One-Eyed Monster
Chapter 1441 - 1438: Song Voices
Always written there, yet no one can understand it—this can be considered a form of sorrow.
Igor thinks it's a sorrow for those who can't understand the book, a sorrow for those who wrote it without making it clear to others, and an even greater sorrow for the Spirit Book itself for not making things clear.
With all these sorrows mixed together, it becomes a great regret.
Now, whatever the Spirit Book says, it holds little value because this matter has been hidden for so many years without being discovered, which is quite a failure.
"Why can't Lord Soron just explain directly? Isn't keeping secrets like this problematic, and it's been hidden for so many years. This decision is truly a failure!" Igor straightforwardly expressed his thoughts, thinking it a matter worth contemplating. Since the Spirit Book is a legacy of Lord Soron's will, it needs to clarify things.
"Many things can't be solved just by the truth, because sometimes the truth only makes things worse," the Spirit Book said, its tone very moderate, without a sense of superiority. But this tone still felt like preaching, even if the words were reasonable, Igor found it somewhat uncomfortable.
"Is it really good to keep hidden?" Igor replied angrily.
"The hiding is just to wait for someone capable of uncovering the secret," the Spirit Book continued.
"Uncover the secret!" Igor was puzzled; this was really like ancestors having nothing better to do—insisting on making a shortcut discovery seem complex. Wouldn't it be better to just tell others? Why go around in circles?
"Yes, not everyone can know this shortcut, because Lord Soron knows, crafting this warning signal by the Water Spirits wasn't easy, and the Water Spirits themselves also faced difficulties!" The Spirit Book became more detailed, and with the interpretation of this part, much of Lord Soron's memory began to manifest within the Spirit Book, since it was a transmission of Soron's will.
"You mean, the Precarious Watcher icon was crafted by the Water Spirits!" Douglas and Amoon seemed very concerned, as in their impression, the Precarious Watcher always served as a signal, reminding them of the danger ahead. They believed this signal was discovered by ancestors, but now the Spirit Book reveals it wasn't discovered but created by the Water Spirits.
"Yes, this statue was intricately carved by the Water Spirits using water. What besides water could make a mountain so smooth and delicate!" the Spirit Book said softly.
"Could Lord Soron have left any evidence? This notion is immense, it's hard to envision just by relying on our imagination."
"Haha, I knew you would react this way. Humans are such a self-righteous species, never willing to believe other races are peaceful, always expecting other races to harm them," the Spirit Book reflected on humanity.
"Enough with the needless talk; quickly talk about the shortcut. Even if the Water Spirits lead us, they need to appear first. Moreover, why would they help us when we think of them so poorly? It's unfair!"
Igor spoke incessantly; his thoughts were plenty and complex, differing from Douglas and Amoon—his ideas seemed like stars in the sky, like sunlight reflected on the lake, always delighting the heart.
"Do you know? You've unlocked the key to this passage, and it's because of you that I'm able to convey the deeper meaning of this segment. You've revealed the hidden secret, Igor!" The Spirit Book's attitude towards Igor became very respectful, as if he were a pivotal figure.
Igor felt extremely bewildered by the Spirit Book's speech, not understanding what it meant.
Douglas and Amoon seemed to grasp its meaning and watched Igor quietly, much like observing stars in the sky, or water on the lake, calm and serene.
"I will direct you to the right direction and inform you how to use this mark. This isn't a dangerous statue; it's a broadcasting signal tower!" Without further ado, the Spirit Book felt it had narrated enough, leaving the rest to Igor and the others.
"Remember the canoe I mentioned before; it's a tool needed to cross the river. Also, for a long time I'll be dormant; treat the Water Spirits well—they aren't the dangerous species, you are!"
"Now, it's time for the zombies to witness a miracle!"
The Spirit Book rambled on, saying many words; it began to exude Spirit Power, seemingly preparing to do something extraordinary.
Gradually, a faint yellow light emanated from the Spirit Book, its brightness overshadowing sunlight but not glaring—truly an oddity. After the gentle light fiber, a phantom figure gradually emerged in front of Igor and the others, resembling Lord Soron.
Lord Soron slowly approached the stone slab in front of the statue, standing on it where one could experience the dispersing Spirit Power, which suddenly became very soft like a magic carpet.
This scene was a first for Igor and the others. Why did this stone slab change? This was their current question.
Gradually, the stone slab floated up, carrying the phantom form of Lord Soron.
"This must be the effect of Spirit Recoil," Amoon said, having significant research in this area.
"Spirit Recoil?" Douglas seemed to gain a little understanding.
"The senior means, when we stand on this slab, we release Spirit Power matching the one dispersed by the slab, whereas this time, the Spirit Book releases comparable Spirit Power to the slab's emitted Spirit!"
"Yes, you're smart, a normal person's response would be to link the slab's dispersing Spirit Power, hence releasing opposite Spirit Power—similar repels, dissimilar attracts; everyone understands this principle!"
"So this means it's a mechanism," Douglas remarked upon seeing the flying slab.
"Judging by the situation, yes!"
As Igor and the others spoke, suddenly a melodious song wafted through the air, sounding like a divine anthem, very captivating.
