"River Monster, the large fish you mentioned," Douglas shrugged, his explanation fitting, leaving Igor a bit embarrassed.

At this point, Igor turned to look at the small mountain again, and he marveled to himself, Could this stone be a prophet, or did it genuinely point out danger for them?

This Illusion Spell couldn't possibly form naturally, could it?

Igor furrowed his brow, clearly very puzzled by the situation.
